it's all a freaking scam. for $3 you can get one of those boards at wal-mart, and the lotion is nasty and sticky and not made from dead sea salt, but they claim it anyways because there's no regulations on cosmetics.

Ick, I had one of those. Didn't do too much for me. Waste of money in my eyes

Buffing block, $4 name brand ($1-2 drugstore brand, but can't find examples as quickly, just go to a store)
I've had my buffing block since I was uhh....12? I'm 20 now. To make it look better/work better, rub the first one for the full nail that is super-fine sandpaper on something like your pant leg to get the nail remains off of it.

Cuticle oil, $3.
Or, just use some oil from your kitchen. It seriously does not matter, the "oil" part is the important word.

Hand lotion? Just use lotion. It is all the same unless you're applying it to sensitive areas (which pretty much just means your face)

I agree, the buffing thing is amazing, but it is not a good idea to buy these things in kits or sets without googling it first and asking at a local drugstore.

So I realize I'm whoa late to this topic, but natural nail care is very relevant to my interests.

I'm working a crummy, minimum-wage job right know that involves a lot of repetitive, hard work with my hands. My nails were never in great shape to begin with (biter, here...) but it's only gotten worse since I took this job.

Any pro tips on what kind of oils work best for a soak, or where I could go to find out?

ah hahaha! You got reeled in!!! Just like I did when I was shopping for my mom!!!!

The buff is a beautiful polish shine for several days but after awhile it dulls away. I use to be obsessed with buffing my nails too until one day I was carrying text books and 3 out of my 10 nails bent when I was trying to catch them when I dropped them. OW!

It was then I thought. why am I thinning out the top of my nail???

I found that if you buy a good nail filer, one that is made of stone and not very sandy or gritty will give you a more smoother edge finish, don't cut or scrap away cuticles, if they're hiddeous get a pair of nail scissors and clip the parts that are only hanging off or sticking up or dry. After shower or right before bed, wash your hands with warm water and soap, swing dry (no towel not yet) use a bit of body butter (my sis brought me some "Grass" From bath and body works) and just rub it on, it will take a few minutes for it all to aborb in and make sure you rub it into your nails and cuticles.

biggrin and you should have pretty hands in no time.
