well, if you play a trumpet, could you play piano sheet music if it is writen in the same key as what trumpet you play? because I was able to find a anime song in a piano sheet music, it's in tremble cliff so I can read it.I'm just wondering will it sound the same as a piano would play it just at a loader, trumpet tone?
I want to play Houki Boshi , the 4th ending song to bleach. I did find a copy of the piano music. I never really understoud what playing on the same key as a something ment. if it's the same type of music a trumpet can play, could they be able to play it and still sound like the song?

If you're going to use a Bb trumpet to play piano music, then you need to transpose it a tone up for it to sound right.

You can play any music for any instrument as long as you dont have an accompaniment I have the sheet music to a mario theme for saxophone and I didn't transpose it and it sounds just as good until another saxophone plays it with me
so anywho as long as you're playing alone it'll sound just fine

if you wish to transpose, to go from the trumpet (Bflat asuming) to piano or in your case piano to trumpet, to get the same pitch you play a bflat on the piano and a c on the trumpet, so, if you just take everythign from the piano down a whole step. there you go. but it may be easier to jsut have someone transpose it for you lol

Piano to Trumpet is a lot easier than Trumpet to Horn. Kick up all the notes on the piano music up a step and you'll be good. Trumpet to Horn I have to change the notes by a wierd amount, like 3½ steps up or 2½ down. Whatever going from F to C below/above is.
Edit: For the pieces I transpose I have to. Usually it's a Trumpet part I get then have to work with so the entire sound is pretty nice and not thrown off horribly.

You don't necessarily have to transpose a sheet music to have it sound right. However, if you want to play at the same note, then you have to transpose. Although there may be times when it is better to transpose, otherwise you get a double flat or double sharp, such as a Abb (G) or F## (G).

a C instrument will be able to play piano music and it will sound exactly the same, these include: oboe, flute, tuba, trombone, baritone bc, (and C trumpet, i think that exists, but not often) if you want it to sound the same on a B-flat trumpet (which most are) play every note down one step ie: C becomes B-flat, A become G, etc....etc....also down a minor third (if you're a theory freak, like me)
