Thanks Chalda... *hugs* crying That means a lot to me. I do remember your fiancee having the hiatal hernia. Were they able to help him with medicine? In any case, that's cool if they don't have to do surgery to fix things. It's a pretty creepy procedure when you really think about what they do to you. xd
I have kind of an update, I started seeing a new nutritionist who is going to help me change my diet. I need some testing, but he believes the reason I'm so sick and can't lose weight is I have a problem with my large intestine. He called the disorder "leaky gut syndrome" - instead of the intestines working to get rid of all the toxins in the body, in leaky gut syndrome I guess the toxins go back INTO the body instead of being flushed out. That would make sense I guess. He says I'm going to get much worse before I get better, though. neutral I have to stop all but 2 of my medications and go on an anti-inflammatory medication that should help my digestion. I have to cut out everything with corn, wheat (basically anything with gluten), red meat, peanuts, and a ton of other stuff I don't remember... not that I eat it anyways, but it sucks that I won't be able to eat some Doritos when I want to now. wink
The icing on the cake is... I saw this chiropractor and my xrays showed I have spina bifida. With the size it is he said I'm lucky that I can walk. I'm a bit pissed that my parents never told me I had it. eek

There's nothing wrong with being a big girl. cool At least if you were stuck on an island you'd be the last to survive. heart
Anyway, I think I have a way that might help you. See, the hardest thing about keeping up with exercising and eating is that you actually have to keep doing it. Everyday or every other day and it just sucks to do so. I have a thread in here "My Two Weeks Notice to Life Issues" if you want to read that. There's some advice that might be able to help you.
From what I know now it's all about carbs and calories really just kind of suck and really aren't as important as they're made out to be. Carbs = fat and carbs are energy. The more energy that's in food, the more weight you gain. Gaining weight, technically, isn't really a bad thing because you're just building up more energy. What's bad about that is that you're getting to much energy that causes problems.
So, it's really as simple as, all you have to do is consume less energy. Which means you just have to eat foods that have a lower amount of energy that last longer. If I remember correctly (if you compare) let's say you have a chocolate bar for dinner. That chocolate is really high in carbs (energy) as opposed to eating a sandwich which will have less carbs in it.
However, that really does leave out a lot of options for you because you can't have low carb foods like vegetables and fruit and such. I would talk to your doctor and start getting really specific on what you can and can't eat as far as fruits and vegetables go because there might be some things out there. Other than that, things that are high in carbs would be breads, cereal, and such. So, I think your best bet would be to go on a six meal eating change (notice how I didn't say diet). Make a Long and Easy transition between it though so you'll stick with it. Maybe make yourself a sandwich and eat a fourth of it every three hours or something.
I don't really know what kinds of foods are good for you really that are fruits and veggies. I would definitely recommend laying off sugar, salt, and things like that because it's murder with losing weight. That's probably one of the hardest things is learning to say no to certain foods.
As far as exercising. The thing with exercising is that you have to keep up with it and it's so much harder to maintain than eating because it's a physical strain. You should start off small though and make sure you can really do that and then keep going up and up and up with it. So, you said you can go out and give your dog a walk. Maybe when you're doing well with that you should increase it to two walks. Then, maybe you can run a little too.
Whatever you do, just make sure you do it slowly and you can handle it so you don't give up. Losing weight is a battle, so no pain no gain.
My opinion.

After over a week, I have an update to my little issue...
I lost 5 pounds!! I know, I can't believe it either... it's not much, and I know that some people's weight fluctuates by that much a day... but it's been steady now the last few days.
However, the downside is my energy is fluctuating like crazy. While the anti-inflammatory medication I went on last week is working like a charm, completely switching my diet has not been easy. I'm glad I can keep eating all my rice and everything, but taking out basically everything else and starting on fruits and vegetables has NOT been easy. I do have increasingly longer periods though where I feel better than I can remember feeling in 10 years... it will be interesting to see what staying on this diet / medicine does for me. It would be awesome to feel that way all the time. heart
