We all know that sometimes (or a lot) movies made from books cut out scenes or leave them and they aren't a good as the book. But sometimes they're actually better! Pick out your favorite scenes and tell which one was better in the book and which was better in the movie.

Here's my favorite book scene of all time:

Harry Potter 5: The Twin's Escape (MOVIE!)

While the book version was great in and of itself, what with Peeves listening to the Twins, I have to say I was surprised by this scene in the movie (which actually was pretty good! Unlike 4)

My reason? The score was awesome, Umbridge almost got blown up, and it had poetic justice (that that rule thingies!).

I didn't like The Princess Diaries book, so I basically thought the entire movie was better than the written work. I guess my favourite scene that was changed was the fact that Mia's indiscretion WAS put in the newspaper. razz I thought that the fact the author made up an excuse to not write about it being big news was because she actually didn't know how. to write it, which left me very unimpressed.

Better in the books? Well, that's everyhing in Eragon! But you want a specific scene from something? Hmm...My favourite scene in the ENTIRE Harry Potter series is Snape's Worst Memory when you see the Marauders, Lily, and Severus as teenagers and that scene was ridiculously short in the Order of the Phoenix movie. Remus, Lily, and Wormtail weren't even in it at all! scream

Even though it was very different, I really enjoyed the film version of Stephen King's IT. My favorite scene is when It threatens the group of kids through the photo album. It was a good scene in the book, but FANTASTIC in the movie.

On the other hand, I was a bit disappointed in the murder scene in the film version of The Outsiders. Don't get me wrong, I loved the film, but it seemed like there could have been a different angle to approach that particular scene with.

Eragon. Worst book based movie ever. I was so disapointed. I love eragon! But the freakin Wargals were people! I was soooo angry. Half the book wasn't in there! Harry Potter is the best book based movie of all time.

I have definately got to say that Lord of the Rings was a really awesome-possum adaptation of the book... The book was great, too... but it was really cool to see it in a movie version... The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe was pretty cool, too...

I agree with xxHaleyBaileyxx and Minerva the Bookwyrm about Eragon. I couldn't believe how poorly the movie related to the book. I will definately not watch Eldest if they make that into a movie. Harry Potter was ok, but I was disapointed by 4.
I don't really have a favorite book scene of all time that has been made into a movie. My favorite series is the Pendragon series, and they haven't been made into a movie.

I concur about both the above quote and Eragon. The movie just plain stunk. The same goes for Ella Enchanted.

The only case I really feel the book was actually better was Because of Winn Dixie. Mostly the movie can't convey everything the book does though, and sometimes the attempts are really sad (like in Eragon's and Ella Enchanted's cases).

My favorite scene in "Mists of Avalon" by Marion Zimmer Bradley was when they passed the Holy Grail around and for everyone it represented something different. Unfortunately, that entire scene was cut out of the mini-series movie event starring Julianna Marguelise.
