the doctor told me that my baby is due January 15, and i have one big question, is it true that breast feeding your baby is better than baby formula because when you feed them formula it can give your baby a yeast infection

Breast milk is best for many reasons. Breast milk has the perfect mix of everything that babies need. Breast milk also has antibodies that help babies fight off infections. So babies who have breast milk for at least the first six months of their life are much healthier on average.

You can read this for more information: http://www.fda.gov/fdac/features/895_brstfeed.html

You should also talk to your doctor about it as your medications and any illnesses will have to be closely monitored during breastfeeding.

(Didn't you post earlier this month saying you were on the Depo shots for birth control though? http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=14277435 Are you saying you were getting Depo shots for the first 7 or 8 months of your pregnancy and only just found out you're pregnant?)

well i got on depo because i was having really heavy periods and it was ruining my underwear, but yes i am proud to say that i am having my own child

So you're about 8 months along and you've been on Depo throughout your entire pregnancy? You and your doctor didn't realize you were pregnant until now? That's possible, but it's pretty darn unlikely...

Your doctor should have given you a pregnancy test before giving you Depo. While on Depo, you only have about a .3% of chance of getting pregnant if you get your shots on time. If you're ever late getting a shot, the doctor should have given you another pregnancy test before giving you another shot of Depo.

And at 8 months, it should be pretty obvious that you're pregnant.

So if what you say is true, you should find a new doctor and see that new doctor as soon as possible. You might want to talk to a lawyer too. Depo is really strong stuff, and it absolutely is not meant to be taken during pregnancy.

"Infants born to women exposed to Depo during pregnancy in one study had an 80% greater chance of dying in the first year of life."

i knew i was pregnant when i went to the doctor and they said i was 3 months along because i was throwing up and i was getting really bad head aches and i felt dizzy so i went to the doctor and that is when i found out, so i went to family planning and told them the situation and they said i can't just get off depo when ever i wanted to, so i started missing my appointments to get the depo on purpose at the 5th month, so i am hoping that my baby will survive now *holds stomach and rubs it* my husband and i really want this child, i got a emancipation and now my husband and i really want a kid so we can start a family i am 16 and Jacob is 18,i will be hoping and praying that this baby will survive, but what will happen if it does survive?will something be wrong with it?

Depo can take a while to leave your system. But you can stop taking the shots anytime you want to. There's no reason why you couldn't. So if your doctor honestly lied to you for some reason and was trying to force you into getting another Depo shot, then like I said, talk to a lawyer and don't go back to that doctor.

If the baby does survive, we can't say for sure whether it will have anything wrong with it. All we can say is that it could go either way. Depo certainly isn't good for a baby, but it's not a guarantee that things will go wrong either. Oddly enough, babies are both fragile and resilient. It's something your doctor should have already discussed with you.

Have you considered adoption? I don't like to suggest that to expectant mothers, but I am very concerned for this baby's well being at this point, and I am sorry, but so far I am not convinced that you two will make even adequate parents.

At 16 and 18 years old, most people can't support themselves let alone a baby. Do you guys have your own place? Is there room for a third person in it? Do you have a car? Have you been seeing an ob-gyn regularly? Are you taking prenatal vitamins? Do you have health insurance to add the baby to? Are you finished with school? Do you have plans for college? Do you have money in the bank? Can your partner support himself, you, and a baby? Have you kept up a healthy diet?

Like most 16 year olds, you don't seem to have an understanding of your body, your baby's body, health issues, birth control, how to talk to doctors, how to check the side effects of your medications, etc. And that has already put your baby's life in danger. That's not acceptable for a mother or an expectant mother. Again, not to be rude, but it does make me wonder what else your baby will be exposed to simply because you two don't have the knowledge to be parents yet.

yeah we do have our own place but i rather keep the baby in the same room as us so nothing happens to her and so we wil know that no one can kid nap her, i have a job and he has a part time job so i think we can give the baby everything it need, i want her to stay in the same room as us until she is able to scream and walk, because if anything was to happen to her Jacob and i would be really upset, but we are thinking about putting blankets over all of the windows at night so we will be sure that nothing will happen to the baby or us, jacob and i have been saving half of our checks up for the baby only and we spend the rest on bills, so i know my beautiful baby girl will have a really good life, right now we have a one bedroom house but when the baby turns one or sometime b4 we are going to add a extra bedroom on to the house just for her
