Since I still think in DnD stats a lot, I tend to have lots of characters with once per day abilities. Case in point the jalthorian racial power of the psychic shield, and Jancor's Arcane Strike.

Well, it's just as well. If your characters could use their powers whenever they want, Your story would probablly start looking more like an episode of *shudder stressed * DBZ.
Also, I'd like to think DnD inspires some of your best work. After all, if you weren't such an avid DnD fan, you never would have created those Half-snake vore people. (I forgot how to spell their name. sweatdrop )
