Arvis_Jaggamar l -Xera- l The Dark -The Gray Legend- HistoryWak Everyone needs to stop complaining and get the ******** over it. (My teacher gave us a take-home test and let us out half the class early thus why I'm here) I refuse to be a butthurt fan. Old Snake Says...You're not bothered in the least that the Wii MotionPlus isn't going to be implemented by third parties for some time? To be honest that isn't Nintendo's priority or fault. If the third parties wanted to use the Motion Plus, they've would of actually approach or even asked. Nintendo is not going to spoon feed every single third party on the planet. Not to be too belligerent, Xera, but that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. How the hell are third parties going to approach Nintendo about a technology they don't know about? @Wak: How are games NOT important to a console? Sure, Nintendo's 1st parties are still great, but if that's all they have to offer, then eventually real gamers are going to need to purchase a PS3 or 360 in order to have a satisfying experience with this particular generation of gaming. My roommate won't be purchasing ANY games for the rest of this year because Nintendo won't be releasing anything worth playing. I agree with Arvis. Proof of this: know how many Wii games I purchased this year? One. And it was one of the biggest wastes of $50 ever. Last year? Two. And three Virtual Console games. I would sell my Wii if it wasn't for Virtual Console. Wait, I didn't even buy anything off VC this year either. Nintendo is making a terrible move. By cutting off support for hardcore gamers, the hardcores are going to get bored with the Wii and migrate over to the Xbox 360 and PS3 (aka: the real consoles).

Sakyh HistoryWak Gimmicks sell consoles. Look at last Gen. Gamecube had no gimmicks whatsoever and the others did. See the difference in sales? Gimmicks sell consoles more than you think. Every console this gen. has one. It's as if no one wants a console that just plays games anymore. @Sakyh: Yes, I swear some people complain more than actually play games. lol See I kinda disagree with that. I bought my ps2, not becuase it also played DVDs and CDs, but because it had games that I wanted. I didn't buy a gamecube because I fewlt most of the games either sucked or just weren't my cup of tea. There were like...2 or 3 games I would've been willing to play, but I never felt really compelled to ever buy one. It's not neccessarily gimmicks that sell consols, albeit they're ncie to have because then you can save some space. If you're a gamer, an actual gamer, you will buy the consol that has the games you want to play. Yeah, I'm totally with Sakyh on this one, and I think at least 80% of people who bought a console last-gen would agree. Gimmicks never sold a console until the Wii. I bought a PS1 for Final Fantasy Tactics, not because I could play CDs on it (through my crappy mono tv, yeah). I got a PS2 for Final Fantasy X. I got a Gamecube for Smash Bros. I got a PSP for Final Fantasy Tactics (again), a PS3 for White Knight Chronicles (someday, someday), and am borrowing a 360 for Mass Effect. The non-gaming aspects of these consoles are not nearly enough reason to purchase one. And you'd be hard-pressed to argue that the PS2 sold 130 million because it plays DVDs.

There are people who bought it just for that (referring to the last sentence). I know people personally that have. I had a teacher do so as well. I'm not saying everyone did obviously but there are people out of all the consoles sold that have whether you want to believe that or not. Also, don't forget Sony is notorious for re-releasing consoles by redesigning them as well. If that isn't a gimmick in itself..(OMFG111 BUY THIS CONSOLE AGAIN SINCEITS SLIMMER111) Just because you and the few of us here didn't (you fall into the category of those who buy a console for one game only so you're almost as bad as those who buy a console for a gimmick.) don't mean there aren't people in existence that do and as much as you don't want to believe it there are people out there who do that. It happens more than you think. Gimmicks can be big or small and come in all kinds. BC in a sense is a gimmick if used as a selling tool which is had been in the past and present. XBL is a gimmick in a sense since it's used as a selling point. The Wiimote is a gimmick in a sense and so is Blu-Ray (advertised as the cheapest Blu-Ray player) Wasn't PS2 advertised as the cheapest DVD player at the time it came out? The only difference between now and then is the DVD was a more established at that time than Blu-Ray is now. DVD didn't have market dominance over VHS yet at that time but it was getting close. Of course us "true" gamers buy them for the game s (At least we're supposed to.) Check these out: PS2 DVD versus the competition. Article from Oct. 2000You believe what you want and I'll believe what I want. 3nodding

Article from Oct. 2000You believe what you want and I'll believe what I want. 3nodding I tried to read the article, but I lost interest midway through I think the second paragraph. Leave him alone. Seriously, it makes sense to buy a consol for one game. (LET ME CONTINUE THIS THOUGHT) For instance, there's plenty of gamez I'd like to play on the 360. But not ONE of them is the pivital game that will make me get up and spend the money on that crappy hardware (still grumpy about RRoD). there's a difference between an actual gamer buying a consol for one game, than a non-gamer doing the same thing. An actual gamer will buy more games; they're a gamer, that's what they do. A non gamer will buy the thing for ther one game, and just use the consol for whatever gimmick it has. I.E. a non gamer buying the PS3 for MGS4 & blue ray movies. Why do they want the PS3? Cheap Blu-Ray. And maybe a game or two on an occasion. Don't compare anyone here with someone who buys a consol for a gimmic and then say "you're almost as bad as them" because that's not fair and not right. I bought my GBA sp for KH:CoM, but guess what? I also bought other games because I'm a gamer. KH:CoM was the pivital game that made me buy it. And the games he listed were the same for him. That's a massive difference from a guy buying the PS2 cause it can play dvds. [/rant]
