Right. What happens to alyx in ep 2 has nothing to do with eli. The reason eli is allowed to die is because the gman saved alyx back in black mesa 10 years ealier (just like CSrocks said) and so eli had to eventually pay the price.

That might be the case, but the Gman definitely did not kill Eli.

no he did not, well, not by his hands, but its almost like he said to the advisers (if he actually didnt do this), "eli is going to be at (blank) at (blank) time"

The G-man certainly has special powers. He's not the average human. I'm not even sure if he's evil or good. He can transport wherever he wants to go. But he's incredibly intelligent as well. Making pawns of almost everyone. But he has, "employers". Meaning he's not the top man.

I think The Gman works for a private company that indirectly tries to influence every government in the universe to said company's favor. The combine invading earth did not favor the company. So they sent Gman to try and fix it. If they wanted earth to them self for company purposes or private use or they have other plans for it is unknown and may never be.
Also to the people who said that the vorts are enemys of the Gman or something like that I always thought that the Gman made the vorts come there because I wasn't looking at the Gman when they came. But my new theory is that The vorts want freeman to do something else for them. And Saving freeman and Alyx was their ticket to convincing him to do so in the future. Since the Gman has his own plans for freeman he dose not want the vorts to help freeman nor does he like them.
Also I'm sure Eli dieing had nothing to do with the Gman. I think the Gman is like the The don of the Corleone family in the beginning in the first Godfather movie. If you don't follow that reference, The Don agrees to do a favor by protecting this mans daughter. But in return The don may call on him on day. This day may never come but he should always be ready if it does. So The Gman saved Alyx from Black mesa and Eli was to repay it by doing the Gman a favor in the near future unless he had already done it. So any comment on these theories ?

I'm not really sure what to think. The Gman is sorta made to give out the word: government man in HL:OF. Gman wasn't really given a choose to watch over Freeman but others as well so he most likely "hired" to be a supervisor to him and some others. He was likely to be hired to watch Eli as well, he also might have known that Gman was once watching him in Black Mesa. Probably, since he died when Alyx got a message from Gman, it was probably a warning for Eli that he will die soon. Probably for not following a certain "contract" he accepted. Freeman might have also gone thru the same thing in the ending of half-life. The contract could also be a "sign me up" for a job relating to Gman, also being a possible messenger of higher ups more powerful than the entire Combine army as well. Could also be people that determine the certain destiny of others and to what they should do.
