...B'Elanna comes home...

These were quiet days now.

Fumei missed her gallavanting around foreign lands, travelling the newest road, adventuring with her brother and best friends. Even in her early days of moving in, she had responsibilities left and right, charges here and there to care for. It's not that she didn't mind, but she rather liked the work.

Her previous home, if it could be called that, gave her much room to spread her wings. Everyday, her life was in some sort of danger, and everyday was to live like there was no tomorrow. ... Well, while everyday wasn't like that, she had more than enough drama for one girl. More than enough scars and heartbreaks and happiness and joy... ah, such was life itself.

The small statured girl sat on a wooden chair, feet on the edge of the desk in front of her, as if trying to tip herself and chair over on her back, but somehow, she knew the equilibrium point of where to stop rocking as to never tip over. With her glasses on, blue chinese silk on to protect her from the cooler drafts of the night, candle light decorating the walls, the environment gave her a feeling of quiet study, a student in the ancient ways.

"Achoo!"

And as the small teenaged girl sniffled, she blew the dust off the tome she was reading, blowing them in an intricate maze in the air, up and down, in an 'S' shape and around all the bookshelves of the study before the trail of dust danced in the air once more, and smoothly lined out the crack of the window. Nothing like an obedient dust trail to leave the room in fashion. And with that, Fumei adjusted her glasses, and began to read again.

Ah, the quiet life...

"What?! Silver's PREGNANT?" A screechy pre-teen's voice cut through the air.

"NO! He got his girl pregnant!" answered an attitude-filled woman.

"Since when did he come back from Dragonlamp?" A kind female voice asked, in a much softer voice.

"I dunno... but I'm glad he's back." replied an older woman's voice.

With those announcements shouted across the house, the entire house became a cage for stampede, yells, screams, and just very loud expressions of boisterous activity for a baby shower. There seemed to be a wave of emotion, up and down, and most of it hit Fumei's head with a bubble of thoughts and faces.

Silver needed to work on his lucidity more.

And with that, Fumei sighed, still trying to shake her head of emotions, and blew out a small breeze of fresh air out the window. The window opened to her command, letting in the moonlight. Almost gliding to the window, Fumei sat, half in the house, and out of the house at the window sill. She breathed in the news of Silver's 'pregnancy' before smiling. So another was to leave or join her family. It was always nice to have more company.

All she had to do was prepare another room. Well, create it, and then prepare the room. It was no problem. Just pull a few strings here and there...

While basking in the alabaster light, Fumei let herself reach out and tried to touch the stars. Everyone knew they were so far away, but... she missed her family. Her parents hadn't been around too long, and her brother had moved out before 18. It wasn't as if she loved everyone any less, but they weren't really her family just yet.

She had watched countless creatures grow up and leave, or stay and continue their life with her. It was amazing how many of them had stayed with her for what almost felt like years. She ached for the familiar process, of taking care of little children and watching them grow. It wasn't much of a glamourous life, but it was more than rewarding enough. There was more than one type of birth she had witness. Here in this world, she grew more used to her nurturing role. She longed to hear eggs hatching again, the cracking of its shell once more...

--CRACK--

Yes yes, just like that...!

And then Fumei whipped her head sideways, feeling her way out of the house and into the night. Where did that sound come from? She hadn't meant to focus so closely around the house. Her senses needed more fine tuning.

Note to self: don't try to scan outside the house with so much focus. It hurts the ears when the alarm goes off.

It had honestly sounded like an egg cracking. Automatically she was moving, as if strings were attached to her, a mere puppet to the wind. It was fine this way, and it made things all the more quicker. It didn't seem like such a terrible wind...

Fumei walked upon her favorite lake donated to the land. She could feel its energy here. Closing her eyes, she let herself pull the invisible strings in the air, tendrils of energy leading her to the lake...

As she stepped into the water and swam with eyes closed, she could feel a burst of light tickle her toes. It was strange to feel light, a sort of heat that was not heat, that breathed onto her skin much more subtely. Opening her eyes, she saw an egg floating in the lake, the light-lanterns suddenly turning on.

It was the soft light that shown the egg's color. Beautiful dark red with seemingly 'demon' wings taken from some myth place. Fumei blinked at the egg, wondering where the cracking sound had come. With no fear, and far more of a curiousity of a child, Fumei touched the egg gently, spinning it on its side.

"Oh... you have a crack on your head..." Fumei quickly examined the egg that emitted much life force to the touch. It was warm and pulsating, seemingly shivering in the water, and not knowing where to go or how to get there. Clouds swirled about the egg, not at all fearing the teenage girl as its mist enveloped her. Fumei giggled at the clouds and looked around the lake.

A tree branch. Broken tree branch. Egg cracked. Crack.

It didn't take much of a genius to figure that one out.

"Well now..." She examined the crack on the egg, making sure its lifeforce didn't fizzle out. "I suppose you'll come with me then. Your aura tells me you can understand me." Once more she scanned the lake, spotting a sparkle in the water. "Ah, a circlet. Yours?"

The red egg seemed to nod... or bob up and down in the water. "Here is your circlet then." Fumei said, grabbing the assumed egg's circlet. "I'll cover your small scar. I hope you don't mind."

The egg seemed to eminate happiness, despite it's hurt. With that, Fumei smiled, happy to have a new charge. Pushing the egg and keeping herself afloat, Fumei swam to the surface. The cold air didn't seem to bother her as her clothes dried in the air within minutes.

"Come. Let's go home." Fumei said, walking with her slippered feet.

Oh yes, strange teenager. Content and happy, and still wet, she happily trudged home in the mud. It would bring some much needed more spice in her life. Oh how she missed it.

B'Elanna nestled into her new cradle of arms.

Fumei sighed and pet the egg. She was always taking charges home. It would be fine. She would make it so. The egg seemed to be content in her arms. She had no real maternal feeling for the egg, but... she didn't feel like leaving things to chance. Besides, she liked the egg as well... as well as a person could like an egg.

And she had the feeling the egg was making its decisions already.

...Here in my diary...

09/24/08 - 9:48pm, Fumei's Public Log

Therein lies a book in the library, sitting as lonely and open as Fumei had left it when she went to pick up her egg. The pages turn as a breeze comes on cue, ink appearing on the pages as if they were written by a person who is not there.

The calligraphy that appears on the pages are not by an amateur, but they are not by an expert. Much practice and patience is needed to perfect such invisible strokes, yet there is something juvenile about the way the circles above the "i"s are bubbled and the way the calligraphy curves.

What is this strange log?

B'Elanna is her name.

How do I know? She told me. An egg talking to me. I've heard and done stranger things. However, I did not have to translate. It was all B'Elanna's doing. I can feel what she's trying to say.

Although, I lie a bit, it is because I am me that B'Elanna can communicate.

I can feel her language coursing through me. If it were another person, perhaps they would not feel the feelings I do that resonate from this egg. It's a beautiful dark red, with a classical circlet that reminds me of olden times, in medieval ages. Is B'Elanna that sort of girl? B'Elanna also has wings, 'demonic' type. Rather cute, I say. Despite the stereotypical wings, I feel no malice from this child that seems to sleep within her sheltering egg. I can only sense sleepiness and eagerness, and other than that, nothing.

But it is perhaps that I found her in a lake, just a bit ago.

With a new charge, I wonder how the others will feel. What kind of 'species' is she? How will we communicate? Will she be happy with us? What kind of things will she bring?

Yes, I can feel B'Elanna is a 'she.' I cheated a little and 'talked' to her in her own language.

Let's not forget, Gaia is not a place where magicks are limited.

For B'Elanna, I think... I will try to love who she will be. And hope she makes the right choices. It's always a challenge, no matter how nice and 'good' a child may be. And I can feel that happening with this dark red, purple clouded beauty.

And then, the invisible calligrapher stops, the ink blotting the stop of at the bottom of the page. The winds no longer blow, the ink no longer appears. The journal entry, it seems, is finished for the night.

-- [Welcome Home, B'Elanna!] --
...We are family?!...
In which B'Elanna is greeted by the people who live in Fumei's... dorm?

Feeling the lush, soft, pliancy of grass underneath her soft feet, Fumei paused as she walked towards her home. With the moonlight shining down on the forest, there was few little moonbeams to illuminate her face as her eyes shined with thoughtfulness and curiousity. Soft steps in the dark lead her to her unseen destination: her home.

The egg seemed normal enough. Despite the fact it was red, had demonic wings and a wispy cloud at its 'feet', it was perfectly normal to have an egg with a flair for elegance with a circlet on its head.

Other than that...

Fumei smiled. Well. She could have her assumptions later.

Already, the air tingled with a nervous aura that was not something unknown to the girl. She could feel it the moment she left the house: her charges had known she had left. Well, she had been gone a while.

She had left right after 9:30pm. Now it was....

With a snap of the girl's wrist, out came the cell phone, with girly accessory of a white lotus charm added to it. It was already... past 10pm. She had already recorded her thoughts in her head for the night, as well as for her next diary entry.

B'Elanna was B'Elanna. Who she was, who she is, well, time would tell.

Then she was there: the dark green door with black trim that was twice as tall as she was. It did not help her house was easy to get lost in. But ah well, she knew it's location. Even before she opened the door, she could see them lining up at the door... and she could feel the tingle of emotion that pierced through the nervous anticipation. From there, she could tell who was where and what to expect.

And there they were, all of them lined up on the stairs and in a crowd surrounding the entrance as she foreordained in her mind. At the forefront of the group was her Silver, a small porcelain that was humanoid but only about three to four feet in height. With his extra pale Porcelain skin, his dark green robes were a stark contrast to his dark eyes as a flitting sense of wonder surrounded the group. Fumei smiled apologetically. Another day, another charge. Silver had been her very first, and now, already, he was starting his own family. Would he also be the first to leave her?

Standing to the side, was a truly angelic creature in all sense of the word, the creature's wings always contracted in order not to hit anyone with them. She was gentle, always gentle, and always considerate of all those around her. Haa'fyana carried her miscellaneous 'pets' who randomly peeked at Fumei's new egg.

"Wowwww~ someone new!" A small girl piped up, clothed in black Chinese clothing that was drastically devoid of her... colorful personality. Here, and there the hyperactive girl would pop up behind, to the side, above and below Fumei, with her wings being all over the place, and somehow not hitting people in the face. Will'o touched the egg gently, and giggled. "Look, it vibrates."

"Be careful, Will'o." Temperance called out from the top of the stairs, the older woman collecting pets on her way down. Here, she commanded respect and silent obedience without force.

Raccoons and mermaids and other such creatures chatted amongst themselves, happy for Fumei's return.
"Well, we were quite worried about you dear. You should tell us when you leave the house."

"Yes, you know it isn't safe for a little girl to be running around in the dark."

A dinosaur nodded, licking Fumei's hand.

"Eggu."

Fumei remained silent, allowing her charges to talk amongst themselves and touch the egg. B'Elanna seemed open to any interpretation, and wasn't unhappy. Fumei could feel the egg tingled with excitement, but it felt drained of energy for the night. Here, B'Elanna felt wonder, contentment, excitement, anticipation, love, and some tensions that came with a diverse mix that felt similar to dorm room tenants. Fumei hoped B'Elanna would like her lodgings, for she would have to open to all sorts in this life.

And the life that would not be just unordinary, but also extraordinary.

Before talking, Fumei took a seat on the stairs, letting Haa'fyana close the door, lock it and let them all crowd around her. "Well, to answer everyone's unasked questions: I found her in a lake, it's a she, she communicates through some sort of touching link, I can feel what she feels when she buzzes or lets me as I touch her, and it's time to sleep so we'll answer questions later. The tome will tell you more. Now, to sleep!" She said, pointing in a random direction.

While any normal person would have just wondered at the speed of which those words flew out of the girl's mouth, they did not stay to ponder. They would get their time later. For they knew Fumei, and they knew things would be settled the next morning.

Lest they find out more without her themselves. For they were a troublesome bunch with an even more troublesome teenager for their landlord, and a house full of trouble was more or less obedient when they knew what to expect.

"To sleep!" Said the group, some enthusiastically, some rejectedly.

It was rather funny to see an entire group of animals and humanoids randomly walk to their bedrooms for the night, winged creatures and all. However, Fumei smiled. She was tired too.

But most important, was now the one in her arms, felt the same way. B'Elanna buzzed in Fumei's arms, and Fumei decided to make a new bed for the egg in her room. Just for the night.

"Good night, B'Elanna. Know that while not exactly a family welcome, we all want you here."

-- [Meeting Toulouse] --
...No expectations from each other...

Fumei sat at her seat in the great library, the velvet blue cushion seating greatly helping to comfort the pampered teenage girl. Here, the library was somewhat cold with it's mishmash of marble pillars, stone walls, and tall wooden bookshelves ranging from 15-20 feet tall. The strange, antique library seemed like a mix of different eras put together sloppily as if to copy some other vintage library in the past to mix with others. Still, Fumei felt at home here, and it was where she got her studying done (along with some others). She was a normal teenage girl in school after all.

And on the table, another red velvet cushion, sat the egg. Or rather, B'Elanna. The egg's clouds swirled about it in a slow, serene manner, the egg's wings flapping in and out, as if to practice flying.

As the sun poured in early in the morning, the teenager stretched her limbs, yawning as she tried to shake the slumber from her body. It was a habit she tried to develop, waking up early that is, so she could adjust to the new school schedule she was in. It sucked, but... well, she'd get used to it. She was sure of it.

It was now when she decided to write her entry about a previous night's events.

B'Elanna's Pre-Journal Entry
Today, I met someone who knew of B'Elanna's origins.

He was a strange boy. Around my age. B'El seemed to like him fair enough, but she seems to like, or act hyperactive around everyone. B'El didn't understand him though.

He was chasing someone. An imp, specifically, around the lake. I wish I could have helped him but... We talked just a little bit. More than just a burden seems to be on his shoulders. It's nice to know that there are still more than normal teenagers on Gaia. He was frantic to chasing down this imp...

Ah, I haven't mentioned his name yet. His name is Toulouse. Blonde hair, golden eyes, fair skin. Magical sword, and his aura... well...

A bit angsty he was, and it was hard to talk to him, as B'El and I were relaxing... Still, I know what that feels like. Finally, I made him laugh a bit. He admires humanity too. Not bad, for a non-human. He also answered a few bits of my questions.

He's nice... and didn't need to be traded any information from me. We just kind of relaxed and talked about a few things... and a few things were not said. It was nice to know that we knew our boundaries and were comfortable with them. Toulouse is a nice, adoreable guy too. Any girl who can tolerate him and polish him will have someone great indeed.

But of course, I have yet to know more about him. And from the way B'El's acting, I'll bet she'll want to continue their meeting as well.

He said he was a different type than B'Elanna. But we'll see...

So the crack on B'Elanna's shell isn't getting any smaller, in fact it's getting bigger, and you're starting to wonder if the little figure inside can actually see and hear things better now. Try playing some music or reading to the egg and see what reactions you get depending on what you use. If you're lucky there might even be a response you didn't expect . .

B'Elanna seemed more active than ever these days.

*BUMPBUMP*

Tired of the cushion crib Fumei had constructed for her, rolling had become her primary mode of transportation. The egg had flown here and there, if floating about for a few moments counted. In fact, it didn't seem like the egg could keep itself aflight as long as it had before. The egg was heavier.

"You're getting fat, B'El!" Fumei admonished, hands on her hips as her eyes followed the rolling back and forth of the dark, red jeweled egg. Of course, the movement of trying to not elbow someone in the room was someone hindered.

Silver thinks lil' B'El is cute. Probably plump too.

*BUMPBUMP*

B'Elanna continued her rolling, however her clouds swirled in a furious fashion.

Temperance laughed, her well-endowed chest seeming to have its own rhythm as she did so. "I see B'El is as much a girl as I am." The angelic woman sipped her morning, daily wine. "It's about time she stop shutting herself out."

"Perhaps she's shy. Or maybe she's actually trying to roll a way out of her egg." A sweet voice replied, the other angelic being, this time a teenager girl said. Haa'fyana flipped her hair as she sat on Fumei's bed, watching the egg roll from wall to wall. "Perhaps she needs some motivation music to whatever she's doing."

"Well, whatever it was, she sure it making a racket going from wall to wall." The Deus, Will'o said, folding his arms. Silver feels they should probably try to tell the egg a story of Humpty Dumpty. Little B'El should be more careful...

Fumei sighed. Still, she was glad that her other tenants were concerned for the egg. They had been here for quite a while, when the little egg had rolled her way onto walls. The egg had done the same thing over and over again, ramming itself into walls. It was natural for B'Elanna to want to hatch, but...

A giggle escaped the teeanger's lips. "Still, she doesn't want us to bother her. You know, the whole independent spirit thing. I don't know if that's such a good thing in this case." The girl noted, sitting on the carpet now. B'Elanna had grown less communicative over the time they had spent together. Fumei understood, and like all her other charges, she let them do whatever they wanted... within reason of course. No matter what Fumei, or the others said, B'Elanna would continue rolling on the carpet, the path flattened by the frequent use of the egg as it continued to crash into the wall.

*BUMPBUMP*

"I still say that B'El has a lot to learn from Humpty Dumpty." Silver concluded, his stern tone nullified by the worry in the air.

Fumei sighed. They had spent quite a while in the room now. A few hours in fact. Luckily, Haa'fyana had brought in food, and the camp continued to watch, and do nothing as the egg continued to crash. "Well, remember the last time we tried to stop her before she tried this routine? Her egg kept vibrating so hard it hurt to hold her. Man, my bones shook!" Fumei giggled. "Still, I don't like the fact that she's so stubborn."

Will'o puffed with impatience. "I still say we read her Humpty Dumpty, and drop her from the wall. Maybe that'll make her hatch faster, and it'll be way cheaper for the renovation team to revamp your room, Fumei." She flapped her wings. "If she wants to crack so bad, she should do it somewhere else where someone us don't hafta hear her."

"Will'o!"

The egg seemed oblivious to all the comments being thrown back and forth. In fact, the egg seemed to like the idea of being dropped, as its wings shot up and the egg stopped rolling.

"We should lull B'El to sleep or something. Tap her to the crib cushion." WenPyre said.

*BUMPBUMP*

"But she's hatching, we should observe this time to let her hatch the way... she's supposed to. Maybe she's Humpty Dumpty's kid or something and she's got like some super immunity egg shell so she can't get out!"

"Don't be silly. Here, let's just read Humpty Dumpty."Silver said, clearing his throat before reciting the nursery rhyme:

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall
All the kings horses and all the king's men
Couldn't put Humpty Dumpty Together again

"Hear that B'El? You're gonna hurt yourself." Will'o warned, her tone playful, mischievious and encouraging.

"At least her cracks are getting bigger." Temperance said, sipping her 5th cup of wine.

"Maybe we should just lull her to sleep. With some music." Silver suggested.

"I still say we pry her shell open." Will'o offered.

Fumei giggled as her charges fought amongst themselves. However, they had already tried capturing the egg, taping her to a crib. B'El hadn't slept whenever she was captive, as if she had something desperate to tell them. When the egg was left alone, here the rolling began. Fumei smirked. The egg just wouldn't cooperate no matter what they said. No matter what her siblings had said. Yet, they all couldn't help but stay in the room.

"By now, she should be tired. Let's tire her out with some music." Haa'fyana said, pushing the play button on Fumei's iPod.

*BUMPBUMP*

"What kind of music should we turn on?" Silver asked.

"Maybe she'll like classical music if we're putting her to sleep." Haa'fyana replied.

"Or maybe she'll like rap. Though I don't think any of us like it." Will'o responded.

"Yeah yeah, I think she's said she wanted to be a sort of dancer..." Fumei said, laughing as "Time's Scar" played."

Time's Scar

"Chrono Trigger's still the best." Silver nodded.

"Can I get a hell yeah?" Fumei smirked once more.

*......*

There was no more *BUMPBUMP* to be heard. The winged creatures, adult and non-adult alike were silent, eyes wide open to stare at the egg. The red shade did not change, and the clouds remained stagnant and still. The wings did not move...

.....

....

"Did we kill her?" Will'o asked. The teenager put a finger to her chin, not exactly worried. "By the way, this sounds like belly dancing music. The next song is Beyond the Wasteland... more belly dance music."

"Let's just wait. You know how B'El likes to work to her own music. And pace." Fumei shook her head with a smile. "And somehow I think she'll like belly dancing."

And so, they would wait. For B'Elanna.
