It rather is silly, because this topic has been discussed to death.
Guile is a unique character all on his own, and sadly the major background story stuff that was meant for him in CC got thrown out before the game was made final... stupid game designers. cry
If you want to discuss connections, Magil is the one who's closer tied to Magus (from the old game Radical Dreamers, which CC got ideas from).

Chrono Cross did very little in connecting to Chrono Trigger and even contradicted it. I'd rather just forget that CC exists, aside from the fact that Yasunori Mitsuda's score is actually pretty good.

Yah know, I've discussed this several times on Gaia and out of Gaia, and I've heard so many different opinions.
The first time I played CC I thought Guile was definitely Magus, and no one could tell me any differently. I swore while I was playing the game it would be revealed, but alas, as you know, it wasn't.
So yeah, I dunno. He could be, but probably not in all honesty. They just have similar traits I guess.
