Needless to say, she kept him close.
Not to say that Cindy thought Aesop would do the normal child thing and just jump into the water without remembering to breathe. But that didn't mean she wasn't allowed to worry. She held his hand tightly as they walked along the lakeside.
It was a quiet, cloudy day. The sun was nowhere to be spotted. They said there had been a slight chance of drizzle, but that was long past. The scent of approaching rain was nowhere to be found.
Most people come to the lake on sunny days. Which was why she found today to be perfect. There may have been a few people, but they were on the other side of the lake enjoying their fishing.
Aesop's eyes were permanently glued to the large body of water. It was so beautiful. So mysterious. So... Was that a group of ducks?
Sure enough, quacking sounds could be heard just off the shore. "Oh look. Mallards!" Cindy gave a soft shout.
Today, the strange girl had chosen a black and white outfit. No hat, but earrings that looked like they were made out of animal fangs. And a necklace to go with it. Odd muffin didn't even begin to describe her. "Lets go ahead and sit down here, Aesop. It's nice and quiet."

There they were again. Exact same place, not the exact time since shyer rarely wore a watch, but it might be close. Secretly she hoped nothing would come of their revisiting the place, but the sudden return to the spot had indeed put Aelia a little on edge. “So you came from around there, care to show me how you got there exactly?” Shyer coaxed her young ward, who sat in the shade of a tree about five metres away. It was silly really, but after deciding to try and find out a little more on her little responsibility wrapped in wings Shyer thought it likely that Aelia’s appearance might help explain what might further happen in future. Things from the past effecting the present and all that. Besides, they had nothing else to do today.
What was decided to be a decent distance away Aelia sat, usual glamour wrapped around her form making her appear all innocence of a young blonde child in a fairy costume. Her nostalgia had not returned like Shyer’s had and being in the spot where she’d first met with her guardian was not ‘putting her on edge’ as shyer had pointed out but it made her think more than usual and consider what she’d done in putting herself in Shyer’s way. Was it bad? Was it good? Was it fate? She sighed, slinking down into the grass and starring up at the tree’s leaves which rustled in the wind above her.
“C’mon you must know something right? Show me something! I want…I want…” Shyer sighed, no longer sure what she wanted. No wait, that was a lie, she could do with a good book, hell even and old book. She could sit and lose herself in the fictions which had somehow become reality. Real fiction, romance and va-no, not even vampires. Okay fine something dated from 1830, there she even had a time period now! Instead of course all she had was a big book o’ fairy myths and legends which she’d borrowed from the library’s kid section. She’d been through it once and some of it she’d liked, other bits she hadn’t, it didn’t help that Aelia had been very vague about what she thought passed as fact and what was obviously fiction. “You know, you could be of help a little.” She said determinedly, trying to keep herself looking for...whatever they were looking for.

Under Cindy's arm was a nice, big blanket that she promptly laid out on a nice patch of grass. It was a white blanket with pink butterflies etched into the stitching. Made by her Great Grandmother. Sure, it wasn't the best color scheme or anything. But this was her picnic blanket. And it served it's purpose well.
"It's been awhile since I've done something like this." Cindy mused as she straightened out the blanket and plopped down. "We used to do it all the time on our big 'ol plot of land in the countryside."
Aesop sat down next to her on the blanket and let out a sigh. "Who was we?"
"Me and my Grandma."
Aesop tilted his head. Grandma? Grandparents were the parents of the person's parents, right? He noticed the bittersweet shine in her eyes. That could only mean that said person was no longer of this world.
"She would've been so happy to meet you, Aesop." Cindy said before he had a chance to respond, giving him a pat on the head as she looked out towards the lake.
Aesop didn't say anything. A smile and a nod was enough of a response to those words. As the two grew quiet, Aesop's attention began to wander as it did in strange places. To the lake, to the sky... And finally..
His eyebrow raised as he saw the blonde girl with fairy wings. There was... Something very off about her. He couldn't place a finger on it, exactly. Just... It felt like his eyes were deceiving him.
When Cindy noticed the boy was staring, she followed his eyes over to the girl. "You.. Know her or something, Aesop?" Stupid question since she knew everyone he knew. But she was curious to why he was looking. Maybe it was those fairy wings she had. "Cute." She muttered to herself.

Aelia ignored the further pestering of Shyer, taking the chance to fall back and feel the blades of grass along her shoulders and in between her toes. She didn't know much about the earth itself, an odd thing she dreamed considering she was meant to be somewhat a faerie, an obscene little part of her should know a little, feel a little something, though she couldn't place what. The only thing she ever had was the odd sensation whenever she was near one of those others, another ashe, and even that had begun to grow weak as of late, she knew not how to interpret this. Her eyes closed against the sun, willing something in her to simply start being whatever it was meant to be and make her more whatever she was meant to be like. Even the place where she had first been seen by mortal eyes did little to give rise to a new memory, or possibly old in some cases.
"Back here..." Aelia opened her eyes slightly, gazing at the world from underneath long lashes. Shyer motioned at a patch she had decieved herself into being possibly slightly greener than the rest. She looked over her shoulder to see Aelia lying still on her back and Aelia perceived an inward sigh.
"Guess we'll think of something else huh?" Shyer muttered, once more underestimating how well Aelia could hear. Shyer did that alot, though her young charge didn't mind. Shyer had to get used to an Ashe, the Ashe had to get used to a human. She watched Shyer sit down, her expression clearly defeated state. The gaurdian fell into silence, perhaps her thoughts had fallen to a train of thought she'd been refusing to go down for the meantime, but could see no reason why not to strole down it in the safety of the shady trees. Aelia did not pretend to know these things or be interested in them, she knew little of Shyer and while Shyer seemed eager to be honest and open the Ashe could not draw out the comfort she knew the girl deserved.
All at once Aelia became aware of the obvious feeling of being watched, she turned her head to find her eyes locked with that of another young child, his hair and skin pale as if he had not seen the sun in a very very long time. Then she noticed the pointed ears, she smiled a little to herself, reminded of Tall and pointed eared Julien. An Ashe. Aelia nodded at the strange boy before letting her own glamour fall away for a few seconds, relaxing as it went back into place moments later. 'let him come to me if he wants to meet another ashe, shyer is more than enough company at present. she thought.
