He frowned at the other Kitsusagi's chuckles, but said nothing. He didn't need to say anything. His stare was probably enough, especially after having known Phoenix for so long.
He muttered, "'A bit' may be an understatement, Wright." Edgeworth then went silent, shifting a little uncomfortably at the conversation. Malicious people, huh? There were...actually quite a few people that he could think of, but one stood out the most. "Well," He cleared his throat awkwardly, "At least they aren't around here."
By 'around here', it was obvious that he was referring to being Kitsusagi. Even as he said this though, he was a teeny bit doubtful. After all, more and more familiar faces seemed to be popping up lately - what was to say that others wouldn't appear with time?
Deciding that the thought would be too disturbing or frightening, he decided to keep it to himself. Phoenix had already probably thought of that possibility, however.
Pushing these thoughts aside for now, he rose a brow as Phoenix hesitated, and then left to get the drink. When he came back with the sake, Edgeworth gave a little nod of his head in thanks. When was the last time he had had a drink? Not since he was a human...and that was long ago. He had gotten used to being a Kitsusagi, but there were some things he missed about being a human. Like having fingers and thumbs.
"...Yes. It has been a little over a year, hasn't it?" Edgeworth sipped his own glass, considering his old friend's words. "I think I disappeared from the world that we knew while in the middle of a particularly tough case." He paused to take another sip.
"...I wonder if they've solved it yet." That was Edgeworth for you. Work was still important to him.

"Okay, yeah... well, maybe not a little. Maybe a lot." He chuckled. "But at least she doesn't mean any harm..." Phoenix had been thinking about the possibility of others showing up that he didn't like, or was afraid of. He had mostly kept such issues to himself, but telling Edgeworth about it was something he felt safe with because he was sure that the other male would understand. He gave the other a fairly weak grin and shook his head, happy for the subject change.
"I don't remember what I was doing when I.. uh, dissapeared." Phoenix glanced at the cracks in the roof as he thought hard. "I think I was at my desk. Doing a crossword puzzle."
He blinked at Edgeworth's comment and shook his head in mild disbelief. "I would think they solved it by now." He grinned slightly. "Though without you and your expertise and elite knowledge, they might still be working on it, even after all this time." He took another sip from his glass. This one was much larger than the others and he soon found himself pouring him another glass. The Kitsusagi seemed to be debating something over in his mind and was silent for another few moments as he tried to gather up the courage.
"He's just sitting there..." He thought to himself. "You should say something, damn it!"
"Edgeworth, I... I have something to say. There's a reason why I asked you to come out here." He began speaking, sounding somewhat unsure of himself. Now he was tense and pulling at his hair spikes with a paw, messing a few of them up. "I... ah... I-It gets pretty boring here without some kind of justice system, or without anyone to help." He shook his head, frowning at himself. "We should... do something about it. Together. You and me? Um... as a group. I'd... I don't know. I'd kind of like to work with you for once, instead of against you. I can't think of what we'd do or how we'd go about it..."
"Damn it..."
"But Edgeworth... ah, w-what would you say? Would you like to do something? Together?" He shook his head quickly. "I-I mean... well, work wise. Yeah..." He was visibly tense now, and looked rather troubled.
"I... I have another question for you..."
