ButterBalls
I brought it up in a new thread. I actually did forget, though. blaugh

Well, I think I pretty much implied to Soleq that he has all the writing responsibilities for this. I don't even think I'd be smart enough to draft them. I'll certainly revise, edit, and/or go over them.

This is another reason why I think it's a good idea to have an announcement forum so the regular members can voice their opinion on the issues of this guild if they wanted to. It's all up for debate though.

I really don't know what's going to happen. I think after the sub-forums their workload will greatly decrease.

!! I'm insulted that you forgot1!! Well, not really. Veit's account is Captain, but I have the password to it and so does Katie... if she remembers it. So it's just as good as me being captain.

Why not have the main forum be the announcements forum?
Oh, and I really did like the idea of having a "chatterbox" sub-forum. You know for spam and such? It would keep the spam out of the other areas.
But you cannot, no matter what you do, call it the "chatterbox" sub-forum. Everyone seems to hate the chatterbox with a passion. If I tell people I've been posting in the chatterbox they act like they want to chop off my hands so I can no longer type for committing such a sin. rolleyes

Heeheehee, I remember his password.

And people hate the chatterbox because it moves too fast, doesn't have enough discussion, and when you do find something good, you usually have to be a regular to be accepted into their crowd anyways. rolleyes Lame.
I'll take my nice and slow GD any day.

Meh, I kinda hate everything on Gaia. There was a month where I posted alot in the Welcome to Gaia forum. And then a few months where I was in Q and F and A a lot. I keep moving around and none of it seems to really be any fun. I betcha the only reason why I'm still on Gaia is because I donated 600 gold to Kupi's Guild and she then invited me and I because a LI Reg. If that hadn't happened I doubt I'd still be on Gaia today.

I'll go to the ChatterBox anyday. xd I feel like I'm 10x smarter in that forum. xd

No, but seriously, we're not going to call it GD, ED, or ChatterBox. We were thinking about the "Discussion forum" or something like that. It's not just spam though. When you say spam it sounds like you're implying just bumping and things like that. It would also be for debate, intelligent debate, and whatever other things people wanted to do.

When I think "spam" I think of a thread that was once in EnRohbi's guild.
It was called "Cookies and magical goodies" or something like that. And it had nothing to do with anything. xd Gry made that thread. I wonder what happened to Gry. He was pretty damn cool.

If I may just point something out for future elections... whether or not we list a "political party" that runners's beliefs are closest to, what would be a great idea is to post that extended member profile most of us all typed on our beliefs when we entered the guild, so that people could look into that person's beliefs before voting on them. That way, at least people would be voting based on the person they most agree with, not just as a popularity contest.

Okay, for Laurel's sanity's sake, I'll fill in my end of the decision making.

As I've said numerous times already, this whole election/guild council has been an experiment so far. I'm trying to see what works, what doesn't, and change things around so that it runs more effectively and efficiently. I didn't honestly like having two election threads, so don't bash me for that, but it was one idea to counter a time problem. Things will get better.

Sure, this whole thing has basically been a student council election in high school. The popular people get voted for, but hell, only the popular people run. It saddened me to see that only 9 people voted. That's about 4% of this guild. Pathetic. If you chose not to vote to "make a stand" or whatever the hell you want to call it, then you're just dragging this whole idea down. ButterBalls and I wanted to create a guild where the members had some say in the decision making process, sort of like a pseudo-democracy. Most guild captains simply appoint their friends, and if their friends piss them off, then they take the all-mighty crew status symbol away. Captains like that are nothing more than despots. Sure, some dictatorships work quite well, but others will eventually fail sooner or later.

So, the choice of appointing people is pissing people off? I can live with that. I only wanted 2 seats open to election at the get-go, and I made it very clear that the appointees seats would be up for election in 3 months. That's only half of a term, so I think we can all live for 3 months. Nothing huge.

I do like the idea of some sort of spam/discussion subforum. Off topic stuff. Good idea Laurel. This is why I voted for you.

In any case, about the crew subforum and crew meetings, this is my proposal. Since I do believe that councilmeetings shouldn't be "secret" or whatnot, I've been creating an outline for the first councilmeeting. In the outline, it will tell exactly what we'll discuss. This is the Council Meeting Agenda, and it will be posted for all members to see. Afterwards, the minutes of the meeting will be posted in the Council Meeting Minutes log. There are no secrets here, just decisions to be made. We can make the crew subforum visible to all members, but lock all of the threads so only councilmembers/crew can post. That will make people happy. Council meetings will most likely be over MSN, but they will be private. Again, the minutes will be posted.

So, without sounding like too much of a d**k, there you go. If you have futher comments/questions/complaints, post them here. I'm off.

He's fine. He's back working at a job he hates but it's paying the bills. I heard a rumor that he has a girl friend but as of yet I haven't met her so it's still a rumor. *backs away again*

Thank-you. heart I'm sorry I'm being such a pain about this.

We know it's an experiment, and I'm really only trying to help by commenting on how things went. I'm not compaining for the sake of complaining, and I am not bashing you. Well, I'm really trying not to. Sorry! sad
I am only trying to help things get better....

From what I understand, a lot of people either weren't online during the voting, or didn't know how to vote.

It doesn't piss me off, it's just confusing. When you posted about the election it made it sound like those seats would be empty untill January. Then three people we're appointed to those positions, I didn't know if the rules had changed or anything. The rules tend to change alot with things like this.
And really, you don't have to get so defensive, Soleq. /=

I donated a couple hundred gold this morning. Hopefully that will be the next subforums the guild gets. =)

Well, that makes me feel much much better about this crew sub-forum and the meetings.
I'm in something similar to this in real life, as far as the politics go, and before I was on the council I always wanted to read the minutes because I cared about what was going on and the decisions being made, but they always denied that to me. Everything is secret there...
I like your idea though, it keeps everything public. No secrets. Thanks Soleq.

I'm sorry for any trouble I'm causing. /=

Soleq, I didn't vote because I don't pay attention to what day it is.
And I had other things on my mind.
I'm not going to worry about voting for someone on the internet when I'm in the middle of my parents' fight.

Your idea was a good one, but all I'm hearing about now is the coveted E-POPULARITY. "HOMG I DIDNT WIN? Nah, I dont care. BUT SECRETLY I HATE YOU ALL FOR NOT PUTTING ME IN CHARGE! scream "

Well, I voted for you. Do you love me? blaugh

I thought that it was a good idea, that just didn't go over as planned. I think I was the second person to vote after Soleq, considering I was online when I saw the polls go up. I probably would have run, but I put it off a little to long due to the fact I've been dead tired from working. I'll probably try running in the next one, considering I'm like the wallflower here wink
