I'm not getting my bottom braces on for about 4 months. But when I went to band the day after I got my tops on, I didn't think I would be able to get a single note out of my clarinet. I did. It really wasn't difficult. But...
You have to keep your rubber bands in while you play? Uh-oh....

when i got my braces on it was one week before i took a trombone exam!
i mean, that would be easier than playing, i don't know, trumpet or any type of sax because the embouchure is easier to fit into a trombone mouthpiece. but it still hurt!
i only got a B+ when i did my exam - and i'd been practising so hard!
braces suck. i feel everyone's pain...
but i'm getting mine off in a few weeks! hoorah!

Braces will mess your playing up for a little bit but after a small bit you get back to normal. One of my friends is a alto sax, and he had gotten braces and they messed with his playing but he got back into it. He made first band 2nd chair at all-region last year and is the best sax i know. After some playing you'll be back to normal. mrgreen
