Although PETA can be kind of extreme, I highly recommend you watch those videos on the goveg.com website. They're pretty extreme, but totally just made me reclaim my veganism.

Another thing you could do, if you don't want to give up the ever-so-delicious taste meaty-meat, is try some morningstar products. They have AWESOME imitation meat products; chiken nuggets, buffalo wings, steak and on and on. I also recommend Boca Burgers. They seem so very real.

I know it can be hard. VERY hard. It took me three years of trying over and over until I bacame a vegetarian. Took me at least a year to simply give up BEEF.
So best of luck to ya! xd

Statistic: 20-25% of the people in the world are vegetarians. 3nodding

As for me, I cant help but be one of the 75-80% of the carnivorous type of people who cant get over chicken. xd Well...I cant.
However, I've been reading "The Jungle" by Upton Sinclair, and I gotta tell you, the discriptions of pig and cow slaughter is like reading about the Holocaust. eek Not pretty.

P.S. - Isnt it interesting how there are more vegetarians in the world than left-handed people. eek (Only 10% are left handed) And yet, at least half my teachers, a bunch of my friends, and my sister are all left handed, yet I know no vegetarians. xd

That's got a lot to with where you live. (The veg thing.) sweatdrop

A considerable part of that 20-25% live in other countries. I wonder what percentage of Amereica is vegetarian?

Well, true. I live in Illinois.
But even if they DO live in other countries, it still facinates me that that many people are vegetarians and so many people ARENT left-handed.

i quit meat for about a year ago and i have never thought about going back..
its just feel better for me not to eat meat..

some say its because of my religion, being a buddhist does not always mean you have to veggie..

so for me its not a lifestyle to be veggie its a feeling that give peace indside..

Becoming a vegetarian is so not hard. I find it interesting how people think it's difficult. Just dive right in, it's super easy.

First think of foods you like to eat. I bet alot of them don't have meat or can be prepared without it. Macaroni and cheese for instance. Chinese food, alot of that has no meat. Might I suggest vegetable lo mein or miso soup. Both are excellent. Love Italian food? A ton of it is vegetarian. Pasta with marinanra sauce or alfredo sauce, eggplant parmigan(sp?), tortellini.

For the more adventurous types might I suggest tofu. Tofu is excellent, if you cook it properly. Never, I repeat, never eat it plain. It must be thouroughly seasoned. I've had excellent results with it in stir fry, where I find it is best. I love curried tofu.

I agree!

Being vegetarian opens your eyes to so many yummy cultural dishes.

I'm partial-vegetarian at this point. I don't know if I want to give up meat entirely. But I probably could become a vegetarian pretty easily. I don't eat a lot of meat as it is.

i became a vegetarian in 7th grade. after a few months i tried meat again out of curiousity while i was on a vacation and hated it. it didn't make me sick, but it was discusting as hell.

if you want to become a vegetarian, i found it easiest to not start out trying to set up all those meals and stuff, but to just eat anything that wasn't made of meat. didn't matter what it was, mashed potatoes, chips, fruits, junk food, if it was there and tasted good i'd be eating it. wink
it builds up the habit so that once you're used to living without meat, soon it will have been so long that the meer thought of meat makes you sick 4laugh
