"Kitty...Kitty please..." He spoke calmly though his heart was shattering at her rising voice. "I dont usually take it as far as I did with you...Usually its a one night stand with a woman of stature giving me enough time to slip in and out with what I need...but you're not like that Kitty. You're not a cheep rich fleusy who can be persuaded like that! I realized that early on and kept thinking there must be another way to get that book without hurting you! But the more I got to know you, the harder and harder it became! Please...Please Kitty....I'm honestly trying to fix this...." He clasped his hands together, feeling a catch in his throat. "I didnt want you to get hurt, and I just wanted them to let it all go but its money to them. And thats it! Once I met you the money just flew out the door and my heart was wide open! Kitty-" He looked as if he were on the verge of tears himself.
"I'm so sorry-"

Kitty held back all her tears and any further words. She could hear it in his voice, or so she thought. Was that all just a ruse, too? And yet... and yet he was trying to fix all this. That much was true. That black eye was a testament to that. But she had to be sure. Kitty went towards him and licked her thumb. "Hold still," she said, in a voice that was flat but definitely an order. Kitty took her thumb and rubbed it a few times right on his black eye, just to make sure it was real. And when, to her dismay, she saw that it was quite real, she immediately pulled away.
His pain was genuine, and it reached into his eyes, even when she didn't want to look at them. "...come on," she said. "Let's... go take care of that." And just like that, Kitty turned away from him and began walking back to the shop whether or not he would follow.

Samson jerked away at first, though understood and despite the pain, let her see for herself. He said nothing though, just dumbfounded she was even letting him go with her. Trying not to make things any worse, he silently followed..
