Ok, I have played Blue, Red, Yellow, Silver, Gold, Chrystal, Ruby, Saphire, Emerald, Leaf Green, Fire Red, and Diamond (never played Pearl though...).

I only ever owned Blue, Red (this was stolen from me in 5th grade though...), Yellow, and Silver. I played Diamond on my girlfriend's DS and I played all the rest using VisualBoy Advanced and game roms (aka: illegally XD).

Chloie: You can only trade online if you have a DS and one of the DS games. There is a way to trade from the GBA games (Ruby, Saphire, Emerald, Leaf Green, and Fire Red) to the DS games by putting the GBA cartridge in the DS with the DS game. However, there is no way to trade directly from the first and second gen games to the DS game. You would have to use a GBA and trade from, say, Blue to Saphire first, and then you can move pokemon from Saphire to Diamond. It is kind of complicated, but I think they don't expect many of us to be using our first gen games. Also, the Saphire to Diamond isn't trading like it is online or gameboy to gameboy. There's something called (I think) the Pal Park (or some other such nonsense) and any pokemon in the pokedex on your Saphire game would appear there for you to try to catch. I think they only appear 6 at a time, though I could be wrong there.

Wow...I didn't intend to type that much out about the trading. LOL Sorry, but having played a game from each of the pokemon generations I just know a lot about them.

I'M SO EXCITED!!! *super geektastic* I just picked up Pokemon Platinum. I can't wait to get to all the fun new stuff!
