Here is some information I picked up else where in Gaia about Evolving Items .... I hope this helps (oh and please share if you have some info!)
- An evolution item does not need to be equipped to evolve. They're actually on some sort of secret (but PREDETERMINED) timeschedule. They evolve when gaia announces they've evolved.
- In cases of 2nd generation items (and beyond), it appears that they mirror the time schedule of earlier generations. (Example: If Pora Ice gen. 1 took one week and two days to reach it's second e.stage, then Pora Ice gen 2. will take one week and two days FROM THE DAY IT WAS RELEASED IN THE CASH SHOP [or the day Pora gen 1 evolved].)
- Currently, Evolving Items can only be purchased from one store- La Victoire, also known as The Gaia Cash Shop. They can then be purchased with gold from users on the marketplace.
- Evolving items come in "generations". Whenever the item in question reaches a new stage of evolution, a new evolution is released in the store. Thus, the number of generations in existance directly corresponds to the number of evolutionary stages released for that item. (Example: Fausto has 5 stages of evolution and 5 generations available)
- (Until the item evolves completely) 1st generation e.items will have the most current stage of evolution, while 2nd generation e.items have the second most current stage of evolution.
- When an item reaches its final stage and becomes completely evolved, all stages and poses become "unlocked" -- meaning that the user will be able to use the item in ALL of its previous poses. Until then, an item cannot de-evolve or evolve past it's current stage. If the user desires to equip a previous stage, he/she must wait until the item completely evolves.
- Gaia has announced that these e.items will be rotated out of the Cash Shop from time to time. We're not sure what this means, or when items will be pulled, but it's very likely that when they dissapear from La Victoire, their prices in the MP will skyrocket. Although Gaia has said that any item pulled from the cash shop could be reintroduced, there is no guarantee that this will happen, nor have they specified which items will be returning.

A good place to get an idea, if not the spot-on date, for when the items will evolve is to go to Tektek.org's Gaia items page and find the Evolving Items page. From there, you can see all currently released e.items and when they are expected to evolve and/or if they have finished.
However, this is only true when the item has not evolved recently. If it has, the next date has not been determined yet and you will have to wait to see it. You can also preview the evolutions of an item for which you have a later generation. For example, if you have a 4th gen. Pantheracorax Agate, you can click on its button on that page and see what lies ahead with it.

I think there was one item in CS that took a day extra or less to evolve. But I might have read that wrong. So don’t take my word for it. o.O
