PixieByte Yvaine I'm thankful for... Biscuits! Man, are they excellent for soaking up extra gravy! I have two great biscuits recipes. One is for sweet Cinnamon Biscuits and the other is just normal biscuits but I tweaked the recipe so they come out huge! I posted the recipes in Recipes Made by moms with love biggrin Author: Captain~Fleatch so you'll find them there.

So any day now I should be going into labor that means family and friends all coming over to the hospital to touch and handle my new born.I plan to ask everyone to wash there hands before they touch her but how can I be sure they did it right? I have been thinking of ways to make sure only clean hands touch my little one and I wanted your input. I don't want to be rude or offend anyone so if any of my ideas send mixed messages let me know. *Idea one* to show my appreciation for the support and kindness of showing up I was thinking of passing out hand sanitizer with sweet fragrances. They say it's made for sensitive skin and the nurses say the fragrance shouldn't be abrasive to the baby. *Idea Two* I also thought maybe giving out thank you cards with little reminders that say "Please Wash your Hands" or "Don't forget to wash your hands" *Idea Three* make an excuse so that no one can touch her. This idea was really my mothers she says that she didn't allow anyone to her children until we were at least 3 months So what do you think? Have any other ideas?

enlist the nurses' help. They can watch things better than we can and sound more authoratative, too. The little hand sanitizers sound wonderful too - especially if there are a couple for the nurses you enlist to help you!

Personally, I find most people are more than willing to give a new mother some leeway as far as tact. Anyone who wants to pitch a fit over being asked to wash their hands probably shouldn't be allowed to hold the baby, not so much from a disease standpoint but because it's so rude to refuse a new mother's reasonable request.
That said, I never worried about clean hands with my children, and neither of them got sick from being handed back and forth to every member of the extended family. I'm sure breast-feeding comes into play there at least a bit - antibodies get passed along with the milk. So if you can, please do breast-feed! Pumping is fine, the antibodies are still there.
I actually really love the idea of passing out little bottles of hand sanitizer - that's so cute! Pink for a girl, blue for a boy (I think you said you're having a girl, so pink it is). After all, it's not like anybody passes out cigars anymore.
Best of luck to you! It gets crazy during labor and you'll worry because you don't know what to expect - but you will get through it all fine, and you'll do great!

With H1N1 going around hand washing should be enforced especially since they want to touch a small baby.
I will be posting a topic about that for mom's too I found out some interesting stuff off the doctors!

THANK YOU SO MUCH! Everyone loved the idea and were very respectful of my wishes. Oh And.... She's here! I went into Labor on Monday October 26th and 16 hours later shes finally here! I was induced (My mother feels it was unnecessary) because my cervix refused to dilate and crying I broke down and had an epidural after 12 hours of labor. Mostly because after 12 hours I was only at a 6cm. Yet I did bite (more like breathed) through some chart toppers. That's when my mother came; just in time! the doctors were talking about a Cesarean birth because the babies heartbeat was dropping below 90 and I still hadn't dilated (not to mention I wasn't handing it so well) anyway my mother and fiance worked together messaging my back and belly to coax the baby down inducing the last contractions. My mother also let me know that I was not breathing right with her instructions the labor took a great turn, the babies heartbeat stopped dropping and the pain subsided. After five minutes (what was taking hours) I finally could push! Again my mother was a God send with eight pushes I delivered Adrianne Danielle on October 27th (her due date after ultrasound) at 10:42 am. Adrianne weighed 5 lbs 12 onces 17 inches long. Whats more we did great breastfeeding i had trouble latching but I had so much support (mostly the babies co-operation) that we did really well. she's only three days old and I'm so proud of her. She had her check up today and weighed in at 5lbs 19oz looks like she'll be a butter ball in no time!
