Kail is absolutely right. Honestly I wouldn't doubt if the Dragon Plate ends out being less then the Dragon Chain Mainly because it is partly a quest item.

Well, for one, Dragon Plates have far better stats then Chainbodies. This will most likely insure that the price of Plates will stay above the price of Chains.
Also, apparently getting Armor shard drops from Tormented Demons is not a common thing. And neither is getting a Chainbody as a drop/Barbarian Assault prize. And since the Platebody is 3 rare drops to make, (2 if you include the shard from the quest) while the Chainbody is one rare drop, this would make the Platebody harder to obtain.
Now, I also think that the chance of getting a Shard is higher then the chance of getting a Chain, but the point is that there are 3 pieces to it, thus making it equally or more rare then a Chain. Hmm...just how rare are Shard drops, anyways? O_o
But yeah, and there is also the fact that you need 92 Smithing and completion of While Guthix Sleeps to make the platebody out of these shards. Unless they updated it, you also cannot use Assist.
With the Grand Exchange working like it normally does, prices of the Armor Shards and the Platebody will change so that people who buy the shards and make the plate will not profit from this, if it hasn't already.
M'kay, basically my point is, I do not think that the Plate will become cheaper then the Chain. xp
