Liema's claws connected with Orin's face, but she was the one to let out a cry! And he was the one letting out a triumphant chuckle...

It was enough to make Liema wonder what would've happen if she'd actually managed to get to his eyes. As it was, the feeling of her claws splitting his flesh repulsed her. Made her feel nautious. She nearly fainted.

She cringed as he slipped beneath her and then emerged facing her again. He moved forward to attack once more, and Liema dove forward to try to save herself. His teeth came down on a clump of her mane. The hair came out with a rrrrrip, individual strands falling to the ground and floating around Orin's mouth.

Liema hoped that he choked on them.

Then pain ripped through the back of her neck, and she moaned. Still though, she focused on somehow disabling him. She spun her head around and snapped at Orin's tail as he finished out his leap.

It was rightful to say that getting a mouthful of fur had definitely not been Orin's plan, that it had caught him off guard, and it distracted him for the most minute of moments. Spitting out the fur and trying to get it off his tongue for only a moment, he hissed in response to the pain caused when the female's teeth caught only the end of his tail.

Well, that certainly hadn't been part of his plan. No less-

He pulled the upper part of his body to move with the fact that his tail have been pulled, curving himself and spinning around to go for the female's face - any part of it, regardless of whether or not he got part of his tail caught between his jaws. Injuries to himself? Unimportant. To her?

Very important.

Liema ducked, sobbing, as tears ran down her face. No. No. She couldn't cry. If tears filled her eyes she wouldn't be able to see, and then she wouldn't be able to fight.

Orin's jaws caught the tip of her head, and... one of her horns. With a sickening crack, the horn cracked in half, toppling to the ground. Liema stared at it numbly, shocked tears now flowing freely. He-He-

She spun and screeched, attacking his back, claws battering his spine in panicked outrage.

She was in pain. But she was too full of adreniline to notice.

There it was. There was the fiery passion he'd been trying to inspire in the female, a tremour running down his spine as he snapped off one of the others horns. That would definitely hurt her, but he didn't have much time to think about that. Black eyes widened slightly and he left her attack him, digging his claws into the ground, biding his time, letting her get the upper hand as he lowered himself slowly onto the ground...

...and tumbled over, letting her upper body fall back to the ground and ending up on his back, stomach revealed, underneath her. Without hesitating, as soon as he had his chance, claws extended, he slammed his paws against her side, digging in as much as he could and growling deeply.

He would still win this fight. He knew that very well.

But he still wanted to have a little fun.

Liema hit him again and again, grunting and giving little yelps as she pounded his flesh. He slowly sank to the ground, lower and lower. Was she winning? No... If so, only because he wanted her to. But... Why would he want that? Was this dragon suicidal, but without the nerve to go jump off a cliff or the willpower to hold his head underwater? No, suicide by a provoked fight would require more nerve and willpower than it would take to end your life by the usual methods... So then, why was he--

Orin turned beneath her, and Liema let out a gasp, paws scrabbling on the dirt to either side of him. She collapsed onto his chest, head halting inches from his own. She screeched again, and tried to scramble back to her feet, repulsed by how close she'd gotton to the monster.

Then, he slammed his paws into her side, and Liema froze with a shuddering gasp. She could feel his claws digging through his flesh. She felt trickles of blood bursting from her skin.

But she wasn't dead yet. She wasn't dead yet.

She hadn't managed to severely handicap him yet... She had to do that, at least, before.... before she died.

She roared and lunged at his neck, teeth prepared to come down on his flesh.

She was fighting back, that was for sure. But he'd never before put himself in this vulnerable of a position. With even a single jerk of his head, he had to think quickly.

He would be breaking teeth, ruining his hunting ability, but he would stay alive this way, right? A moment of weakness, perhaps, in the eyes of this female? No, of course not! He knew what he was doing, and it would just to be making her panic.

As her jaw came down, his jerked up, mouth opening to lock her teeth with his, the claws already dug into her flesh tearing down, pulling with them as much flesh as they could possibly get, back legs raising up to claw at her stomach, attempt to dig into it and win this fight while the sun was still fresh in the sky, staining the clouds red...

Liema jerked her head back in disgust, a tooth ripping out of her mouth as she did so. Her sides felt... open. Exposed to the air. She cried out and tore herself away from the attacking dragon. She scrambled a few feet away from him and then collapsed upon the ground, belly down, bleeding. She felt some of her internal organs shiiift, torn loose by Orin's crawling.

She gasped for breath, but it sounded... wrong. Wet. Liema suddenly coughed, and blood speckled the ground around her mouth. Internal bleeding.

This was it.

She was really dieing.

Liema didn't think there was any way she could survive now... And she hadn't even managed to hurt Orin enough to save other would-be victims...

She had failed. And now she was going to die.

She stared at Orin out of the corner of her dull eyes, life draining from them even as she did so. Still.... She probably had at least a few seconds.

"Wh-why?" she gasped, desperate to understand her murderer's motives at least a fraction...

((And I thought Liema's posts were going to be gentler. o.o I've decided: Rping the dragon being gruesomely murdered is much worse than rping the murderer. wink ))

Orin growled, a pained sound, as a few of his fangs were torn out of his mouth by the female, making him snap his mouth shut, flipping over as the other crawled back, forfeiting. She had no fight left in her. There was no reason for her to try anymore, and now she knew it.

Orin panted softly, the missing teeth causing blood to drip from the sides of his mouth as he walked forward slowly. Blood from the eyes, now blood from the mouth. How very amusing, where this girl managed to wound him.

He gave her a smile, that painful, sarcastic expression, where not a single ounce of kindness would be found, and an evil chuckle rose up from his chest.

"All that work to get me to shut up, and you want me to talk now?" he asked, that same grating voice being what came from his mouth. He shook his head slowly, black strands of his mane falling into his eyes. He took a step forward and pressed his paw to the female's throat, cutting her air supply and thus making her death quicker. But his eyes narrowed in confusion of his motives, a moment too late for him to remove the paw, to let her suffer.

Had he just shown her a merciful death...?

Liema's eyes widened as the monster stood over her, paw on her neck. A strangled choking sound came from her throat, and she felt her life ebbing away...

He was a monster. Blood was running from his eyes and mouth, and he was laughing.

Liema quaked silently as her dieing body desperately tried to force air into her lungs.

It failed.

Liema's eyes closed. Her body went limp. And then she was dead.

But... In that last second, as she looked up at Orin in terror, she may have seen something... A flicker of... doubt. Confusion. Remorse?
As Liema's spirit emerged in the world of ghosts, she had a thought:

Maybe the best thing she could've done to stop Orin from killing was what she had - in fact - done in the end. She had been killed by him. And maybe he would feel... regret. And that would save lives. More lives than it would have if she had ever managed to blind him... he would've found a way to kill even without sight...

This... Maybe this was the best outcome.

Well... Not the best. Liema was still dead. But... One of the best outcomes that could've come about...

Definitely one of the best...

((End?))
