True, I'll probably end up doing 10 first and then maybe some others, but I also have another question. Should some of the fillers include the mind numbing puzzles that are put into the game to reach a single treasure chest?

ABSOLUTELY NOT. rofl
I definately don't think you should do XII. It's such a confusing game in terms of motavation, and even the character interaction is complicated. Out of the Final Fantasys I've played, I'd suggest X. It's got a fairly straight forward storyline, and no ambiguous character interaction.
