Akemi was relieved to hear that she still wanted to be his friend. It would be nice, having a place to go to when things at home were tough. He didn't plan on taking things so far with Mitternacht again. Their friendship felt special and he wouldn't do anything to ruin it. Akemi tilted his head when she mentioned something unplanned happening. A slight feeling of shock ran down his spine. Surely, nothing would come of their night together? It wasn't possible. 'Yes it is. Remember?' A voice spoke in the back of his head, making the memory of his and Xai's first day together. It had taken them one try to conceive children, and Akemi hadn't know about them until a few months later and they were already born. Though Akemi was thankful that she would be responsible about it, if anything were to happen. "Thank you." Akemi said softly, rising with her. "Breakfast sounds nice." A low grumble sounded from Akemi's stomach.

Mitternacht returned to her cupboard and collected several items to be prepared. "You're welcome... It should be ready rather soon so, you won't have to wait too long." She set about preparing the meal, thinking over all the events. She wasn't sure exactly how she felt at the moment at the prospect that she might end up a mother; surely it took more then one go on the couples part to produce young. But either way, she was prepared to handle everything it called for. Her familiars would have to assist her in caring for them since she lived alone, but she knew it wouldn't be hard at all.
She glanced back over her shoulder to the waiting Akemi as she chopped the food before her. "Did you have any preference for seasonings or combinations of foods for your meal? I should be able to make a nice fruit salad and a little bit of fish meat for you, and I have a lot of vegetables that could go with them."

Akemi followed Mitternacht into the kitchen area and watched as she started to go through the flood. "Fruit salad sounds delicious. Do you have any pomegranates to add to it?" They were Akemi's favorite fruit, along with watermelon, and he didn't think that a mean could really be complete without them. Not that it would disappoint him if she didn't have them or anything. The thought of having children again, was a slight nerve racking one. After his family at home turned out, he doubted that he could produce 'normal' babies. 'Not that you don't like it when things get loopy at home? You know that you like the spontaneous environment. If it didn't keep you on your toes, you probably would have left long ago.' Akemi knew this to be right. So what if his first bunch was kinda messed up. He knew that that's just the way that he liked them. Normal was kinda boring... 'I wonder how our children would turn out?' Akemi couldn't help but wonder, his eyes staring at Mitternacht's back as she chopped up the veggies. Surely, they would be beautiful, with calm personalities reflecting from their mother's. Akemi was sure that Mitternacht would make a great mother, and children would surely lighten up her life. She wouldn't be alone out here anymore.

Mitternacht nodded as she prepared the rest of the meal. "I do not have any pomegranates in the cave, but I can tell my familiar Omen to retrieve me some with our link. It should only take him a few minutes to return here at the most, then I will have your meal totally ready." She knew her familiar probably already knew she wanted something, and would no doubt be on his way already, so she didn't have much time to worry about small talk and kept a lot of her thoughts to herself. She knew that while at first, it would be an adjustment if she did end up with children, but she knew over all she would love having them. They would make things so much less plain around her home, and it would be fun to teach them everything they needed to know. Surely, it would be a major improvement on her just sitting around doing nothing.

Akemi's lips lifted at the mention of familiars. He wondered where his own where. When he left, he told them to stay behind with the family, which probably meant that Fenris and Rux were chasing after him at this very moment, and Nariko was the only one who listened. A sigh escaped his lips at the thought. What would he do without his companions? "What type of familiars do you have?" Akemi asked, slightly curious at what time of familiar would be dubbed 'Omen'.

She looked over her shoulder, already knowing Omen would be close as she answered Akemi. "Omen is my coyote spirit familiar. He'll always do what I ask of him but most of the time he's off doing his own thing so I don't bother him. He should be here any second actually." She started filling bowls with what she had prepared already. "What sort of familiars do you have at home Akemi? Or do you not have any; most painters I know will bring their's with them."

Akemi chuckled and rubbed the back of his head, "Well, I kinda wanted to get out by myself. I've had my Coyote familiar, Fenris, since the day I hatched. He seems to follow me everywhere, and we've been through alot together," Akemi smiled, thinking back briefly on how close himself and Fenris had gotten over the years, "And then Nariko, A Rockhopper Griffin. She can be air headed sometimes, but is loyal when it really counts. She listens and follows my wishes to the point-" Akemi to a breath of air, "And my last companion is Rux. He's my newest friend, and is quite the character. He's very stubborn, like my wi-" Akemi caught himself just before he could reference Rux's personality to Xai's. "-Like another friend of mine. Knowing all of them, they are probably on their way to this area as we speak." Akemi smiled, hoping that Mitternacht hadn't caught his mistake. Trying to distract himself, and make his slight nervousness less obvious, he turned his eyes to what was just served in front of him. 'It's looks delicious,' Akemi thought, eying the wonderful food that lay in his bowl.

Mitternacht nodded and glanced up as Omen slipped into the cave, two pomegranates in his mouth. "Well, he's here, so it shouldn't take me but a second to finish the meal." While she sliced open the offered fruit, omen stood and looked unwaveringly at the male painter, not moving a hair even though his master was bustling around him. Mitternacht gave him a quick pat as she passed him on her way back to the table; casting him a look as the coyote slipped away. "Sorry about that, he has his moments around new faces. Sometimes I swear that coyote can learn anything about a creatures soul just by looking at them. Half the time they don't know it though, he usually is off in the bushes hunting something. He's been a very good companion for me though, he's very loyal, and while if I have company he's never in sight, he's very good about judging motives and has saved my life once or twice since I was a hatchling. My mother was the one who gave me the idea for his name, since whenever something was going to possibly harm me he would slink in like a shadow. Nowadays though, he isn't so much a bad omen any longer. He was actually the one who let me know you were on your way here."

Akemi took his time stuffing his face and talking back to Mitternacht in between bites, chewing, and swallowing. "I believe you. Fenris is quite the sneaky Coyote. They always have a knack of being there for ya, when you need them." Akemi lifted another bite into his mouth, reaching for a half of one pomegranate. He took the small, juicy red seeds and spread them out across his small, but wonderful, fruit salad. Swallowing the bite that he had just taken, Akemi continued to eat, great full now that he had some delicious pomegranates to complete the meal. The rest of the meal was silent, each of them keeping themselves occupied with their own thoughts. It was getting to be about the time where Akemi would have to leave. He didn't want to go, yet knew that he would have to. He had already done enough wrong (Yet it was still all so right) from being here, and was sure to get a lashing when he arrived back home. Akemi picked up a folded napkin that lay near his plate and wiped off remnants of food from the corners of his mouth. "That was delicious, Mitternacht." Akemi complimented her cooking truthfully. He hadn't had a home cooked meal in quite some time.
