Behatzlacha-S Please... PLEASE not Moyshe. Or any other varient that sounds like an 80-year-old decrepid man. and why not? Moyshe is a perfectly acceptable Hebrew name. However my first male child will be named Yakob/Jacob. signed ~Moyshe ben Schmuel PS:

I would like to make a motion on the board, the 2nd gaia meeting. We turn into Operation: Baby Shower. We can go camping some other time?
Win/Fail?

Both? I'm sure silent would love a bunch of people she's never met before showing up to wish her Mazal Tov!
I can't stand Moyshe because my father's Jewish jokes always have someone named Moyshe in them. This has led to my personal image of a Moyshe to be beyond 80, living in Florida, being hassled by his wife, spending half his time in hospital, and the other carefully avoiding sun stroke on the beach, and having kids that never visit living in new York.
My great-grandfather was a Yakov!
(I can't see that image)

Somewhere on the front page, we discuss how to get people on the guild to meet in real life. Ya know, travel, spend a weekend together, enjoy each other's flavor in Judaism. I was plotting a camping trip this year, maybe instead we'll just have a baby shower... or something like that.

Behatzlacha-S Neuf: Your name must be Moses, then, surely. Actually, no... My secular name was from one relative, my Hebrew name was from another. xp

Darn! With that picture of the Roman dude, and with the name Moses, I thought I had a pretty good idea about who the hell to look out for when we meet up for the trip in 2010 (I can't make America next year... too busy). I can't rely on Darkpheonix because of ever so slight paranoia. Lol.

Well, I doubt my brother would let me go anywere with people he doesn't know. (He's protective like that) But we could probably do something else....online or something.
Oh, and the reason I don't like the name Moyshe is the same reason as Behatzlacha-S's
EDIT: However I did like that idea

xd That's okay- I'm somewhat paranoid, too.
The problem is that while we have these awesome plans, they haven't actually turned out yet besides me meeting Divash, which while awesome, was a whopping 4 people (my mom, dad, her, and myself)

I would already know doomjax1994 because I actually introduced him to Gaia years ago on my old account.

Behatzlacha-S Well that works out in my case. I would avoid the name Reuben. It means: "To replace a lost child". No, it means "he will see sons." This name expresses a wish that the child lives long enough to have children and grandchildren; also a wish that he should have brothers (or siblings; "ben" can mean son or child, depending on the context). It's a very good wish. It's like calling your toddler Bubbeleh, which means "little grandparent," a wish for a long and productive life. Let's start a new thread for baby names, shall we? Silent, if you're Ashkenazi, tell us some of the names (secular and Hebrew, if you know them) of the deceased members of your family. It's customary for Ashkenazim to name a child after a deceased family member in order to give them honor and keep their name and memory alive. If you're Sephardi, tell us some of your living family members, because Sephardim honor people that are still around to appreciate it.
