Jess sighed, thinking a bit before replying. "No...Not really. He seems familiar but I just can never place where I've seen him before..." She furrowed her brow, placing a few books on the shelf. "Why?"

"Because he says he knows you." And there was his real worry brought to light. "He says that what he knows of you, you are a wonderful person or something. But you don't know him, so how does he know you?" He made an exasperated noise, as his time was running short. "Listen, if it wasn't for that and how he reacted once he caught on to my suspicion, I would have said nice guy, Kitty's just lucky, whatever. But now? The way they were talking was so... dramatic. He's playing her, Jess. But I don't know why."

Jess paused, cocking an eyebrow. "Huh..." was all she could say to that at first. "Odd....I knew I wasnt crazy...I jsut got an uneasy feeling about him...Or then again it could just be our imagination...he could've meant that i seemed like a wonderful person from what he's seen of me the three or so times we've met..." She shrugged with a sigh, glancing down at her watch, already accustomed to Alex's break times, knowing when she could call him. "But I'll keep an eye on him...looks like you have to go soon...I'm sorry, I'll stop by tonght and bring you dinner ok?" She smiled, feeling bad he sometimes overlooked eating on his breaks if she called or vise versa.

"I just want to see you," he said, but saw the time as well and cursed. "But I'll call you when I'm out, alright? Bye." And like he did when he had last spoken to her, he made a little kissing noise into the speaker, though he desperately hoped no one had seen him do that. He'd hear about it for the rest of the day.
Jess did have a point, though. Maybe he just meant from what he had seen... but he spoke with too much familiarity. Or maybe he was just being paranoid and protective. Jess meant a lot to him, and he'd be damned if he let some strange rich boy hint at something.

Jess couldn't help but giggle as she bit her lip and said her goodbyes. "Dont forget now.." She joked sternly as she hung up, shaking her head with a sigh and a smile. It was surreal how happy and utterly giddy she felt after speaking with him. He always seemed to just lift up her heart and make her feel light as air with a simple hello.
It was somehting she wasn't used to, but it was a bit too soon to tell what it all meant...

-------------
It was closing time, and Jess had just arrived, feeling slightly uneasy about leaving Kitty alone. She knocked on the window of the cafe, to get Alex to let her in. She liked it when he had to close up sometimes. They would sometimes sit and snack on the leftover goodies, and just talk...it was always nice especially when she missed him like she did...

Alex was sweeping when he heard her knock. He was so ready to have to turn someone away, but there was Jess' face looking at him through the glass. When he let her in, the first thing he did was hug her. Being on the street at night always worried him endlessly. "Hey... we have some cinnamon buns that didn't sell. Want some of those?" He kissed her forehead and led her to an empty table that was hidden from the view of the shop window so no one would see and think they were still open. Alex was becoming good at perfecting the guise, all along having his girlfriend there to make him smile. "And we can talk about this creep who's got your friend."

Jess smiled widely, nodding as she leaned up to peck his cheek. "The cinnamon buns sound delicious and I've actually been thinking about that..." She chuckled, taking a seat down at the table he brought them to. "He just seems....so familiar..." She furrowed her brow as she set down her bag.

Alex sat down across from her after fetching two of the day-old buns. He had butter packets and knives as well so they could make the most out of them. "Okay, so, maybe you were right about him thinking you're great after meeting you a few times. But he caught on real quick that I was watching him, and he hurried Kitty away once he felt it. And their whole conversation was filled with... well," he said, taking her hands in his to show what he meant. "And leaning in, and whispering, and Kitty looking real worried. I dunno, Jess. It's not right."

Jess furrowed her brow, staring down at the way he held her hands. "..." She was silent for a moment, racking her brain for why that felt so wrong...when it hit her. "Oh God..."
Her eyes were wide as she pulled her hands away from his grasp. "N-no...it cant be...." She pulled out her communicator and went through the files saved on it, pulling up a photo album dated a year ago. "...." She swallowed hard, eyes stern and lips persed. She shot a look to Alex, turning the screen his way. It was a picture of Jess and her friends out partying as usual. All looking rather inebriated except one fellow, who was getting 'comfortable' with Jess. She zoomed in on his face. He was a red head, wore the style of clothes for clubbing, and seemed artsy and funny...though his face....
"...It can't be him right?" She asked desperately, looking up at alex with a terrified expression.

Alex took the communicator in his hand and grimaced. He had just seen his face that afternoon. With different hair, yes, but, "It's him." And that set the loathing in his heart burning. "Did he hurt you, Jess? What'd he do, how'd he know you?" And how were they going to get Kitty out of this situation?

(im too lazy to look up the name I had earlier for him..>.>)
"He was william at the time..." Jess looked away distantly, angry really at the memory. "He was just some guy I met out when I was with my friends...He said he was a travling artist and said I inspired him..." She smiled ever so slightly before staring down at the table. "We...got pretty friendly all through the night...He took me out to his car to show me some of his work...they were beautiful pieces...he said he wanted to draw me..." She seemed a little embarassed and didnt really want to talk about it but went on. "...So...I brought him back home...the folks wereout of town so we had the appartment to ourselves....we had a few glasses of wine...got a little more friendly..." Her face was red as she hated to go on. "We talked mostly as he sketched...fooled arounda little but mostly talked...he asked about my life and I guess I Was so drunk I spilt whatever he wanted to know...including my father's business...." She furrowed her brow.
"All I know is one minute I'm wrapped in his arms, the next I'm waking up alone, the picture he drew of me torn out and laid on the pillow. I was crushed to be sure but that kind of thing always happens...he had at least been sweet enough to leave me something..." But her gaze turned venemous. Until I heard angry shouting from my father. I Was a bit hung over so I couldnt really process what was going on but apparantly his safe had been broken into and something important was missing...Something that apparantly cost him a lot of money...." She rubbed the bridge of her nose tiredly. "I felt so...used and cheap...but I had asked for it just trusting him like that..." She shook her head. "I never saw him again...."

Alex was so angry at her story that he nearly destroyed his cinnamon bun. To think, he had bee two feet away from the b*****d just hours ago, and he did know Jess in a more than friendly fashion... "I'm gonna paint his eyes black," he seethed. Not to mention break a rib. "But where's Kitty now? Is she out with him?" Even if he wanted to ruin his face, they were there for Kitty, not something that had happened awhile ago. There was still time to prevent a disaster, or so he thought.

Jess wasn't sure how to react to that, though made a mental note to bring it up later... "Um...He was on the phone with her when I left... I caught a cab down here and saw her fly out the store and practically sprint through the city...I have no clue where she went..." She furrowed her brow, still a bit distant after remembering all this stuff.
"...I'm sorry Alex..." She looked up at him solemnly, her eyes full of guilt and regret at her stupidity back then.
(edit)
"This isn't good....Kitty's alone with him now..." She furowed her brow and frantically dialed her friend. Though it made no sense to her. Why would this Nathan character target her? She had no connections to much of anything terribly valuable...what was his angle?
