Having munched his way through what Sunburst’s human had immediately held out to him, Ceallach turned his head to his fellow palui. “You think so?” Well, it was worth a try; the dry fruit had been very good, good enough to make him want to work out a way to make his humans get him some of the stuff in the future. “I’ll give it a try then,” the gold-eyed creature decided with a nod before turning back to Sunburst’s human.
“Heeeey there human person,” he rose up on his hind legs and perked his fiery ears up hopefully, “that stuff was really nice can I have some more please? C’mon, look at how cute I am, you know you want to give me some!” Hopefully this would work; now that he actually thought about it, he was rather hungry, breakfast had been quite a while ago and his stomach was rather peeved about this fact.

Of course, all Bjorn heard was "Paruru" come out of Ceallach, but he gave him an impressed grin when the fire Palui did his thing. It was quite apparent he wanted more treats. The children was also entertained, and when some of them saw one of their classmates already drawing those Palui, they followed suit. That made Bjorn smile, too.
He reached into his bag to get more of those dried fruit treats, but instead of holding it out to Ceallach, he held out his empty hand instead.
"Shake hands?" Bjorn was curious if he knew that trick as well.
Sunburst just watched -- maybe she could learn something out of this.

Well this wasn’t on; the human had more fruit but was withholding it for some reason. Clearly the two-legged creature didn’t intend to eat the fruit, so it wanted something more of him and was holding out an empty hand. Ceallach rose up a little higher and reached for the empty hand with one fore-paw; that seemed as good a plan to get it’s attnetion as any.
“Hey, buddy,” Ceallach grinned, “when you’re done doing whatever you’re doing, how’s about some of that fruit? It’s really good you know, and I’d really like some more of it... Come on, what do you want of me? Backflips? I warn you, I usually fall over... but hey, you might think that’s cute; you humans are pretty weird on the whole.” He could smell that fruit and he wanted it. Hopefully what he’d already done would be sufficient to acquire it; it wasn’t sure what he’d do next if it wasn’t. He’d probably try to backflip actually, probably fail too.

Bjorn's smile broadened when Ceallach placed his paw upon his palm, and he took it gently and did a slow yet brief shake before releasing it.
"Good boy," he praised the fire Palui, and held out the hand with the treats.
He also noticed how intently Sunburst stared at Ceallach, as if she was in awe. Perhaps he'll start teaching her some tricks, too. For a former wild Palui, she actually wasn't too much of a handful, and was well behaved. She just didn't know any tricks at the moment, nor simple commands like Eukkie did. Bjorn also assumed that this male Palui was a pet -- it was obvious. However, he hasn't seen this one around yet... for some reason.
Anyway, he has only stayed here for a few months already, so it wasn't surprising. He gave Ceallach a nice scratch behind the ear and chuckled. "Well, it's nice to see Sunburst making more friends here."
"Hah, I knew he'd give you more of that stuff!" Sunburst said brightly. "I could really learn some stuff from ya."

Ceallach munched contentedly on the sweet fruit, giving the human a cheerful chirrup of thanks once he’d finished. “You’re a nice human,” he told Bjorn, “I like you.” After rubbing his head against the affectionate hand, he turned back to Sunburst with a grin. “In the way of getting humans to do stuff for you, apparently so. They just seem to like it when you pay lots of attention to them mostly, and when you talk to them even though they don’t understand. Some of them are mean of course and just ignore you or shoo you off, but most of them will at least give your a scratch, and as you see if you’re luck you get something to eat too.”
It was nice to be able to offer advice to somebody for once; it wasn’t something he’d ever been able to do before. He was a fairly young palui still and had never had kits of his own or even younger friends that he was more knowledgeable than. True there probably wasn’t much more that he could be of help with than human taming, Sunburst would know all about the tricks of survival he’d picked up during his own time as a wild palui, but that there was something that he could offer his new friend was good.

With her head tilted, Sunburst listened to every word that came out of Ceallach. Soon, she turned her gaze to the little humans, who either gazed back at her or worked on their drawings. Then, she thought about the kits back home, in the wild, and how they were bundles of rowdy energy. Maybe she just needed to be patient.. because young ones were generally rough and excitable. Sunburst peered up at her Master and mimicked Ceallach's previous trick, raising herself to her haunces.
"Can I have more treats?"
This made Bjorn all the more merrier, but instead of giving her the treats directly, he gave them to the kid next to him. This made Sunburst blinked.
"Hey..." Sunburst pouted and made her way over to the kid. "Isn't that supposed to be for me?"
The kid giggled and made a gesture with her hand, "Up!", holding the treat above the Palui.
"That's not fair," Sunburst added, then raised herself once more, snatching the treat from the girl's fingers. "Hah, got it!"
"Good girl!" the girl then chirped, and held out the rest of the treats, at Sunburst's level.
A little confused, Sunburst looked over to Ceallach, before leaning in to nibble at the extra treats from the girl's hand. "What was that all about?"

The spotted palui grinned and settled himself down more comfortably in the warm sand. “She thinks she’s training you, I think. My humans sometimes do things like that to me; hold a piece of fruit up in the air so I jump for it or put it up on their swing or whatever and then when I do what I have to to get the fruit, they give me more.” Chuckling, the fire-eared palui shook his head. “Humans are pretty weird things, but at least they have nice sheltered dens, lots of food and paws that are good at scratching.”
He actually rather liked their company too in general; thinking they were weird didn’t mean he thought they weren’t nice.
“I hope my human turns up soon,” he added as an afterthought, “he’s got some honey-covered nuts with him that I an probably get him to give to us. He and the horse can’t need much longer in the water. Hu. He’ll only wash both of them again later in the den to get the salt out anyway; crazy man.”
