Um, guys....don't go mono colored....it's suicide.....one CoP could destroy you.
Cop?

-circle of protection.
Not a problem. Doesn't stop loss of life or protect world effects.

Not only does is not stop loss of life, etc., but Circle Pro. can't stop every creature attacking you. Remember, 1 mana will stop the damage dealt by 1 creature. I mean, so what if your attacking and their CoP means you only do 3 damage a turn instead of 10, you'll still kill them. And besides, if you have more creatures than they have mana, you've nothing to worry about.

EDIT: Just wondering. I haven't checked lately, but are there any relatively cheap (let's say 4 mana and under) INSTANT black discarders. Such a spell would come in handy against Gifts, and would make it definitely worth a Sideboard.
Dude, There's only been one instant-speed discard in the history of Magic. Although Distress helps in a jiffy, and to combat the asshats that Gifts for two win conditions and to recovery spells, there's the instant-speed "Remove four target cards from the game" card in Ravnica.

Yes, but I don't have ANY of those. And also, does the instand "Remove four target cards from the game" affect a players hand, or the permanents he/she controls? Not only that, but Distress is a sorcery, not an instant. I need an instant discard effect....

EDIT: Ok, found the card. Removes them from the graveyard, and for an easy peasy 2B. Now, I need to get 4 for a sideboard. Also found some other spells/creatures to sideboard as well... man, I need to go through my stuff.

Dude, there is no instant discard in Standard. If anyone, ask Nelson.

Note: My parents are going to let me run into Regina tomorrow. I'm thinking of buying singles for a primo control deck.

Dude-man-guy, if you are going to Regina tomorrow for singles (or for anything), could you pick me up a few cards (for which I'll pay you back)? If so, I'll just tell you now, just in case:

- **2 Nezumi Shortfand (the Discard Rat Hero/rare)**
- 4 Dimir Machinations (uncommon)
- 2 Nezumi Bonereader (uncommon)
- **2 Persecute (rare)**
- **4 Shred Memory (The four remover/common, I believe)**
- 4 Strands of Undeath (common)
- 1 Disrupting Scepter (rare)
- **4 Cruel Edict (9th Edition uncommon)**

If you can, please get what you can. Especially the ones with the set of **'s around them. Those are especially needed to make a sideboard. In addition to paying you back, I would be eternally grateful.

Sure a CoP doesn't provide total protection but it does provide a good deterrant for long enough.

Not even then. I mean, CoP just becomes a minor annoyance to you. Instead of killing them faster, you just keep blowing up their creatures until you can get by the CoP.

It prevents diddly against the deck I have. Sorry, but yeah... And noone runs those anyway. they run Hand of Honors.

The only CoP that is even slightly useful is CoP Red, because Red's main focus is direct damage, hence the ability to stop the damage. Black however is hard to fight off with CoP Black, you know, with all the life loss, and the creature deaths and the oh my god it's hurting-ness.

Yeah. Well.

2 Days. Freaking Joy.

And my mono-black seems to be failing.

There could also have been the fact that Mike's brainwaves were disrupting. Both of them. But still.

Yeah, it's pretty sweet. Apparently when around two people playing (othet than myself), I generate an anit-win field/aura around one of them, as was demonstrated by Rob yesterday...

That was brutal. I've seen your deck, I don't know how it can fail that bad. I mean, it should of at least had a 30(you)/70(Glen) win ratio. Mind boggling. But, if this thing holds up, maybe it will work for me at the tourney.
