 Sub-Contra Bass Saxophone. Also called Tubax. It's lower than the tuba. Does anybody else know of any amazing but lesser known instruments?

I don't know if it's lesser, but alto flute is amazing! I played one once and was instantly in love.

x snew Sub-contrabass Clarinets. =)! Hehe. I've been simply DYING to try the Octocontrabass clarinet. Only ONE has been made. Octocontra alto clarinets (3 of those little b**tards have been made) are pretty awesome as well, but not as low - so obviously not as awesome.

Flugelhorn. It might not be lesser known, but it's definitely underappreciated. That and the Eb horn. (known as alto horn in the US and tenor horn in England)

Contrabass Sarrusophone. It's the lowest double reed in manufacture, and so unknown my computer's spell check doesn't even recognize it.
