The Civil War. One of the bloodiest wars in American history, claiming 600,000 lives, young and old, north and south. Ive been doing civil war reenactments for five years and it's fun, bit at the same time you get a kind of eerie feeling. But its still fun XD

You do know that most of those lives weren't from battles, but from disease?

well some of the wounds were so horrific and debilitating the soldiers actually needed the cosmetic reconstructive surgery however primitive it was at the time. I've seen photos of civil war soldiers surviving with their lower jaw blown clean off.
