-- I Am Who. --
Perfect Creation, Imperfect Memory

You find yourself in a junkyard, with no idea as to how in the world you got there. You thought you were searching for a journal, but it would take years to find a book in this world of junk.
Suddenly, you hear a tiny strain of music go by. You wonder how there could be music here when everything is broken? Curious, you decide to follow the music, stepping carefully over piles of greasy papers, matress springs, and rusty pipes sticking up everywhere like pretzels dusted with cinnamon.
As the music fades in a fuzzy garble, a splash of red suddenly catches your eye. You reach down and pull out a broken red radio.

User Image

You look it over carefully. The antenna is bent, the dial is chipped, the speaker is torn, and the battery compartment is empty with no sign of the cover. Still, you are CERTAIN that it was THIS radio that was making the music. You peer around, still holding the radio, and notice that in the spot where the radio was lying, there now lies a scrap of paper with numbers on it; numbers that look just like radio frequencies.
Why not try a few out?

Yay for post 1! XD

--84.2= About Me--

User Image
Name: Tima (Tee-ma)
Gender: Female
Orientation: What would you do with that information anyhow? surprised
Personality: Very quiet and observant, Tima always seems to view things as though she has never seen them before. She has next to no concept of fear or judgement, so it is quite easy to earn her trust. When she learns something new, one can almost hear the little gears in her head processing that information; she is a rather quick learner. She has no memory of who she really is or how she came to be here, but fragments of her past are slowly making their way to the surface. She is very mild-mannered; rarely raising her voice or displaying anger or sadness. She does feel them, she just doesn't show them as openly, though so far no situations have arisen for her to do so.
Likes: Sunshine, electrical objects, robots, jazz music.
Dislikes: Guns, being tricked, being told she isn't organic.
Theme Song: None yet.

Sunshine- One of her favorite things to do is stare up at the sun. The glare never seems to bother her; in fact, one would think she was drawing energy from it, the way she stares and the way her hair moves slightly when she does it, breeze or no breeze.

Robots- Be they toys or the most advanced machines there are, she always treats them nice and seems to see them as kindred spirits, though she doesn't remember why she thinks that way.

Jazz Music- When she first made her broken radio work, jazz was the first music she ever heard from it. Since then, she's always liked it, especially when someone sings alongside of it.

Writing- She isn't very good at it (hence the recording of her thoughts instead of the penning), but she likes to practice.

User Image

Guns- She has vague memories of guns and bullets flying around her, sending up sparks and clipping her hair. She thinks of them as noisy and a bad means for people to excert their violent nature.

Lasers- One of the few things that frighten her, perhaps because of their ability to slice through just about anything, and it takes an awful lot to seriously harm her.

Sunglasses- She remembers that the person from her past who had the gun wore sunglasses. Not only that, but it disturbs her a bit that people would want to hide their eyes from her; it makes her think the wearer is planning to trick her.

--83.4= Friends and.....Not-Friends?--

Elysia- It almost seems like Elysia had her eyes on Tima since she was little. She's always ready with a pounce for Tima when she comes around. Tima is quite fond of her, and always searches for her when she sees other namrah around.

Binx- After a discussion (and a short dance), Binx unwittingly helped Tima remember the first few fragments of her past that have surfaced since she came here. Though they disturbed her greatly, she doesn't blame Binx and thinks of him as a wonderful friend, even saying he reminded her of someone from her ever-elusive past.

Pierrot- She remembers her as the first namir she ever saw, and remembers her gentleness and concern.

--73.8= The Golden City--
Tima's Past

User Image

Tima's is a story about creation and destruction. About a perfect being and an imperfect purpose. About love and hate. About the birth and death of a giant. And how the entire world almost ended.

It started in a golden city. Not golden per se, but said to be the most magnificent city in the entire world. It was the world's leader in industry and scientific achievement. Half of the jobs in the city, including most of the menial and dangerous jobs, were handled by robots of all shapes and sizes. The crowning glory of this fair city was a huge X-shaped tower called the Ziggurat, and the city's name was Metropolis.
Now there was a man who lived inside the Ziggurat who went by the title of Duke Red. He was a powerful figure in the city, and also the behemoth tower's creator. He oversaw all of the tower's inner workings, and many people, though they marveled at the Ziggurat, were curious as to what purpose it served, besides being the tallest building in Metropolis; easily twice as tall as the second tallest building. He also controlled a rather thuggish group of young people called the Maldukes; they wore black arm bands and patrolled the city, shooting and destroying any robots they found outside of their designated work zone. Leading this group was a young man named Rock, an orphan that Duke Red had taken in during the last war. Rock was ruthless, and had an especial hatred towards robots, deeming them untrustworthy and inferior.
Everything started on a week that was to celebrate the Ziggurat's recent completion. Crowds of people filled every street, cheering and chanting, as fireworks went off overhead in explosions of colorful sparks. Among those in the crowd were special detective Shinsaku Ban and his young nephew Kenichi. They were not there for the celebration; they were tracking down a mad scientist named Dr. Laughton (Law-ton) for illegal experiments and trafficking of human parts.
What nobody knew was that Duke Red had made a deal with Dr. Laughton, and the mad doctor was currently hiding out in a secret lab beneath the city, working to create the perfect being; an android resembling the Duke's young daughter Tima, who had died when she was very young. He was nearly finished when Duke Red visited the lab, demanding that Laughton finish her soon. He had special plans for her; he was going to put her on a throne-shaped structure called the Throne of Power at the heart of the Ziggurat and have her control the entire city.
But Rock followed Duke Red down to the laboratory, and confronted Dr. Laughton, telling him that only his father was good enough to sit on the Throne of Power, and accusing him of creating a monstrosity to steal his father's heart. He shot the doctor and tried to shoot the android, but he could not pierce the metallic pod she was in, and settled for setting fire to the lab and running away.
With the help of a police robot, Shinsaku and Kenichi entered the city's underground just in time to see Laughton's lab burning. They split up and went inside to rescue anyone trapped inside. Shinksaku found Dr. Laughton, who as he lay dying had hurriedly put the finishing touches on Tima and released her from her pod. The detective tried to drag him out, but the doctor perished before he could be dragged to safety, staying alive only long enough to point out a notebook laying on the floor.
Meanwhile, Kenichi had gone around the back and was just in time to see a ghostly glowing figure resembling a young girl emerge from the burning structure and fall to her knees. She had no clothing on, so Kenichi removed his jacket and draped it over her before taking her by the hand and trying to lead her to safety. Before he could, a pipe fell down and smashed a grate they had been standing on, and both fell deep down into the lower zones of the city.
Kenichi woke up in a sewer, being tended to by a friendly waste-disposing robot, Tima standing unhurt a few feet away. They quickly formed a friendship, Kenichi teaching her to speak and wandering the level with their robot friend, trying to find a way back to the surface. Tima had no memory of who she was, and Kenichi didn't know she was a robot; he thought she was just a young girl who had lost her memory, and treated her as such. With no one telling her different, she came to believe it also.
In the meantime, Rock had revisited the burned-down lab, looking for proof that the android had burned. Finding only an open grate, he traveled down to the city's lower levels, where only robots worked. He found Kenichi and Tima, and began shooting at them, chasing them all the way to the upper level, which was one level below the city's surface. They eluded him for a time thanks to their robot friend, but when Rock caught up with them, the robot valiantly threw himself in harm's way for them and got its head shot off. After a long chase through the upper level involving a borrowed bicycle and adding several more Maldukes to the chase, Kenichi and Tima managed to lose them in a gigantic junkheap, where they were found by a young man named Atlas. Atlas was in charge of a group of people who were planning a revolution; they were going to storm the surface of the city and demand better conditions, since the people of the underlayers lived in crammed squalor, with no schools, jobs, and barely any food. Kenichi lied to Atlas and said his uncle was a newspaper reporter, so Atlas took him and Tima along (after giving Tima something better to wear besides a jacket) as they reached the surface and stormed the city, thinking that Kenichi would see the nobility and report it to his uncle.
But Duke Red's men and the military were waiting for them, and the revolution ended disasterously. Though Kenichi was reunited with his uncle, Rock also arrived on the scene and demanded that Kenichi hand over Tima to him. When Kenichi hesitated, Rock turned and shot Shinsaku. Kenichi leaped upon Rock in a rage, knocking the gun from Rock's hand. Tima went to pick it up when Kenichi was cruelly beaten by Rock, and aimed it at Rock, but could not bring herself to shoot. At that moment, Duke Red arrived and recognized Tima. When he learned that Rock had not only known about her but tried to kill her, he drove Rock away, tearing his Malduke armband off and declaring that he never wanted to see him again. He ordered medical care for Kenichi and his uncle, and took Tima with him to the Ziggurat.
The detective was soon on his feet, but discovered that his nephew was being held somewhere, and his attempt to find out where and why failed. He wandered back underground and was surprised to see Rock sneaking around. He decided to keep an eye on him, and it was a good thing he did, for Rock was plotting dire things for Tima.
Tima was living in luxury in the Ziggurat, but was sorely missing her friend Kenichi. Her maid then delivered a letter from Kenichi asking her to meet him before he left the city. Tima and her maid went to the appropriate place, but instead of Kenichi it was Rock leaning casually on the railing, staring at them through his sunglasses. He handed the maid some money and she begged him to return Tima soon before dashing off.
Confused, Tima asked Rock to take her to Kenichi. In response, Rock began to taunt her, saying how much like a human she looked. Tima, who thought she WAS a human, became more confused, insisting that she was not a robot at all. When Rock asked her who her father was if she was human, she replied that her father was Kenichi, and Rock doubled over with laughter. Tima decided to leave since Rock obviously wasn't going to take her to Kenichi, but sobering up, Rock grabbed her and jabbed her neck with an electronic device, literally turning her off. At about this time, Duke Red learned that Tima had been taken.
Rock took Tima to a small room and laid her out on a pool table, then proceeded to put together a small laser, intending to 'take a closer look at what his father was so excited about'. He aimed the laser right into her eye, but before it could come on, it became unplugged, and Rock was given a thorough beating in the darkness. The assailant was none other than detective Shinsaku, who took Tima to his hotel room and reactivated her using the blueprints in Dr. Laughton's notebook. He then asked for her help in locating Kenichi using a hacking device he had made from various electronics. She used it and in so doing generated enough electricity to black out the city for a few minutes, also confirming that Kenichi was being held inside the Ziggurat.
As Duke Red's men traced the source of the energy surge, Tima asked Shinsaku whether or not she was human or robot. He tried to tell her that she was different from other robots, but she refused to accept it and insisted that she was a human 'just like Kenichi.' Shinsaku then tried to sneak her out of the area, but they were found by Duke Red and his men. When he accused the detective of kidnapping Tima, Shinsaku replied hotly that Duke Red should keep a closer eye on the doings of his 'son'. With that, both Tima and Shinsaku are taken back to the Ziggurat.
Both are escorted by Duke Red and some of the Ziggurat's workers to the room where the Throne of Power sits. He told Tima of her grand destiny; to sit on the throne, control the Ziggurat, and eventually rule the entire world. As he tells her this, two Maldukes bring a heavily sedated Kenichi into the room. Tima asked Duke Red if she was really a robot, and he laughed and told her that she was no mere robot, not even a flawed human, but a super human. She asked how it could be possible; after all, she possessed love and emotions, and that according to him was human. He replied that she only THOUGHT she was feeling these things because she wasn't quite complete yet; her full potential would be achieved when she sat on the throne. Shinsaku, going off of the information in Laughton's notebook, chimed in and said that if she sat on the throne, she would merge with the Ziggurat and lose all of her memories.
Suddenly, Rock appeared inside the room and took one last fatal shot at Tima. At the same time, one of the Maldukes shot Rock. Both fall, but Tima got up unharmed, and Rock is carried aside. Tima felt the spot where the bullet had hit, feeling only a bit of peeled skin, and the reality sank in. Crying tears of oil, she declared that she was an artificial human, built to conquer the world and destroy it.
Before Duke Red could convince her otherwise, something deep inside her sparked, and she walked over to the throne and sat down. Suddenly, the entire tower came to life; everything began to run on its own. Throughout the city, robots began to rebel, and turn upon the humans, killing them mercilessly. All around the surprised group in the room, everything began to rearrange.
In a steely, emotionless voice, Tima told them that this was punishment for toying with robots. She informed them at that very moment, she was arming all of the nuclear weapons around the world and targeting all of the major cities and over 7000 other primary locations worldwide. She planned to use nuclear power to eradicate the human race, and it would all happen in about 30 hours.
Kenichi, by now wide awake, cried out in denial and called out to Tima, who didn't answer. He ran toward the throne and managed to grab on before it sunk into the floor. The rest of the group, save Rock and Shinsaku, had gone down to the main control room to try and override the system.
Tima, who was almost completely merged with the system, began to build a sophisticated cage around herself, letting wires and tubes leech themselves onto her. Kenichi, despite many painful jabs of electricity, managed to pull Tima off of the throne before the protective cage surrounded her completely. As they both got up, Kenichi saw that half of the skin had peeled off of Tima's face, showing the black metallic parts beneath. Wires and part of a motherboard still dangled from her back, and one of her eyes was now an eerie red and black orb. Kenichi approached her, but she reached out and effortlessly shoved him back, out of a door and onto a walkway of the Ziggurat, hundreds of feet off the ground.
Inside the Ziggurat, robots had reached the control room, and were throwing workers to their deaths. Duke Red was soon the last one alive, and he backed into a control panel as the robots closed in on him. Just as it seemed they must bury him, Rock appeared, shouting angrily that no stupid machines were going to take the life of his father. With shaky fingers and the last of his strength, he pressed a nearby button, and all time seemed to stand still. With an earsplitting explosion, the heart of the Ziggurat exploded, and the entire building began to collapse.
Up on the walkway, Tima was still mercilessly throwing Kenichi every which way, despite his attempts to get through to her. She grabbed him by the throat and was about to hurl him to his death, when her metallic heart seemed to short out, and she ended up falling, dragging Kenichi with her. Kenichi landed on a walkway, and looking around, he spotted Tima, dangling from one of the wires in her back, the motherboard caught between two beams. He rushed over and tried to pull her up as she looked up at him expressionlessly. He grabbed her hand and called out for her to grab his.
Suddenly, something deep inside of her seemed to spark; the first conversation they had had, where Kenichi had taught her how to say 'I am who?' Looking up at him, she said in her still-metallic voice, "Kenichi.....Who-who......am......I-I?" She then let go and fell hundreds of feet to her death, the Ziggurat collapsing all around her.
When dawn came, all that was left of the Ziggurat was a shell less than half its original size. The explosions had torn up much of the city and had rained down rubble the size of small buildings onto the underground, so that now the underlayer was exposed to the fresh air and sunshine. Birds flew about willy-nilly; it was almost as if the city was breathing properly for the first time. Even the robots had returned to their normal, docile selves, and were patiently cleaning up the city.
Kenichi was watching all of this, when he noticed one of the robots carrying the very wire Tima had hung from, with the motherboard still attached. He asked the robot where he had found it, when he was approached by another robot, who turned out to be the very friend that had helped him and Tima escape the city's sewers; he had been clumsily rebuilt and remembered him. It handed Kenichi a small part; Tima's synthetic heart. It pointed behind Kenichi, and he saw more robots approaching carrying things; metal bits, even Tima's battered shoes. Kenichi was moved to tears, and the robots all began to chant "Ti-ma!" and dance around. Kenichi smiled, and when he reunited with his uncle, he told him that he would like to stay in the city for a while.
He went on to open up a robot repair shop, and one day, a tow-headed robot resembling a young girl was seen in his shop window. It was a work of art, though it never seemed to move.
But move it must have, for now she is alive again, in a new form, in an entirely new world, her memories freshly lost from her encounter with the Ziggurat, and in time she may yet gain all of her memories back, but only time will tell.

--101.2= Arrival--

Kenichi: Who are you?
Tima: Who....are you?
Kenichi: No, listen. When you're talking about yourself, you say 'I'; that's how it works.
So, 'I am who?' Mmm...say 'I am-"
Tima: You are I.
Kenichi: No, no. 'You are I; I am you." Uhh.....huh?
Tima: I am who.
Kenichi: Right, right. I'm Kenichi; see how it works?

Tima: When I came here, I was confused. I didn't know how I came here; I still don't know. No one looked familiar, and I didn't recognize anything. The only thing familiar was the feeling of being lost.
There were others there with me, just appearing like.....like sparks. I remember two; both had strange clothes, but they were very nice. It felt strange to be treated nice by people I did not know, but it helped me feel less lost. I joined a small bunch of Namir that called themselves a family. There was Romsca, who was in charge. He was very kind and helped me to get to know the others in the group. There was also Drizzt, who was very shy. I think I helped him by being his friend; he doesn't seem as shy anymore.
So I lived with this family, and not once did I question where I came from, since the others said they came here the same way I did. I thought that if they didn't remember anything before, then there was nothing to remember. But there was something different about me. I had to be taught words when I came. I seemed to think a lot more to start with. And even though I was new I didn't feel shy or nervous. It was almost as if a big piece of myself had gotten lost. I would find it, but I don't know what it looks like.

--92.5= Elysia--

Radio song:
I recall sweet and enchanted days
Your smile chased the clouds away
All fragments of our memory survive
Shining in the moonless night

Tima: One word that should have been familiar to me and wasn't was the word 'friend'. I know I did have at least one, a long time ago, but I don't think we ever called each other that. It seemed to not need to be said; we both just knew. I feel bad not remembering him very well, and I do not wish to bury the memory of him, but it would be nice to have a friend again. And I think I have one now.
I saw her when she came to this world looking like a furry little stone. I was wondering how a stone could come to life when I was able to see it for myself. She became a kit, something I had seen before and wondered at. I have no memory of being so small; it seems as though I have always been this size. It makes me wonder why I am different. I know there are others who do not grow, but do they ever think about it as much as me?
I grew to like her, and she seemed to like me back. She was very active, always wanting to play and jump on things, and that didn't change when she grew more. Even now, when she is full grown, she still likes to pounce on me. Sometimes I wonder how I can take it; she has such a strong pounce. But it never seems to hurt me.
She and I have become friends, so much that when I go to where others are, I look for her, something I don't think I have ever done with anyone here. I look forward to seeing her, and I let her play with my hair as I scratch her behind her ears. I can use the word friend with her; she makes me think of happy times where nothing bad can last. That has to be what a friend is.

--77.3= Dancing With Memory--

Tima: What just happened to me?
Shinsaku: I see.....so you don't have any idea who you are.

Tima: I met a namir named Binx not too long ago. He was very polite. I always seem to find nice ones, which is good. He had bells on his neck, and beautiful eyes. Just looking at him caused strange images and emotions to come into being, ones that I don't remember ever seeing or feeling before. He told me about his family, how his father's nose glowed, and as I asked him if his father was a robot, I remembered I liked robots. I had my radio with me, and when I showed it to him, I remembered the music I used to coax from it long ago. His eyes reminded me of the boy who was my friend. Other memories came to me; something about a seat that was cold and hard, and feeling so angry.....like I could burn the whole world.
Then he taught me how to dance. I had never danced before, and it was fun. Moving to music was lots of fun. But then he said that he was better at running then dancing, and I remembered running.....I was running a lot once before. I remembered running in the dark, with sounds all around me, like machines. I was being pulled along by my friend; I remember the panic in his face as he looked behind us. I remembered another boy with dark glasses that shot at us with a gun. We didn't know why he chased us, but he didn't give up. I can't remember how we got away, because that was all I remembered. Binx seemed sad that he had made so many bad memories happen, but he told me that he thought I was too nice for someone to come after me, and if someone did, he would be there to help me. I like him, how nice he is. I wish there were more like him. I just hope that I don't remember enough to make me angry like that ever again.
