PLACES OUT OF A HAT
Someone told me a few years ago (I believe it was my ex actually) that the man behind Nintendo, Shigeru Miyamoto, came up with Mario by putting a number of words into a container and picked out three: fat, Italian, plumber.
So, I thought of this thread as a source of inspiration for some people and also as a bit of a game. However! It's only for creating places/landmarks.
The idea is that you pick up a dictionary (or use one online or something - as long as you see words from a list), and pick three words. Then put them in a post on here, so people can then work out ideas from it and post what ideas they come up with. You can create something from those words if you like, but it might be more challenging to do that from someone else's words. It should be as random as possible though.
I don't want to throw in anything too difficult but saying it has to be one adjective, one verb and one adverb or anything, so let's keep it simple by just pulling words out of a dictionary or thesaurus.

That's funny, if that was true then the guys at Club Nintendo would have mentioned something already cuz, they have mentioned almost every curious thing behind the creation of Miyamoto's characters. Or maybe I just missed that issue. I didn't collect the magazine for about 10 years so...
Ok, I'll go first then.
Adjective... hmm... how about "Arboreal"? Verb... ok... how about "moved"? and now an adverb, huh? How about "amazingly"?
Is this how it's done?

It is how I intended it to be, but the words should theoretically be the type that can be used to describe a place. However...
The architecture had taken on an arboreal form, and just the scale of these pillars made them no different to their earthy cousins, except they would not grow. Not now, not ever. They could not be moved, they were stone, yet amazingly they had no less character than their leafy companions.
I created a place with what you gave. ^_^'

Sorry Mel but I'm just not exactly great when it comes to thinking of verbs and adverbs. Maybe it's why the "Brain Age" game says my mental age is of someone in their late 40's, he-he. sweatdrop I think you did a wonderful job with the words I posted. Way to go buddy!
Should I wait till someone else makes up a place with my words or till you post 3 words so I can do something similar? I suppose it could be a good challenge for my tired brain, he-he. mrgreen

The arboreal sanctuary amazingly moved with the changing phases of the moon; one week it would be in the north of the forest, next in the east, but always offering a comfortable bed of dry moss for those lost amongst the otherwise inhospitably twisted trees.
or
Amongst the branches of the great old oak was a woven hammock that amazingly moved soothingly with the sounds of it's arboreal setting.
(can you tell I'm feeling tired? wink )

Let's see... how about: A girl named Forlornly began to skirl quietly?
I know I have to really make an effort but I'm kinda tired here, he-he. Sorry... Let's see someone else do better, eh? neutral

I'll give it a try. lol
The land rolled down and away from where we claimed our ground. It seemed that the battle had been nonexistent as the land had no scars this far from the field, and it almost seemed to speak euphemistically to us that all was well.
I hope I did it right. X_X
