Breaking point. What on this horridly created earth is my breaking point. "Hatred keeps me from getting broken. You've probably been through this, but that same person who was there to pick up the pieces, broke me." Instead of anger in her eyes, there was almost a twinge of unhappiness, her face instead of pissed, was relaxed, almost blank. It was like she had no soul. With a deep sigh, Raina put her hand on her forehead, her elbow on the table, and with her fingers she began messing with her thick curly black locks. Like every other day, Raina hadn't bothered to do anything with her but put it up into a pony tail. Curly hair made it easy for her to get away with that, and fortunately for her, she never had to worry about looking good. Fragile adhesive. He's got a point. Trying to shift the attention off of her, Raina looked at Seth dead in the eye, giving him what was one of the first genuine smiles she ever had. "I'm sorry about Estrath." The way she said it made is seam not like she was talking about a snake, but a person. I hope he appreciates this.

Seth managed not to raise his eyebrows, though inwardly he was surprised. Raina... smiling and being... Sorry? Definitely out of character. Maybe she's finally realizing I'm not out to get her, he thought. Out loud, he said, "So am I. Esrath wasn't just some snake. He was a wiser and more intelligent person than I am." He sighed heavily. "I never realized how important he was before. Close to the heart, literally and physically." Seth smiled sadly. "It was my fault. And I have to live with that. But you don't have to deal with something like that, not yet at least. The world's not trying to break you unless you invite it to do so. And I'm not trying to hurt you, either," he added quietly.

It was shock that completely engulfed her face, her eyebrows raised, her moth almost dropped open. This rare face was followed by complete, uncontrollable laughter. "H-h-ha-! I- I- I thought es-esrath was a girl!" Raina's body shook uncontrollably, her arms grasped tightly around her waist. "I-I-I'm so sorry. I truly, and honestly thought he as a girl." After a few moments, their conversation practically ruined, Raina took a deep breath, still mildly shaking from the rather embarrassing moment. "Oh goodness. I'm sorry, but I truly thought he was a girl. I bet you feel insulted, but I never thought twice." In all seriousness. Almost like an actress, Raina waved her hand over her face, and instantaneously she was serious again, no shakes, no silly movements, complete control. "I'm glad to know that Seth. However, no one ever means to hurt someone else. It just...Happens." With a rather nonchalant shrug, Raina ran her finger across the rim of her empty glass, silently wishing that her glass had some water in it, as so she could make the ringing sound her father had taught her. Dad. You power hungry b*****d. Now I see where I get it from. However, a comment that he had said a few moments before struck a hard sharp cord, making her almost jump at the thought. "Wait. If your telling me that hate is fragile, and that you are proof, and you also said that you aren't trying to hurt me either...What are you insinuating?" With her right eyebrow up, her left one down, it was the look of a skeptic, or just someone mistrusting another.

Seth snorted. "Yeah, there are few things more difficult than discovering the gender of a snake. Maybe they'll do a section about that in Divination..." He rolled his eyes. At her question, though, a most uncharacteristic red tinge spread to his cheeks that had nothing to do with alcohol or hot sauce consumption. "I- uh- I'm not insinuating anything. It's just that I- I mean, you-... Never mind. I've made enough of a fool of myself today." He tried unsuccessfully to rid the blush from his cheeks, avoiding her eyes. She's Raina, he reminded himself. This is hardly the place to 'confess your feelings' for her and besides, she'd laugh you out of the bloody joint.

In almost a look of disgust, Raina looked at Seth, what she was thinking about was painfully obvious. How do you find out the gender of a snake? Cut them open and see if there are eggs? With a slight head shake, Raina dismissed the thought, for she really, really did not want to know the answer. At his stumbling over words, Raina couldn't help but smile. He never stumbled over anything, even after she called him a b***h on the train. It was rather entertaining, him tripping over his words, and not due to laughter either. "Well Seth, I guess I'll have to wait for another time to watch you make a fool of yourself again." With a playful wink, Raina leaned back in her chair, her finger running over the rim of her glass. "Oi! Water." Her right hand shot up in the air, her mouth fighting back a smirk as the rather shy person behind the counter ran over with a pitcher. Of course, I could just use my wand and get some water, but that is no fun. None at all. With her fingers, and her mouth, she fine tuned her glass so that it would ring in a permanent B flat tone. It was a trick her mother taught her, something she could never, would never forget. To bad I don't have more glasses, I could totally start playing if I did.

"That's a cool trick," Seth commented, glad for the change of subject. He filled his own glass and produced a D natural. "Almost a chord," he mused. "There's always something missing, isn't there?" He let the cryptic statement hang, idly making his glass sing in harmony with Raina's. "Where did you pick this up?" he asked, gesturing at the glasses in front of them. Wait, did she just wink at me? I thought I'd never see this girl acting cheerful. He smiled slightly. Maybe there's something after all. Or maybe I'm a complete and total idiot. Still, there was something in Raina's sharp wit and powerful personality that he was unavoidably attracted to.

At his comment, a smile almost burst through her lips. Almost. "If we were a bass, we would need two more, a guitar, three, a harp...Many." Her eyes were directly on the glass, but her soul was somewhere else. At his question about who taught her the trick with the glasses, Raina took a sharp breath inwards, her attempts of composing herself almost defeated. Why must people ask me about..Well me? It's none of their business. Though, it's not his fault for being curious. No, not at all. I might as well tell him the truth. Or at least part of it. "My mother taught me that trick." A rather evil smirk appeared on her face, her eyes still "preoccipied " with the water in the glass. "She is dead." To me.

"I'm sorry to hear that," he said. "Mine is dead as well, and my stepmum and dad are in hiding of sorts. I haven't seen them in three years. But I don't need them!" His words were confident, but he spoke with the air of someone trying to convince themselves as much as the other. He sighed forcefully and said, "Look, why don't we get out of here, go to Honeyduke's or something? I think some sugar would be in order for both of us."

With a shrug, Raina was very, very eager to get the attention back off of her, and onto him again. Well, this seems like it is going to be a reoccurring pattern. "I herd your mum is dead as well. I'm not sorry. Sorry is for those who need to be reassured that their life is pitiful." Even though her words were harsh and overcritical, Raina's tone was more playful, proving so, she even finished her statement with a small smile. Amazing. I think I've flashed him more smiles today then my father has in six years. Almost concerning. Shrugging off the thought, she perked up as he mentioned sweets. "Mint. Chocolate. Chip." It was the only green ice cream she could think of that wasn't pistachio, even though she did enjoy both, mint was her absolute favorite. "I would love to accompany you for some deliciously sweet treats. Your choice of where though, I'm adaptable." That very point has been proven on a multitude of levels.

"Sorrow is indeed for the weak," Seth agreed. "And my life is hardly pitiful, nor is yours." He returned Raina's smile with his own, fidgeting with the hilt of his wand. I really could use some sherbets... he thought, imagining all the delicious things in Honeydukes. "Mint is my favorite of any candy," he said. "Let's head out." He pulled her chair out for her and stood back expectantly.
OOC: Do you think Kani would get mad if we created a topic for honeydukes? Or do we need to go through normal channels?

It was ridiculous, her hiding from herself through Butterbeer. However, the bartender was to afraid that he would have his eyebrows, or worse, blown off that he refused to cut her off. She had gone through two pints this time she was in The Three Broomsticks, the two empty pints on the table beside her, and one that had just been placed on her table full. What the hell. Honestly. He kissed me on the cheek as a response to a question. That isn't an answer! However...Oh. No. She was slouched over at her seat, her hand on her temple to hold her throbbing head up. I haven't been kissed since Riley, and well, we are just friends with benefits. That is it. However, I couldn't be FWB's with him if I...Nope that isn't happening. Seth Kissed me on the cheek, he had several pints of Butterbeer. That explains it right? With a sigh, Raina looked up at the clock, she was supposed to be back at Hogwarts within an hour, but really, she didn't want to leave her place for anything. Taking another sip of butterbeer, the alcohol was definitely showing on her face, for her cheeks were red, and her eyes fought hard to stay awake.
