Darren heard the mumble and realized that perhaps Jacob took a different meaning to them than he meant. "Sorry, Jax. Didn't mean them for real.." he sighed, running a hand through his hair. But it still seemed like there was a wall between them and he wasn't sure why or how to, ah, knock it down. Hopefully without crushing either of them. "Tell you what, feel free to return the favor. I won't tickle torture you, promise." he said, holding up a hand like a swearing scout.
But it seemed futile and he lowered his hand, eyeing the other a moment before inclining his head. "Let's head back downstairs...Alex probably needs some backup.." he murmured, making an effort to include Alex for Jacob's sake. As he headed out, he paused before setting his hand on Jax's shoulder, giving it a squeeze. "Don't give up on us, Jax. We're best friends for life." he said, meeting the other's gaze a moment before heading off downstairs.
Downstairs, Maddix and Sorcia didn't seem..pleased, but finding out that the brothers had been a couple wasn't exactly..the sweetest news ever...
Alex looked up as Darren and Jacob entered, and he watched Darren a moment. Darren gazed up at the other before punching Alex's arm lightly. "Welcome to the family, kid."
Alex grinned, a weight lifted and Sorcia and Maddix smiled a little. "Thanks. But since you're in Jax's body, and he's the smallest, right now I'd say you're the kid." he said, smirking a little, teasing. For a moment, he feared he'd made a mistake when Darren frowned...
And then grinned. "Nah. It's still you. Followed closely by Jax." Darren said, tilting his gaze to Jax, offering him a tentative smile, really hoping he'd get something from the other to give him hope that he and Jax could be close again.

"I'm not particularly interested in it." Jacob said. He blinked and nodded slightly. There wasn't any point in doing so. He didn't want to say another insult, however. He stayed in the empty room for a moment. What was he doing? He shouldn't be moping about this sort of stuff. He wanted... He had wanted to make Darren suffer a little but he should probably fix their problem now. Make it all better.
He stared at the plushie before nodding to himself and following Darren downstairs. He glanced between his brother and his sister and Maddix, a little worried about how they took the news. He sighed and leaned against the door, watching the others interact before smiling slightly.
"Yeah, Alex, that doesn't make any sense. Aren't you younger than me?" Jax mused. He was teasing lightly. But not seriously. And he still was wondering when he should switch them back. Now? Or later, when they were both asleep?

Alex blushed a little, crossing his arms. "Yeah, well, I'm taller than you. Usually. So there." he said, playfully smug as he stuck his tongue out at Jacob. It was good to be playing and teasing with the other again..to have his brother back...
Darren grinned between Alex and Jacob and Sorcia smirked. "Two big brothers...that means double the presents on my birthday."
"You would be thinking of that." Darren said, rolling his eyes as Sorcia grinned broadly.
Alex smiled before moving to stand beside Jacob, punching his arm. "Damn, I guess this means I'll have to start being all nice to you at school again..gossip of the century..my amazing self, being nice to my squirt of a bit brother.." he sighed dramatically, but clearly teasing and meaning nothing unkind in his words. His gaze slid to Darren. "And of course..you two being back together...you are back, right?"
Darren froze at the question, glancing to Jacob, still uncertain of the other's feelings but he nodded. "In all but body...unless Jacob decides it's too intimidating to have my amazing self as a best friend." he joked, watching the other's reaction.

"Who knows, maybe I'll hit a growth spurt soon and then you won't be taller than me." Jacob remarked softly. It was partly in jest but he didn't mean that he didn't want it to happen. He'd love to be taller than he actually was. At least that way he wouldn't have to look up to his younger brother.
An exasperated smile played on his lips at Sorcia's words. "Don't you get enough presents?" Girls had such one-track minds sometimes.
He tilted his head. He didn't say anything at first, blinking a little. After a moment he gave Darren a small smirk. "I thought I was the amazing one, Darren."

Alek heard the soft remark and paused before shrugging. "Well, now that you know you're a wizard, maybe you can give yourself one." he realized that perhaps it hadn't been the best joke, but if the other did ever want to use magick for such a thing, he'd help.
Sorcia smiled slyly. "There's no such thing, brother mine." Maddix looked skyward and Alek laughed.
Darren, as Jakob said nothing, started to tense before he saw the smirk and then he heard the jest back. He blinked in surprise before grinning broadly. "No, no. You're the fantastic one. I called dibs on amazing. In my mind. It still counts." he grinned unrepentantly, and Alek laughed again. Once he wasn't playing a*****e, he was actually rather amiable. Maddix smirked and Sorcia was smiling.

"With you, sister of mine, there should be. A limit or something." Jacob remarked. He spoiled his sister often enough to know that she got more than enough presents. Much more than enough.
He blinked at Darren before shaking his head, smiling. "Fantastic? Is that so? I'm honoured~" He paused for a moment. "Hmm... What does that make Alek and Maddix then? We already know that Sorcia's a spoiled little girl." He knew that he was going to get hit right now. But it was all in good fun.

Sorcia pouted at the first bit before she glared, mostly playfully, as she came over and stood on her tip toe's to whack Jacob's, or rather-technically, Darren's head. "Hmph. You're so mean, I don't know why I'm such a good sister to you." she drawled before grinning up at him. "I guess you're a pretty decent brother, sometimes, so I still love you."
Maddix snickered and she shot him a glare. "W-What? I was just...overcome with sentiment.." he snickered again and then made a face of terror as she glared a bit more, but they were both playing.
Darren felt his heart lift when the other smiled and joked back. And at the question, he paused before smirking. "We can choose for each of our brothers. So you pick Alek, and let's see...Maddix is a dork who wishes he was half as amazing as me." he grinned.
Maddix put a hand to his heart as though injured. "You've cut me to the quick, little brother." he said dramatically.
Darren, Alek, and Sorcia laughed at the eldest's antics. Alek grinned at Jacob, leaning against a table with his arms crossed. "So, bro? What does that make me?"

Jax smirked as he watched Darren and Maddix. It seemed so easy for those two to play around and tease and all those other things. Would it be that easy for himself and Alek to become like that when they had been...
Ah, it was hard to think of that now. It seemed impossible that they could have done all the things that they did just because he though of Alek as a brother now when he thought of him as his ex at the beginning of the day. But it didn't change the fact that they had. Oh... He hoped that their mother never found out about it. Jax didn't want her trying to ban them from seeing Alek.
Jax blinked and tilted his head. "That makes yo--" Whatever Jax intended on calling Alek was cut off by the doorbell. Jacob glanced towards the door wondering who it possibly could be. "...Ah. It must be Matt. Finally kicked everyone out from his place."The person standing at the door was definitely not Matt. Unless Matt had suddenly grown and coloured his hair, got a tattoo on his cheek and was wearing robes now.

Alex grinned at Jax as he awaited what it was that he was...and then he heard the doorbell. He paused and then looked to the others before following as Darren and the rest headed for the door, Sorcia at Jax's side, peering out curiously when the door was opened.
Alex spotted the person and stiffened, eyes widening. A member of the Council. He instinctively moved a bit out of the way, not wanting to be spotted. In the animal world, wizards and witches would be...dogs, or perhaps lions, but warlocks were considered jackals. Lower beasts. Scavengers. Wicked. To be a warlock by birth wasn't a crime, but they were generally treated like criminals anyway, and wizards who went warlock were considered rogues and they too got the criminal treatment. The last thing he wanted was to be here now, with one of the worst of the lot-a Council member-here. What could he want?
Their father, Giamonde, was considered a rogue, but worse, a powerful one. A former Council member that they hadn't yet found in order to execute him...did they know about himself and Jax? He prayed not.
Darren looked the person over but before he could speak, Maddix stepped forward. Already on the rise to being one of the most powerful wizards of the age, he didn't fear the Council...
Beyond what was necessary.
"What are you doing here?" he queried, the question not very polite, although the tone was.

That...was definitely not Matthew. Jax frowned, unsure of who it was or what was going on. But it didn't seem like Alek or Maddix were happy about this person showing up when he did. The...person looked young. Was it really that bad that he was here now? Whoever he was.
The man at the door stared at Maddix, tilting his head slightly. He didn't say a word at first, instead looked across all the visible faces before settling on Maddix once more. "I'm sure that you are aware of the missing artefacts, are you not? I was sent to retrieve them and to discover the exact means by which they were taken, in order to prevent this from happening again."

(I dunno but it's irritating ;-; *sob*)
Maddix watched as the man inclined his head a bit before speaking. "I don't know of the means by which they were taken. Someone sent them to my brothers," he had no problem calling Jacob that, "And now they're experiencing life from each other's eyes, as it were. Until they switch back, you can't retrieve them," he said firmly-though he knew that if the other decided to press the issue, there could be trouble. He hoped to placate him with his next offer. "But I'd be happy to offer my services in assisting in finding out what happened, and returning the necklaces as soon as my brothers are restored."
Alex looked agitated, almost hiding behind Jacob. It wasn't so much hiding as trying to just not be noticed though, he couldn't be apprehended for being there, but he knew that some of Council and other 'good' wizards-ha, that was a laugh-might try and find a reason to do so.
Darren stood beside Jacob, a little ahead of him, seeming to have decided that even in his smaller form-he was going to protect Jacob. It was a familiar stance, an identifiable song and dance albeit in each other's body's and was a good indicator of Darren's feelings, that he'd meant what he said about caring about Jacob, and having never been the one to hurt him, not intentionally and not until he'd thought Jacob had done so first.
Sorcia was standing a little beside Maddix, hands on her cocked hips as she frowned at the 'intruder', not trusting a member of the Council, not at all.

The Council member stared at Maddix for a moment before looking at the other boys in the group. "Mm... I see..." He paused before nodding slightly. "That makes sense. I would appreciate it if you would allow me to stay with you while you assist me. Your brothers and...?" He looked to Sorcia, trying to determine if she was the sister or a friend versed in magick. "Are any of them capable of helping us search?"
Jax reached out and touched Alek's hand, worried for his brother. He didn't really notice that Maddix included him as his brother since his younger brother would be in a hell of a lot of trouble if this Council person realized what he was and who they were. He didn't want anything to happen. Well, apart from having switched with Darren.

Maybe they'll fix it if someone posts in the bug forum? ))

Maddix watched the other, not wanting the Councilman to stay but not really in a position to tell him to leave. "They may or may not. My magick exceeds theirs though, so as long as I'm helping to search, things should even out." he said smoothly.
Alex in turn slid his hand into Jax' and held it tightly, not liking this situation one bit. He wasn't a bad guy, he didn't ask to be a warlock...but he was one anyway and he needed to be careful.
Maddix eyed the other a moment before asking. "Why did you come here though, did you sense the necklaces? If so, I'd say there's a problem... surely the thief wouldn't have wanted them to be able to be tracked..." he pointed out.

Jax glanced at Maddix, not wanting for this stranger to stay here. What about Alek? This was going to put him in danger. Wasn't there anything that they could do?
The Council member nodded at Maddix words, though frowned when Maddix asked him why he had come there. Wasn't it obvious? "I was informed of you capabilities. They recommended that I get in contact with you, to help with the search." he glanced towards Alek, frowning slightly. There was something... He shook his head. "I'd like to come in now."
