"Changing Eternity (Endless Spirit)"

My frozen heart is stirring,
Whispering into the silent moment.

What am I? Who am I?
Sitting in class staring at my pencil
bouncing on my desk as the answers
come to me unwillingly
Close my eyes and weep

Melting away the frost from within,
Revealing a deeper nature.

What is this feeling of breathlessness?
Staring at Adonis unbelieving
aching to brush that skin but fearing
Is this love? Lust?
Is this the nature of things?

My heartstrings sing together in a chord,
Sweetness and sorrow intertwine.

Don't go, don't leave me my heart cries
How can I ever do anything without you?
But my mouth says only you know what you have to do
And so I spoke my feelings--
Hope, warmth, coldness, sorrow, rejection, grief, joy

Dissonance follows as my heartbeat grows,
A broken chord for a broken heart.

What follows this?
Ice again? Fire?
The lonely days crawled on
and I watched as something gentle and pure
emerged from without and within

Beneath the red lies gold,
Shimmering eternity beneath the carnage.

Forgetting the pain in the wonder of it,
So this is Love, hmMmM, so this is Love
Dancing on the wind power floods me
Mama's with me, and I know at last
What I have to do.

And washing in the ruby mess
Gold like bugs in warm amber.

Painful one-sided affection
So this is the nature of things oh mortal love
I love you I love you too I know
Does that mean forever what is forever
God is forever Love is for always

The scarlet pulp is washed away in liquid fire
Gold gives up its treasure, something pure within.

I never asked for this power this gift this destiny
Arrogant to think we have free will
to think we can choose the god we serve
I can't do this I'm not worthy
There's no hope for me

My heart, my deepest Heart of Hearts,
What is being etched into you?

I will be your prophet if you will be my God
It was never a choice between good and evil
for me it was a choice between good and impotence
An unwilling slave to sin or a servant of heaven
Is there really any choice in the end?

This is the nature of things...but it does not have to be.
Come and remake all things in the glory of God.
