I don't think J-Rock will ever get that big over here, but that's just me. There are way too many people who think that foreign music may sound good but is pointless to listen to because it cannot be understood. The half-assed popular music of modern America appeals to the general populace, so that's why they can get away with it. I don't know, perhaps I'm just speaking from my own experience, in a small town filled with people obsessed with drama and popularity with little individuality. Dir en Grey may start getting a newer, faker fanbase because of the people who will buy their stuff just "because they're rebels" or "to look cool" but in the end they will lose interest and go off to something else.
But that's just how I see it *shrugs*
It's already happened to Diru ::shrugs::
It's already happened to VK jrock in general, although its more on a subcultural basis because of how its fueled by the internet and not mainstream media.
But the community is getting bigger, HT is fanning the flames by making it easier to access.
You might not see your favorite obscure VK indie band in a record store anytime soon, but hell. Diru is already on MTV.
