Rises With The Moon

PostPosted: Sat Aug 09, 2008 12:51 pm

I was randomly thinking about this just now.
King Bumi is at least 112, like Aang. And he doesn't look like he's gonna kick the bucket anytime soon.
So I was wondering if it was just Benders that had a long life, or everyone in the Avatar world.
I don't know if anything official was ever said on the matter. D;
And sorry if this has been discussed before. >.<

I don't know if it's JUST limited to benders...probably not, I mean, why would the spirits give the benders more mortality than the ones who aren't benders? Unless they hate them...but xD

Isn't Master Pian Dao supposed to be up in his years?

Well, yeah, but all the old people minus bumi aren't that old. Remember, Iroh is just an older brother to Ozai.

I think Bumi's the oldest really.
Or at least the only one we know of that his age has been (loosely) stated.

yea...I think Bumi was just raised well...he must've ate his wheaties everyday...maybe the earthbenders are the "oldest" ones because you gotta stay so healty to bend? Because you litterly have to LIFT rock, and, with few exceptions, most of the earthbenders are really muscular (sp?) And Iroh stated, "Fire bending is not in the phsyical strenth, in the breath" or something like that, in one of the first few eppis. Airbenders don't really spend time to be "healthy" physically imo...and I think the earthbenders would be the strongest germ-wise, too, because the earth nation...doesn't look clean sometimes. Maybe they're used to germs more than other benders? I mean, airbenders stayed pretty clean. XP Firebenders would just "burn" the germs. lol, and waterbenders, germs couldn't live where they lived...

Haha, interesting theory.
But germs can exist anywhere, so I doubt it's a physical thing. Most, if not all benders are going to be fit. Bending is a form of martial arts after all.

That is a falsity. Germs cannot live in extreme colds or extreme heats. As in, germs do not exist in the arctic because they cannot survive.

But where ever there are people, there are germs, right?
I mean, it can't be THAT cold in the Water Tribes or else they wouldn't be able to survive.
I wanna say it's like... Alaska climate. Not so much Ant/arctic.

Well, we don't really know what the average life span is for people in that world. I think that Avatars are gifted with extra long life [coughKyoshicough], so I do believe that benders live longer.
Bending is pretty much working out if you think about it. People who take care of themselves live longer then those who don't, which explains why better benders are more likely to live longer.

And actually, Iroh WAS old. It is strongly implied that he was several years older the his brother. And I personally thought Iroh's son looked like he was only a few years younger the Ozai when he died.

...Also, Wiki lists Iroh as being in his 60's. It's not always right, but I thought it was a good guess

D: Where does Wiki get this info? Crazy.

I think it would be a good question to ask Mike and Bryan at a con or something.
It's going to bother me now until I know for sure. XD

personally i think they would because they can manipulate an element and help themselves from being attacked and I think that they would be more in-tune with nature and stuff yea...
