As someone who wishes to accurately portray Japanese culture, I make an effort to study as many facets of it as I can. One of the more intriguing ideas I've discovered are the social concepts of Tatamae and Honne(which respectively are your public and private personalities). Personally, I think this idea is something everyone incorporates at some level, but I'm curious, what do the rest of you think of having a private and public persona? Is such a thing needed to live a good life. Do you practice such a concept?
