Resana nodded "Thanks Yero!" she turned and looked at Nessa "That's cool! I dunno what happened to my brothers and sisters" she giggled, remembering what Nessa had asked before "OH.. and grandparents are um.. the mommies and daddies of your mom and dad" her tail wagged rapidly, glad that she knew something and could share it with Nessa.

Looking around the land she asked "So what's around here? Any big rocks, or places to watch the flying things?" Resana wanted a place to find the wind, but unfortunately, she could not remember the word 'bird'. Silly creatures they were anyway. Her old pack had lived on a mountainside, and she had spent many days on rocky cliffsides, watching the forest below and the eagles above.

Nessa's eyes grew wide at Resana's explanation. She turned quickly to her father. "You have a Mommy and a Daddy?"

Yero gave a thin smile that hinted at a jaded past. He nodded. "Resana's right. Everyone has parents. I did as well." She glanced off into the distance for a moment. "You'll meet your aunt Selia one day." He smiled to his daughter. Nessa tilted her head, puzzled, but interested.

"Daddy can we go play?" She asked, bouncing to her feet beside her friend after she'd asked her stream of questions. Nessa wanted to show her everything!

"Of course. Stay near the river, you two. And don't venture out towards the north bank. The currents there are too strong."

Nessa pranced off a couple steps, turning in a circle to see if Resana might follow. "The flying things!" Her tail wagged behind her in excitement. "Lets go find some! And some.. fr-fr..." She strained to remember the word. "Frogs!"

Resana, after a moment of watching Yero, scampered after Nessa. Padding alongside her, she asked "Nes, what's a 'Nnnorth bank?'" it sure sounded weird.. maybe it was where the water fell off the edge of something.

Closer to the river, she suddenly stopped dead, her ears flickering. "Nessa wait!" she whispered loudly "Wait.. listen.." she heard it again. A croaking sound. What was that? "You hear it?" she asked "It's ... oh! It's gotta be a frog!" she lifted her muzzle to sniff it out, her tail wagging.

Nessa gave her friend a grin, ducking into a playbow and wagging her tail. "It's part of the river, silly!" She yipped, glad that she could show the gentle brown pup a thing or two as well. "But I've never been there." The blue pup admitted sheepishly.

"Oh!" Nessa remarked softly, her ears perking up at the sound when Resana stilled her to silence. "I've heard that sound before, I think!" She wuffed with enthusiasm. Following her friend's example, Nessa dropped her nose low to the ground, searching for an unfamiliar scent.

The two puppies would have to find the frog by sense of hearing and smell alone. Nessa's muscles tensed with excitement. She didn't know it, but this was her first hunting lesson.

Resana sniffed at the ground, her back end in the air, tail wagging. Now this, she could do. Again, the sound. Resana turned towards it, the sound of trickling water getting louder with each creeping step. She slowed, then suddenly lifted her head. "Nessa!" she whispered loudly "C'mere! Listen! Ya hear it?" Twice. There was more than one frog in this area. Oh, this could get interesting.. she turned her muzzle towards the other sound and sniffed a bit. Hmm.. Now, how to get two frogs?

Nessa's pale green eyes widened as Resana spoke. "Really?" After perking up her ears and listening as she other advised, she paused a moment, one ear folding back in hesitation. "Should we each try to follow a sound?" She asked, with a tentative wag of her tail. The familiar ribit! sounds she had grown accustomed to living by the river now seemed to echo through her ears in a chorus. The two would have to untangle the web of noise, and track down the frogs together. Nessa couldn't help but grin. This would be a challenge, a game, and wouldn't it be fun!

((*Falls over* I keep getting rp block with this rp >_<' Idunno why.. it's just this one too sweatdrop *sighs and tries to push something out*))

Nessa nodded "Let's try that!" she put her nose close to the ground and sniffed for frog tracks. Not smelling any, or not proficient enough to catch a scent, she raided her maw again, her ears flickering and tried instead to focus on the sound of only one frog. Not easy. The two frogs must be close together or it would have been easier.

She looked back to Nessa, a bit frustrated now, and confused by the sounds "Hmmm.... I know.. They're up there, we can trap em in! I'll go that way.." she motioned to the side opposite of where Nessa was "..and you go that way, and we'll go around them and meet in the middle!" That sounded good. Maybe she had something of a strategist in her, eh? Well.. maybe.

(( Oh no! XD Maybe this one's been dragging on too long? Ya wanna finish this one and start a new one somewhere else by the river? ))

Nessa gave an affirmative nod, Resana's strategy sounded like a good idea. Maybe the two pups could herd the amphibians into a corner. The cobalt pup lowered her body to the ground, creeping silently around the bushes, her ears perked, listening for the sounds, which were their only clue to where the frogs were. She paced around in a semicircle, coming around behind where she figured the noises were coming from. When she had gotten to the other side of the frogs, Nessa gave a high pitched bark, trying to spook them out to her friend.

For one of the frogs at least, the gambit seemed to work. With a resounding plop, the animal launched itself straight out into Resana's grasp, landing right under the dark brown pup's nose. Nessa gave a yip of excitement, smacking the ground with her paws enthusiastically.

(( Oh, that's fine. I know whatcha mean. You were just hoping to have her go in one direction, and now that option's closed off so you feel a little blue. That's happened to me with characters before and it made me sad too. But I got over it and I love the characters that they've become, even if it wasn't what I'd originally planned. I expect it will be the same for Resana. You might think about if you'd like to have her try for a position of alpha or beta instead. She can still have a special connection with nature without being a shaman. biggrin heart ))

Half yelping in shock and surprise, Resana half lifted up, landing with one paw on the frogs' back leg. She giggled as it squirmed and tried to hop away "Aha! We did it Nessa! Whoooo!" her tail flew back and forth. They'd definitely done it. Watching the wriggling, slimy frog under her, she tilted her head "Uh.. Ness? Now what?" she giggled again, the little frog tickled her, his leg was inbetween her toes.

"Hmm... he doesn't look happy.." she lowered a bit and sniffed at the frog, nudging it with her nose when the squirming finally stopped for a moment. Her touch initiated another series of wriggles and attempted hops on the part of the frog, but to no avail. Resana lifted a little and looked over at Nessa "Any luck with the other one?" she couldn't hear the other frog anymore, but.. it didn't really matter now, did it?

(( Welcome back, Raikha! *pounce* 4laugh ))

The dark blue pup scampered out of the bushes, crashing through a small bit of foliage and landing in a sprawled stance beside her friend. "HarooOoo!" The little wolf gave a broken, puppy howl of instinctual excitement. Working as a team, the two had brought down their prey. The frog might have been little, but it was a substantial achievement in Nessa's mind.

Nessa laughed as the frog squirmed clumsily in Resana's careful grasp, legs flailing here and there. Readjusting her position, she watched it keenly with olive eyes, absolutely fascinated with the strange creature. She lowered her head a little to see it more clearly, tongue lolling slightly as her tail wagged in a quick beat.

"He sure doesn't.." She agreed with a light smile, tilting her head at the creature as her tail slowed to a more gentle wag. "He's so little.." She said thoughtfully, lifting up a paw to heckle the frog's slimy skin gently.

She giggled at Resana's last comment. "Nope! I lost him!" She wuffed sheepishly. In her excitement she had completely forgotten about her assigned frog.

((Thanks! Oh- ignore the color change.. all new for teh journal ^_^))

Resana giggled "No matter, we have this little guy!" she nudged the frog with her nose. "What should we do with him?" she asked. Tilting her head, she lifted her free paw and touched the frog, a bit perplexed now. Well, they caught it, but now what? Resana certainly didn't want to eat the slimy goober, but.. should they just let it go? Nightfall was approaching, what would they do once the sun went down?

Nessa rocked back on her small inky haunches, pondering. She certainly didn't want to eat the creature, though it certainly was an interesting little thing. With it's slimy skin and buggy eyes, it was so bizarre it was almost cute. The puppy hesitated. Part of her wanted to let it go, but part of her hung onto it as a successful catch, and would feel strange to let it off so easily. She wasn't sure what to say.

"Why don't we... let it go, and then follow it!" She wuffed impulsively. It didn't occur to her that it was, perhaps, not the best idea.

Resana grinned "Sounds good to me!" She lifted her paw and stepped back a couple times, watching the little frog. And off it went! The frog leaped away and the sounds of it faded quickly, masked by other forest sounds. Watching in the direction the frog had hopped off to, Resana tilted her head "I .. I guess it was not meant to be.. hop with the wind, little froggy!" she called after it. Turning to Nessa, she blinked, then yawned. "Uhhm.. so now what?" she asked.
