"Of course." Replied Leif with an amused smile before giving up his attempt to help his sister. 'Of course she can handle it.' He mused silently his tail waving behind him. "Since I don't think mom would appreciate the two of us coming back completely covered in bruises..." Leif looked around and finally gave a satisfied nod. "Feel like throwing knives?" He asked Mersi with a wide grin.

Mersi threw her head back to laugh. "As if she'd like it better that we come home with cuts all over." But even as she chuckled, she turned toward the stash that she'd seen before, that Leif had been trying to hide, and started sifting through to see what he had. "You thinking short or long blades?"

"Short probably." Replied Leif before laughing at Mersi's reaction. "Not at each other! Silly." He wiped the tears that clung to his eyes before pointing to a tall tree stump that had marks in it. A faint mark of what once was a brightly painted bulls eye stood out like a bloodstain against the dark wood. "That's the practice area."

Mersi cocked her head before laughing herself. "True." She scooped up all the short knives and brought them over. "Figure we should try throwing different kinds. Get used to only one, you get problems later." She said with a sagely nod, slightly mocking her centaur mentor.
She couldn't deny though that she loved her little dagger. It was her favorite to use, and she was best with it.

"Of course, but for now shorter knives are better." Leif shook his head with a small grin, "We can't just throw them all at once until we've trained properly with each type." He raised an eyebrow, "Unless you feel confident enough already with many blades, Mersi?"
His hand clutched at the handle of one of the knives and after lightly touching the cool blade against his bare wrist, Leif flung it hard at the stump. The knife embedded itself in the bark, easily going into a grove formed at the top left.

Mersi shook her head. "Throwing knives? Not at all. We were actually going to start that part in the next few days." She picked up one of the smallest blades, tossing and spinning it in one hand. "Still, see which length is easier to throw in one try, then work on that one for the time being."

"Ah. Then I may be ahead of you, sis." Replied Leif as he held up another knife. "That's okay, but still let's try the short ones for you first." Leif slowly moved the knife and demonstrated how to throw it at the tree. "So when you do all that together it should..." Taking a breath, Leif gazed at the stump and let the knife fly into it's base. "Go like that."

"Well, you don't have to sound so cocky about it." Mersi scolded with a pout, though a chuckle gave her away.
Picking up one of the smallest blades, she copied Leif and threw. The blade skimmed the top of the stump, but went much further on behind it.

Leif let loose a laugh before shaking his head at Mersi. "Not too bad though, you just need to work on your aim." He looked at the stump before remembering how her blade had flown, "That definitely would have hurt someone...had they been taller." His tail moved playfully behind him, "I have to admit that was good for your first throw."
Looking at the blades, he picked a slightly longer one than the one Mersi first threw. Without a word he handed it to her and moved to hold her throwing arm. "Let me lead you through it?"

Mersi held her head up proudly at Leif's compliment. "Good. As long as I can avoid situations needing knives thrown at pygmies, I'll be set." She said with a soft snort of a giggle.
Nodding, she took a deep breath and let it out slow to keep herself relaxed and easy to work with, paying attention to everything he did. "Lead away."

Leif laughed softly before holding Mersi's wrist which held the knife. Slowly yet with sure movements, Leif moved his sister's arm through the process of throwing a knife. His voice was low and serious as he talked through each step. Finally he smiled, "And when you finally have it perfectly in sight, you aim and throw. Now let go of the knife when I move your hand forward." Bending her arm towards him, Leif flicked Mersi's wrist and watched as the knife flew into the upper part of the stump.

Gasping happily, Mersi rushed forward to get a closer look. "It's in pretty deep too!" She called back, giving the knife a good tug to pull it out. "Looks like I'm still a bit high though." She trotted quickly back to stand beside Lief, tail flicking excitedly. "Again!"
