Name of elder: Koii History: She was always one of the lower-class members of the Water Pack and was always a strange child, having a strange fascisnation with the fish she was named after. Supposedly, she had been blessed by a mythical queen Koi, and was going to be special... She always was on the search for fish, and loved to show all the Taranis her beautiful fish pond, that she loved to hang out near. Personality: She's not particularly bright, a bit shy and humble, but she knows that's the leader and will use her power when she needs to. She's a bit silly at times, and loves fish. Response: "Come around, come around young ones. You all asked for a story, and now you shall have one. Have you all been told the story of how Koii become the head Elder?" asked Spree to the kits of the Water Pack. "No, tell us Aunt Spree! Tell us!" the littlest of the kits, Alianan squeaked. "Please, tell us!" said Sila. "Alright, alright." Said Spree, grinning. "By some miracle, Koii had been selected to be the next leader of the Water pack after the previous leader died of mysterious circumstances... "Well anyway, to prove her worth, it was required she go through a challenge. "And it was decided that her challenge was to catch the beautiful queen koi in the lake. It was once thought the koi was legend, so everyone thought the challenge to be impossible. Yet, even more impossible, she was not to kill the koi, to bring the koi alive. Surely, no fish could live out of water! "Yet, Koii took the challenge. She took it gladly, and immediately set off to get the beautiful koi on the day that was decided. Although, it was raining and pouring so hard, it seemed impossible that should could swim properly with the lightning and thunder, there was danger involved. "It seemed like the foolish Koii to humbly accept a challenge that could kill her, even if only to prove that she wasn't worthless. She walked through the rain, getting hit with rain and debris from the wind. "She looked at the lake in despair. Why did she take on the challenge again? There was no guarantee the fish even exists! And she had to bring the fish alive! What sort of ridiculous challenge was this? "But she remembered who she was. She was Koii, of the Water Pack, and a lover of fish. She could do it. She bravely went to the waters edge and peered into the water. Within the depths of the water, she saw a beautiful glimmer. She remembered her childhood here, and seeing that magical glint before... "She began to sing softly, supposedly the most beautiful song of the fish, that she knew because she had been blessed. And the beautiful fish swam right up to her. It had scales that looked like they were made of precious materials, opal, gold, jasper, amber... The fish sparkled, despite there being no sun, no light at all. It was the most wonderful thing Koii had ever seen, and she whispered to the fish. " 'They say I must bring you to them as evidence to prove my worth, but you are a fish. You wouldn't survive out of the water, and I cannot let my pack down.' she said to the fish, bowing her head. "The fish glimmered slightly, and swam closer to the edge, It seemed to whisper back. 'I will suck up enough water so that I will survive. If you are quick, you can return me to the lake, and you will become the pack leader. ' She sucked up the water, and swam closer to the edge. "Grateful, Koii picked up the majestic fish in her mouth, and ran to the Pack camp, as fast as she could without harming the fish. When she showed the judges, they were shocked. Surely, if she really could bring the fish, the signs were correct, and she deserved to be leader! They all bowed their head in silence and said, 'Koii, you have completed the task. You are worthy to be the head elder of the Water Pack.' "Koii nodded, and gesturing to the fish, she picked her back up, and carried her back to the lake. Before the queen Koi left, she whispered, 'Thank you. Thank you for... coming back.' she told the fish. "And the fish swam in a circle, and replied, 'It was destiny, my child. Now hush, and go back to your pack, they are waiting.' "And that children.... was how our leader Koii, got to where she is." said Spree. The children ran about playfully, happy about the story. "Thanks aunt Spree!" they all said, and ran back to their mothers, to recount the story that everyone knew.

Name of Elder: Zureth History: Zurith was in a small family in the Water Pack. They weren't higher up or anything, they were just average and she too grew up without any special treatment. When she was just born, she was a white pup, she was also on the brink of dieing too. Her parents tried everything they could to try and keep her alive, but day by day she was growing weaker. Then when all hope was lost someone placed a koi in the den and Zureth immediately devoured it. Then as the days passed she grew better, and after experiencing this her parents gave her koi almost everyday. As if that wasn't enough of a miracle, when she became 10 months old her pelt started to resemble a koi's skin. Personality: Zureth is a rather mellow character. She can also be like a pond sometimes, having slight mood changes. Those don't last long though, and within a few hours she's like herself again. Everything she does, she does for the sake of the Pack, even when it seems like what she's doing isn't the best move. Response: Celestine watched proudly as the pack announce Zureth the new leader of the pack. Who would've thought that her own daughter would get this pristine honor. What had just happened mere hours ago felt like ancient history to her now as she watched her daughter.

Zureth's mouth hung open in astonishment. She was going to take a test to determine whether or not she would be fit to be pack leader? Just the very thought of it was preposterous. Quickly she clamped her jaws firmly together to keep from looking like a fool. She followed a few elders to the nearby lake.
Zureth stared into the pond for a few seconds before one of the elders finally spoke. "Your task, is to catch one of these koi fish." Zureth was obviously shocked by this. Kois were hard to catch, and it usually took beginners a year's time to catch one of those elegant kois. Of course, this task was kind of ironic, not in a funny way. Years ago a koi caused the miracle that spared her life and now, they were involved with her possibly becoming leader. Zureth nodded and calmly waited for further instructions. "You will be allowed any method to catch your koi, but you must complete this task within 2 hours limit."
Zureth sighed and watched the kois swimming in the pond. An hour had passed and she had only succeeded in soaking herself completely. She took a breath of air and close her eyes, trying to focus on the sound of the kois swimming. Closer. Closer. Closer. Quick as lightning her paw struck out at a brave koi that had come too close. She lifted her paw out of the water and looked at it. There was a scale stuck on one her claws. She had gotten close, but not close enough. She only had 15 minutes left so she had to do this and do it fast. She closed her eyes again and listened to the water rippling. She knew that there was a koi that was close, but not enough. Come on, just a little further. Her eyes opened and she struck her paw in the water again, this time as she pulled out her paw there as a koi stuck to her claws.
"Congratulations." The elder said. "You have passed the test." Zureth turned around with joy, but her face remained calm as ever. The only thing that could of shown the joy were her eyes, with were glowing. She did it. She had passed the test. Now the greatest task remained. To become the best leader she could be.
>> || End of Flashback || <<
And then everyone cheered for their new leader.

Name of elder: Darashea History: Raised by a loving family, consisting of two other sisters she is the middle child. Nothing was ever really special about her and she always sought out ways to show that she was special, that she could prove she was worth while. Personality: Hyper and constanly on the move yet overly friendly Response: Darashea's heart skipped a beat as her name was spoken. 'Me!?' she thought to herself bairly able to contain the exitment flowing through, her tingling her toes. Her sisters looked at her agast that she had been chosen, glancing at them with a giant grin on her face she made her way swiftly to the front of the crowed. Her crystal green eye's eagerly watching for what she was to do, but why was she facing the water? The tip of her tail flicked up as her ears flashed forward listening to the water, there were fish in the water! and not just one or two fish but millions of fish. Digging her claws into the soft muddy earth she glanced to the side as a voice spoke with no more than a whisper in her ear, but could be heard by everyone on the pack. "This will be your test old one."
Darashea let her tail twitch as she wiggled trying to contain her exitment 'what was this test going to be? and why a test in the first place? after all her name had been chosen hadn't it?' "Yes?" Darashea spoke begging the Taranis beside her to continue.
"Purple fish are rare and make a fine heart of a meal, you must bring back one of the purple fish." Darashea looked at the taranis puzzlement lining her face. Feeling a shiver run through her she let her head shake, forcing the water from her head like tiny beads of water. This pattered followed her all the way to her tail, digging her claws further into the mud Darashea smiled looking at the water. 'This wont take long!' She thought to herself. "But wait little one, you are not the only one who will be competing in this test." Darashea turned back to the pack her eyes scanning the crowed.
"Are you serious?" Darashea had expected this in a way, why else would they put her through such a rigorous test unless she was somehow racing the other Taranis. Lowering herself to sit down, her tail swept a path behind her. 'who am I competing against? How many others?' Her concern at the competition seemed to take the edge off her eagerness and push a stern competetive spirit into her. Darashea waited as five other name's were called out and severall other Taranis stepped forward just as she had to greet the challange with just as much if not more eagerness than she had. 'I can do this no problem I just need to focus.' This was one problem Darashea had she wasn't good a focusing, not on anything. Letting her ears fall slightly she could feel her chances of winning lower with every member's named called out.
"Now," came the whisper, "bring back the purple fish." Darashea spun on spot, shaking once again letting the mud and water fly off her fur. Mud poured into her face the other Taranis hadn't even bothered to wait as they burst into running flicking mud into Darashea's face. Shaking her head once again Darashea burst after them, she was not going to loose this challenge, not now not ever. Reaching the water's edge Darashea melded into the water like she herself was the water. Opening her eyes once under water she squinted the other Taranis in front of her had clowded the water, 'idiots' she thought, 'who would want to disturbe the waters flow. Not able to understand their actions Darashea pushed forward into the clearer water her eye's flashing left to right. All she could see were orange black and white butterfly koi. They were everywhere, how could there be so many fish here, what was drawing them to the beach. Shaking off the thought she continued on forward. Needing a fresh breath of air she rose to the surface, one of the Taranis she was cometing against had something in their mouth and were headed to the shore. Shaking her head thinking she was dreaming she took a long deep breath and dove back under.
Tucking her front feet against her body she used her hind legs and tail to guid herself through the water. Eye's falling on an off color fish she pressed forward squinting, was that a purple fish? Heading towards it she felt a blow connect into her right side as another Taranis came from the left. To the left the Taranis took the fish Darashea had been eyeing and left for the shore with the off color fish in his mouth. Forgetting the incedent she looked at the Taranis that had tackled her, this one too had an off color fish in his mouth.
"Better hurry" the Taranis snareled at her through crooked teeth that had peirced and killed the purple fish. Shaking it off she smiled, this was a competition she obviously wasn't going to win. Feeling the sting on her lungs agains she rose to the surface, letting the air escape her lungs she took in a few unsteady breath's and used this time to look around for the other Taranis but she couldn't see any in site. Taking in another long breath she dove back under the water her eyes and head sifting back from side to side in search of the elusive purple fish. Turning around she still couldn't see it, figuring the other Taranis had already won the contest by now Darashea let a bit of the air escape her senting beads of air to the surface, 'where are you.' she thought blinking. Turning around to give one last look through the water Darashe practically fainted there comming towards her was a unmistakable bright purple fish, this fish didn't seem to have the off color as the other ones she had seen the other Taranis take back. "Where you looking for me?"
Darashea's crystal green eyes widdened was this fish talking to her? "w-who are you?"
"I am a gaurdian of the water much like yourself, where you looking for me?" the voice asked again.
Awe struck Darashea shook her head. "I am looking for the purple fish."
"Why are you looking for me." Darashea let the question sift through her head before carefully answering.
"Because I need to find a purple fish in order to prove my worth as a leader."
"Is being a leader this important to you?" Darashea nodded her head slowly, she wasn't competeing for greed or wealth, she was competing to show that every Taranis was just as important as the next. "what will you do if you take me back, will you kill me?"
Darashe looked puzzled, why would she want to kill the fish, they were part of the water's life. "I will do what I can not to kill you." The purple fish seemed to edge to her nose and Darashe carefully took the purple fish in her mouth. "Thank you." Darashea thought but somehow the fish was able to speak to her through thought.
Feeling the sting for air once again Darashea rose to the surface gasping for air, the fish in her mouth flopped and wiggled about. "I can't breath," the gasped words ebbed into her mind. Feeling horrible Darashea dove back under the water.
"Sorry." Swimming towards the shore Darashe paused at the beach, turning herself around she slowly backed out backwards from the water doing her best to keep the fish in the water as long as she could. Glad that it was raining so the fish would be able to keep moist through the jurney to the pack settlement. Whipping around in a fast movement she headed quickly for the village she had to make it there before the fish suffered to much. Her eyes scanning the ground as she ran for anything she could use finding a large enough puddle for the fish she quickly an carefully dropped the small creature into it allowing the fish to gain some air.
"I am sorry." Darashea appologized lowering herself onto all fours moving her nose to the edge of the water. "I am very sorry causing you so much pain. But I need to take you home." Darashea let out a soft whimper looking at the fish in the water. She sat there watching it for a moment longer before she saw another Taranis burst past her with what looked like another purple fish. "We must go." Darashea carefully scooped the fish up back into her mouth and took off racing the other Taranis head for head towards the pack. She had to at least beat this one if none other at least. The two reached the pack in little time Darashea's eyes scanning the area subconsiously headding towards a large body of water that the pack centered around. Carefully lowering the fish into the water she looked back at the other five Taranis, so she wasn't fist she had gathered that but why hadn't one been named yet? Currious and eager to know she followed the others to stand in line. two of the Taranis were still holding wiggling fish in their mouth's. One other Taranis had a fish partly eaten. the other two had dead fish laying in front of them.
"Three choices lay ahead of you." Came the whispering voice, "Return the fish to the water, keep the fish and eat it yourself-" the whisper was cut off as a crunch came from the Taranis with the half eaten fish. "Or you may use the fish to feed the elderly or the young." Darashea lowered her head trying to make the decision, she watched the second Taranis step forward and offer the dead fish to the elderly standing next to a small kit. a third gave it to a child, the forth seemed to be debating giving it away or eating it himself but seemed to settle on himself. That left her and the last Taranis looking to her Darashea noticed the fish was already dead.
Looking back to the whispering Taranis she slowly spoke, "I choose to return the fish to the water, enough of them have been removed today." Darashea rose from the ground walking over to the pond in the middle of the pack and looked down into it, speckled koi swam everywhere looping and dancing about each other another one jumping into the air followed by the purple fish. "Could we wait before returning her, I am certian she will need a break and a chance to calm down from the trauma she has suffered." Having said that a cheer broke through the pack, puzzled Darashea rose to face the pack they were all looking at her cheering their hearts out.
"My child, I am honored to have a caring leader guide us."
