we didn't have auditions for honor band, the directors just picked.
and even if i got there earlier and picked the first chair seat, other girls pulled up a chair and STOLE it even though the angle to see the director got weirder.
and we were all supposed to have equals parts of 1st,2nd, and 3rd because there were no auditions, but people that joined later got copies, usually from 1st or second parts. my school's clarinets were the BEST, but of course on the concert day, we got kicked to the last 3 seats even though we got there way earlier. many of the other clarinets barely played. a few made an effort and we respected those, but our most obnoxious clarinet player kept dissing everyone else.

AWESOME!!!!!!! I made 1st chair for Alto Saxophone too! My experience at honor's band wasn't fun cause it was at our school and our conducter was stupid (no offense) but I had a lot of fun with my friends. They were the best!

I am trying out for our symphonic band in a few weeks, and I'm really nervous. I have only been playing bassoon for 5 months now, and my director s determined I will be good enough to get in. Plus I have auditions for chamber choir the same week.
I remember in 6th grade I was in a district honors band, I was one of the youngest there, and was scared out of my mind.... But the music was more of what I liked to play, better and harder than the music our band at the time... Too bad now I had to replay one of the honors band pieces in concert band... That made me feel like crap

7th chair flute out of 9 in honors band biggrin in my defense:: I didn't know I was allowed to try out until two hours before auditions. So I had to learn a song, practice my scales, and calm down all in two hours. >.> So, I'm pretty glad I made it lol.
