I guess they're platforms for the same reason people like high heels!?

I'm not that tall, but I want to be shorter (say, 5'4'' or something would be perfect!) That being said, I do love my platforms, and the only white Lolita shoes I own are white strap shoes with a chunky heel (they're actually quite cute, but the straps cut into my feet after I wear them for more than an hour, and they are hard to walk in!), so I end up wearing them a lot with my single Lolita dress, because my black shoes look awful with it.
I'm always on the lookout for flat mary janes though. I've been ducking into every shoe store I pass for about a year now, but I haven't found any yet. The stores around here are awful. I would love to buy a pair of shoes off ebay with little bows on them, but my parents won't let me buy shoes over the net. sad
And perhaps these aren't very Lolita, but I would just love a pair or purple sparkly platforms. They'd be so awesome! heart

I love some platforms, but I couldn't get away with it. I mean, I'm just 5'4" but some high heels make me look taller than usual. So, if I was to wear platforms...um, I guess the outfit can help balance it out.

They're nice and comfy now that they're broken in, so I can wear them all day, around town or to conventions smile And at NZ$30 they were a nice price too smile It's weird how all the dedicated shoe stores just have high heels or sneakers and nothing in between biggrin

 i don't like platforms because they usually have a heel. my feet are... not well, so i can't wear heals. which annoys me. i can wear little tiny ones, as long as they aren't little points at the bottom. but wide. but i like platforms like creepers, or any that are not higher at the heel.

You don't always have to wear platforms. They are just popular. There are a ton of other cute lolita shoes you can wear. Just check the brand sites or SS shoes.

Miki-San-X I usually wear flats with my lolita dresses (because I don't have platforms for one thing) and because I feel super gigantic in high heels (i'm 5'5") 5'5" is a great height! I wish I was as tall as you, even with heels you'd still be shorter than many guys, so it's okay smile

Little Miss Lunacy I'm tall. That's all I can really say. But, I always see shoes I like, but they aways have platforms that are too tall for me. Normally, I don't care very much at all about shoes, I can go to formal parties in sneakers. But, occasionally, it's good to have some shoes that are showy. Do any of you have problems with shoes that are too tall? not yet.......

yes I definitely have that problem
I'm tall, and I have big feet so high platforms are not really ideal
they make some flat lolita shoes though
theyre not too hard to find

Yes and I have the bonus of having rather large feet xp . I always have to watch out what kind of shoe I wear or I might twist my ankle ( not used to very high heels) I like wedges but platforms.... lets say they and me mix like oil and water they make me look like a monster sweatdrop
