Chiaki gave a tiny shrug and sighed softly, a trace of a smile on her face. "Oh well. I'll learn eventually. I'm not worried about it. I've got a whole lifetime to learn. It can wait." She gave a bit of a stretch, arching her back and spreading her wings to their full length before relaxing into a loose ball with a quiet chuckle. "I'll listen to what you can tell me though. I'm interested in every little bit so it doesn't matter if you don't have much to say."
The female blinked and angled her head at the male next to her when he echoed 'Alone'. She scooted a little closer to his form in the darkness and gingerly extended a wing over him, her soft black flight feathers brushing lightly over his back and wings, and shook her head. "You don't always have to be alone. Nowhere and no one is saying that you must live alone. I'm not afraid, nor should you be for whatever reason. Everyone deserves to live happy lives with those they care for. If someone is saying that you must live alone because 'that is the way of things' then I say ignore them. Do what you feel would make you happiest, Faeron." Her voice was above a whisper, but barely, and her tone was warm and soft, like the sunshine that warmed her fur and feathers.
She gave a soft sigh and pawed gently at his foreleg. "Understand?"

Faeron slowly let out a deep breath as the feeling of the female's wings crept over his back. Never had he been so close to another, never had he felt such... warmth. And the fact that the other being was not afraid of him, didn't even care about the distance between their similarities, made the shadow recede just a bit around is heart. For a moment, he forgot his anger, forgot his solitude, and was able to focus on something that he had always took for granted.
But the feeling couldn't last, not without his strange primal instincts rising up in his chest. This was why he had never been so close to someone; because for him, it just wasn't natural. Even if it was what he wanted, his mind and body wanted something else, and that something else might eventually end up hurting someone. Like Chiaki...
Faeron shook his head in self protest and silently, quickly stood from his spot, relinquishing the soothing feeling of the feathered wings sliding off of his fur. He scooted away from the female, pacing around the edge of the small spring.
"I do not do what I do because I'm following someone's rules. I've never followed anyone, and I never will. But being solitary is my own choice, at least at times like this." His blood red eyes narrowed, a troubled look entering them, as he turned to face Chiaki. "You see, I'm different. I inherit the instincts of my bat brothers, as well as their wings. Every so often, I undergo a terrible urge to... well, drink blood. Not the blood of other kylans, but the blood of prey. Of course, this repulses me for some reason, and I refuse to go and hunt out this prey just to drink their blood. The denying of my urge causes me to become intolerable and dangerous, for either days or weeks at a time. That is why my clan gives me space, and why I must live alone." His own words drove an icy arrow through his heart, and he grimaced at the grim reality of who he was.
"Forgive me, Chiaki."

Chiaki watched Faeron rise and move away from her. She folded her wings loosely on her back, blinking as she wondered what was the matter. She hoped it wasn't something she had said. After all, she was just trying to be kind and hopefully helpful to the male.
She listened intently, her face not betraying her, not that it mattered. The female waited until he finished speaking before she reacted and responded. Chiaki rose and padded cautiously towards Faeron and the small spring, mostly to avoid tripping or maybe stepping on something that she wouldn't want to. There was no fear in her heart towards the dark male, he intrigued and interested her. Once she found the edge of the spring, she sat down and drank some of its cool water before straightening up and turning towards Faeron to answer.
"To me, it doesn't matter that you're different. I've met those who eat meat and dine on the blood of their prey. It's just a part of life. If it's part of who you are." Chiaki gave a soft sigh and shook her head. "If you deny part of yourself, I can only imagine what would happen. Why do you deny your urges? Tell me this. Are you an omnivore or a straight meat eater? And you still don't have to live alone. I'm not afraid of intolerance or danger."
"You don't have to be sorry, but if its forgiveness you want then...I forgive you. It doesn't matter though. For those who care for you, it ought not to matter. It doesn't matter to me, Faeron. Does it to you?"

Faeron was silent for a moment, contemplating his true feelings towards her questions, then his expression softened and he turned towards her fully, his wings relaxed at his sides.
"I've never really thought about why my own habits bother me, but as I look at them now, I know that I deny myself so that I can feel normal. When I look at others, I see myself as some alien creature, a monster, I suppose. I've not had the chance to spend time with others of my kind and see that my habits are normal, for me. I do this so that I can... please others. I never know if it will bother my clan, so I simply don't do it."
A small smile, one full of honesty and serenity, lit his face. "But I think that you're right. If I keep denying my urges, then I will only make myself weaker, and hurt those around me. Perhaps I've had the wrong idea the whole time." He slowly stepped forward, and sensing her presence from her soft breaths, reached forward to brush his cheek against hers.
"I think that nothing matters now, as long as there is one being who does understand. And you have done me the honors, Chiaki. Thank you." He straightened up then, and raised his head to sniff the cool, still air. "Come, let's go back outside. The storm is not yet here, and I feel the need to be in the open air, instead of this stuffy cave."

Chiaki smiled and shooked her head, a tiny laugh escaping from her. "You're no monster, Faeron. No more than I. Live in a way that pleases you. You don't have to answer to anyone." Her smile warmed and brightened at his words, her wings hugging to her sides and she closed her eyes lightly. She was practically radiating happiness.
When he brushed his cheek against hers, her blue eyes widened briefly in surprise but closed again and nuzzled his jaw. Her fur fluffed up slightly and she could feel her face warm slightly, but it didn't matter to her at the moment.
"My pleasure, Faeron. It's always nice to have another to be able to speak with, no?" She tipped her head back and sniffed too. She could only smell the scents of the cavern, the spring, and Faeron's scent in the bedding and the air. Chiaki nodded. "Yes, let's. The pre-storm breeze will feel wonderful." She laughed softly and moved to his side. "Lead the way."

Faeron chuckled slightly at Chiaki's willingness to follow him, something that was sincere, and not from sense of duty or fear. Yes, it was nice to have someone to talk to, and not only that, but someone who listened. How had he not noticed before, how others always let him speak, but never truly heard him? Now that Chiaki had shown him her kindness it seemed that the whole world about him had changed. His heart had... warmed.
"Yes... follow me, Chiaki." And never turn away, his mind added, though his mouth just wouldn't speak it. He sighed and led the way out of the cave, his wings flexing at the anticipated flight.
He stood out under the large oak, raising his head to the wind, relishing the feeling of it flowing along his fur. He had always loved the night, for though he could see nothing else, he could see the night. All he ever saw was night, and when he knew it to be dark, he had a sense of actual sight. It was as close as he'd ever get.
That led him to another thought. What did she look like? No doubt she was beautiful, for the sound of her voice and her sweet words led him to believe so. She had to be... he shook his head to clear it of his thoughts. No, not now. Now was a time for him and the night. His domain, his kingdom.
And now he had someone to share it with.
"Come Chiaki!" he shouted, full-hearted joy filling his voice. He spread his wings wide, stretching the membrane-like skin, and leapt into the inviting arms of the dark.

Chiaki followed him closely out of the dark maze of roots and caverns. She blinked in the night, enjoying the feel of moving air and the scents of the surrounding forest. Giving a full body stretch, finishing with her wings, she shook herself with a content sigh.
The clouds had moved closer, but the stars still shown as bright points through the dark velvety clouds.
Although she hadn't slept, Chiaki felt alive, awake, and invigorated. Her shoulders didn't ache and she felt as though she could go on for hours. She looked over to him as Faeron took to the air. She laughed, took a few bounds forward, then took to the air.
"Always, Faeron!" Her black and white feathered wings stretched out from her slender, graceful form to bring her aloft to sail after the dark male. "Where shall our wings take us?" She asked with a soft laugh, curling through the air so her feathertips brushed lightly against him.

Faeron shivered at his new emotions, the onslaught of them feeling like a comforting, warm flood. This female... how had she done so much in so little a time? Only this evening had he been cold and mistrusting, weary of all the world around him. Now he felt alive, more than he ever had been. His body was buzzing with these new sensations, his wings were stronger and more eager for the sky ahead of him.
And then there was Chiaki... and a feeling that he wasn't sure if he could describe for her. How was he to know what he had never felt? But to be next to her was spectacular in it's own ways. For now, he could stand to be near her. And hopefully... forever.
"Wherever the wind leads them!" Faeron bellowed happily, giving in to a great gust of wind. He was exhilarated by the sudden feeling of rushing air, like a great storm, then he slowed down to float next to Chiaki. She was so near... he could smell her, hear her, feel her! His heart felt likely to burst if he was any closer to her, she was so perfect.

Chiaki laughed brightly. "Sounds wonderful to me," she chimed back to him. She felt awake, more so than she had been all day. She could practically hear her head hammering away in her chest. In all of her memory she could not recall ever having felt quite like this with any other Kylan. The dark male made her heart flutter like a young bird ready to take wing and she was good and ready to let it soar.
A smile played onto her face as she watched Faeron surge heaven-ward. Chiaki chuckled and with a few beats of her wings she rose higher in a spiraling coil, her form gracefully drifting on the wind, before breaking her ascent when Faeron slowed to drift back to her side. With a little angle of her wing she lifted over Faeron and as she passed over his back, careful to give his wings enough room, she nuzzled his jaw before dipping down to his other side. The mostly black and white female remained close to Faeron, occasionally her flight feathers brushing against his leathery wings in passing beats.

Faeron reveled in the closeness of this magical female. He could hear her perfect wings, could sense each feather as it bent and swirled in the wind. Her presence was warm and welcoming, like the sun on a new spring's morning after the winter thaw. Never before had he wanted to share something with anyone else, and yet now, there was nothing that he would not share with Chiaki.
His skin turned to fire as he felt her soft cheek nuzzle his; a soft sigh escaped from his maw, and for a moment his wings felt as if they had turned to water. But he soon caught himself, and pumped the corded muscles even faster, inviting a race from Chiaki. The hot sensation continued in all his limbs, fueled by her periodic touches and caresses. It also fueled his adrenaline, and he soared forward through the mist and starlight, the darkness and light. Though he could not see it, he knew that the female beside him was beautiful in the glowing luminescence. He could sense it, in her movements, in her voice, in her sweet breaths.
Then he felt a raindrop on his forehead, and he chuckled as a grumble of thunder met his ears. "We must go back, I fear!" he exclaimed playfully, turning a circle in the air. "The storm is nearing. Let us return to my dwelling."

Chiaki was enjoying herself immensely. She scarcely noticed that the heavy dark clouds had drifted closer and were darkening the heavens around Faeron and herself. The female was preoccupied with the aerial dance that the two of them were performing.
A quirked smile spread across her face at the invitation to race. Pulling her legs close to her body to minimize her wind resistance, Chiaki gave a few powerful beats of her monochrome wings to send herself flying along after the entrancing Faeron. The faintest breath of the cool, prestorm mist was refreshing and energizing as she sailed through it. She gave a laugh as she began to catch up.
The moment Faeron spoke a duo of raindrops land on her ear and muzzle. "So it seems," she responded with a chuckle. "I agree. Let's clear the air before lightning starts crossing the sky." Chiaki angled her wings to dip lower in an easy descent back to the ground. "We can wait it out in the safety of your den." The feather female smiled and stretched her wings as she drew closer to the ground, to ease into a landing. Once grounded she looked up to her dark companion. "Let us retire for the time being. I'll follow after you."

Faeron smiled as he sensed Chiaki behind him, knowing that she would always be close now. In only, what, a few hours? She had turned his icy heart into a warm, living, compassionate thing. She had done what no one else had done before this point: She had exposed that small kind part of him, the one that he had always kept hidden from others, with only her sweet voice and light, angelic words. Perhaps... perhaps she was an angel, his angel.
He led the way back to the oak, his superior sense of smell detecting the unique scent of his territory even through the rain. He descending slowly, using his unique ability to sense vibrations in the air to avoid the surrounding trees, then landed softly at the entrance to the small cave. He turned slightly, listening closely to make sure Chiaki was behind him. Hearing her graceful movements, he took a hold of the moss draped across the opening, and murmured, "After you, Chiaki. I'll light a fire once we're both inside."
He didn't even try to stop the look of content happiness that spread on his dark face.

Chiaki gave herself a shake before following closely along Faeron's side into the dark warmth of the cave, not for fear or anxiety, but to get rid of the few droplets of water that clung to her fur and feathers. She tread lightly, but knew that her dark companion knew exactly where she was in relation to him. A thought that made her smile.
His presence kept her close, but his masculine scent and movements urged her closer. "Oh, thank you, Faeron," she chimed to him when he held the moss back away from the opened to let her pass. The creamy white, black, and red female padded past, giving him a little brush of the fur along her side as she passed him into the chamber. Once walking in, she followed along the wall before moving to sit near the center of the room, her tail curling to wrap around her feet.
She had felt so at ease and overwhelmingly happy in quite some time. A vibrant smile had settled onto her features causing her bright blue eyes to shine.
