What's the best way to get spots (like, rain spots, finger spots, etc.) off of a brass instrument, without leaving swirl marks? D: And what do you recommend for getting dirt out of the little "space" where the bell curls backwards? My finger's not really skinny enough to use just a cloth, but I don't want to scratch it. D:

For spots, use a very slightly damp (I mean like, you can barely tell there's water on it it's so slight) paper towel or soft rag, then dry it with your cleaning cloth or another soft dry rag. For the little 'space' you're talking about, a snake brush will work wonders. They don't usually scratch, and if it does, you probably won't notice it even with a close look. Actually, you'll want to run a snake brush through as much of the instrument as you can to remove gunk and whatnot every cmonth to couple of months, depending on how much you play. If you play a lot (a few hours daily), every month, or every two to three months if you play less (up to ten hours a week). It will make a difference in how your instrument sounds, as the sound won't have old gunky spit or grease or god knows what else messing up the sound. I cleaned my whole mellophone with one like that last year and it sounded noticably better afterwards. Plus, it was nice and clean. ^^
Hope that helps!

I would buy a care kit. It should come with: Coil Brush [For small tubes] Cleaning Cloth / Polish Cloth
I put my Trombone [Disassembled] in the bath tub, first I do the tuning slide, then I put the bell + slides in the bath tub.
The care kit should come with instructions too.

What instrument would this be? For my F Horn, I put it in the sink/bath tub, pull out the slides, pour warm water in it, put my fingers over the opening, and shake it. It;s actually amazing the disgusting crud that comes out. . .
Or, you can get a snake, a rupper tube with scrubby-things on the ends that you run throug your instrument.
