Cypress moaned softly . . . this bed was just sooooo comfortable! The scent of various flowers filled her nostrils and she smiled in her sleep. It took a few moments for her to realize that, if she really thought about it, she was actually half awake.
Reluctantly, she cracked her eyes open, then sat bolt upright. Where in the world was she! She didn't recognize anything around her but, somehow, it felt . . . right, like it should be familiar. It was like she had fallen asleep and woken up in a dream world, one she sort of knew but, at the same time, was very confusing. Relaxing a bit, she looked around her room.
On the nightstand by her bed was a delicate looking vase with a few fresh flowers in it - Cypress smiled in spite of herself. Also, there was a piece of parchment.
Cypress' School Schedule
Science - Professor Abrid
It read, with numerous other classes underneath. Cypress looked at it thoughtfully, then carefully folded it; she had a feeling she'd better hold on to it for safe keeping. She got out of bed, stretching with a soft sigh. She looked at herself in the small mirror on the wall; well, she couldn't go to her first day of classes in a nightgown, now could she! She went over to the closet and pulled out her outfit, fingering the lace with a smile. It was absolutely beautiful. She got dressed quickly and slipped on her soft leather boots; oh, they were so comfortable!
Dressed, she looked about for a place where school supplies might have been stashed. At the foot of her bed was a heavy-looking trunk, rather ornately decorated. She opened the heavy lid with an oomph and looked at the contents. There was a science kit with many easily breakable items, a satchel to carry her books and things, a few notebooks, an ink well with pouches of ink to mix, and a few long, feathered quills. Cypress stared at the quills for a moment, puzzled, as she didn't recognize the bird they had been taken from. Shaking her head as it didn't really matter, she packed up the notebooks and quills and ink into the satchel. She stared thoughtfully at the science kit. After all, she was going to science class . . . she bit her lower lip softly, not sure what to do. She had no idea how to transport it safely so, without another thought, she closed the lid to the trunk and hoped she wouldn't need it.
She lifted the satchel up onto her shoulder and it settled comfortably into place. She glanced at her reflection in the mirror - man, her hair was a mess! She checked the drawer of the nightstand and, sure enough, there was a hairbrush. She carefully put her hair up, letting the shorter strands in front hang free of her pony tail. She brushed her hair until it shone and was finally satisfied with her appearance. She picked her schedule up from the nightstand and put that in the satchel as well and, with a deep, steadying breath, left her dorm room for the first time, happily anxious to get to class.

You know, I sure do get lonely from time to time. I'm tutoring with Professor Lelaus to hopefully become a Monster Trainer; I really would like an Ipes and Ronwe, as they get along well together. Ronwen can learn our language (though I have a few reservations about that) and Ipepsi love to learn magic! I'll have to be careful which spells I teach it. I came across a copy of the Trainer's Test in the Library, so I'm going to jot it down here so that I know the bare minimums that I'll need to know. I'll fill it in as I learn certain things and then, when I'm done, maybe I can apply for my Training Certificate! That would be so wonderful! Training Exam Name: Cypress Type of Monster: Ipes Practise Sessions: Links to the Three logged sessions interacting with the monster of choice under supervision of Lelaus, Sable or another Registered Monster Trainer. Field Experience: Link to the minimum of One Quest completed pertaining to your Monster of Choice. Sufficient Supplies: If applying to own one of the Monsters of your choice, link to inventory showing you own the sufficient supplies to care for your monster and a Certed Technoring to bind it to. Quiz: Answer the Following in your own words: What is the Natural Habitat of your monster? What does your Monster eat, how much and how often does it feed? Cranberries, acorns, marigolds, bird's eggs - especially Robin's eggs - dandelions, salal berries, termites, aphids and dew water. They need to drink dew water daily, which can be collected from the Flora Gardens or personal plants, or bought pre-bottled from Gregor. What are some common likes of your Monster? Ipes love anything to dew with flower-collected dew water, but particularly bathing in it. They enjoy Planeswalking, chasing dust motes or spores, sewing, birdsong, and Ronwen. What are some common dislikes to be avoided?Which Lures and Traps can be used to collect or capture your type of Monster? How does one train your type of Monster as a Familiar? What sorts of precautions will you need to take to ensure that the presence of your Monster in the City remains safe? What sort of Illnesses is your Monster susceptible to, and how can they be treated? What sort of Abilities does your type of Monster possess? Planeswalking - can move through matter Do you intend in personally keeping one of said Monster? If so, what will you name it? Yes! I'd name it Anali heart

Professor Abrid's Science Class - Notes
Castor Shells are shot from Castor guns. There are 93 Castor Shells in total. Castor Guns can be used in duels, but there are only specific Shells that are allowed to be used in duels. However, shells that are too dangerous for use in duels can be used against monsters and outsiders, providing you are strong enough to use them.
There are different levels of Castor Shells and you can only use Shells that are equivalent to your Stage.* Castor Shells are basically magical spells that are contained in a Shell to be released quickly and conveniently.
*: Apparently, this is not true. There are consequences for lower levels using Castor Shots that are higher level than they are. They will be taken in front of the Chorus and possibly Exterminated from society. Still, it is technically possible for an Empyrean to fire a shot that is above their own level. As Professor Abrid so sufficiently put it, the castor gun does not know the level of its possessor.
Not only can Castor Shells do damage, but they can also cause effects (such as the Infra Red Flare) and they can also heal in a certain radius.
The strength of the person crafting the Castor Gun or Shells has no impact upon the strength of the spell inside of the shell. Rather, the more adept a crafter is, the faster they are able to create the shells, and the more easily it comes to them. The crafting of Castor Shells is a highly regulated process, as it can be rather dangerous.
Different types of shells are fired in different ways. Well, technically, you squeeze the trigger to fire a shell, but that's not what I mean.
Barrier Radius: creates a barrier around the caster and will follow them while in motion.
Shot Shells: fire straight towards the target and hit if aimed properly.
Blast Shells: move in the direction they were fired in, but will also blast anything between the caster and the intended target.
Arrow Shells: hit the target but remain there, releasing their other effects.
Release Shells: release a creature or monster in front of the caster.
Gas Shells: hit the target and expand in a radius, following the target despite their movements.
Flare Shells: take up an entire room, or light up an entire forest.
List of Castor Shells demonstrated or talked about in Class: #6 - Barrier Radius #34 - Infrared Flare #84 - Anti-Tank Shot #86 - Warding Radius #93 - Anti-Monster Shot

Tutoring with Lelaus - Notes (Ongoing)
Baels
Live In: Ruins Eat: Mushrooms, insects, and grubs Likes: The Bael like soft music, and also drumming of the skin or tribal sort. They like warm bedding and cozy nests, they like to be stroked gently or licked by their own kind. And they love to fly together as a group, which can turn into a tribal group dancing that involves wheeling about in circles. Abilities: Can make themselves invisible!
Ipes
Foods: Cranberries, acorns, marigolds, bird's eggs - especially Robin's eggs - dandelions, salal berries, termites, aphids and dew water. Prefer dew collected from flowers, but that can change from Ipe to Ipe. No foods that they absolutely hate, but again, that can vary from Ipe to Ipe. Likes: The Ipes on the other hand enjoy sewing, bathing especially in dew collected in flowers, Planeswalking through things, listening to birdsong, chasing dust motes or spores, and the Ronwen. Abilities: Planeswalking

P.E. Tutoring with Grave ((via MSN))
Grave: Grave sat behind his front-post desk. He'd just finished sorting through the stacks of returned materials on his cart and was putting the desktop itself into order.
Cypress: Cypress was returning to the library, bringing back a few books on various plants. She walked over to the return desk and set the books down lightly, looking at the Empyr behind the desk, another person she hadn't met. "Excuse me, I was wondering if there were any, errr . . . " she faltered, not sure exactly what kind of information she was looking for. "Well, I was looking for some information on dueling, eventually. I haven't had PE class yet and it all sounds terribly interesting . . . " she trailed off
Grave: Grave looked up at the first approach of footsteps, squaring himself in his chair and putting on an effortlessly charming smile. The One peered down at the fresh Zero and leaned one elbow on the tabletop in a more welcoming manner. "Ah, welcome, welcome," Grave addressed her, choosing to keep his voice a little soft. "My name is Grave, I'm the Librarian's Assistant. You can find me here nearly every hour of the day." He grinned and brushed nonchalantly at his eartail. "Haven't taken P.E. yet, but interested in dueling, mn?" Grave's blue eyes took on a twinkle. He was an aspiring Grigori himself, and dueling was a large part of his training. "Perhaps I can be of some assistance." He said, gracefully standing from his chair. He was tall and lean, obviously an Academic, but he held himself with the air of one who had done some training. "If you'll just follow me, I can show you some great references..."
Cypress: Cypress smiled at him, excited. There was so much to learn, and she was rather nervous about the idea of dueling, as she was rather soft-hearted herself, but she had heard that a friendly match could be great fun. "Thanks, I'd really appreciate it! My name's Cypress by the way" she said, slinging her now-empty bag over her shoulder and moving to follow Grave to the promised references.
Grave: "Cypress is it?" Grave paused, and swiveled around to face her with a smooth, fluid motion. "A pleasure to meet you." Grave added flashing his best smile and offering a chivalrous bow. "And any time you need to find anything, by all means, come find me. It's my job, and I absolutely love to lead students to the best materials. There are so many treasures hidden in this trove..." Grave murmured reverently, spreading his arms as he lead Cypress down one of the aisles. Physical Education, Physical education, he scanned as he went past, scoring his memory for the contents of hundreds of books, looking for the right tomes.
Cypress: Cypress smiled and nodded. Yes, she was well aware that books were a literal treasure trove. She absolutely adored reading, though it often meant that she didn't experience quite as much that way. But that was alright; there was plenty of time to play and experience things later, she supposed. At least she'd know about them and be more prepared when the time did come to get into the subject. Like dueling. A shiver of excitement ran down her spine as she followed Grave, her own eyes skimming past titles of books as he passed them by, wondering what he was going to suggest to her.
Grave: Grave rounded a corner and drew to a graceful stop in front of a cabinet collection. He trailed his fingertip along the spines and then heaved a heavy old tome from the shelf. "This will be as good a place to start as any." Grace said, turning to Cypress and smiling encouragingly. He stepped to the nearest long table, and set the book to rest on the wood tabletop with a resounding thud. He opened the worn book with the creak of old leather and leafed through the worn parchment carefully. This book was clearly one well-loved and frequently referenced. Finally he came to a chapter that interested him. He motioned for her to join him at his side and gestured to the diagrams illustrated there. "Physical education is as much a duel against yourself as it is against anyone else. There are plenty of exercises that you can begin with to train and strengthen your body to prepare it, and tone it, and teach it to move with control, power and grace. A few of these for instance are a good place to start." And Grave mimicked the first illustrated diagram, taking a short fighting stance and stepping forward to perform a smooth and slow speed punching motion. "Give it a try," he encouraged.
Cypress: Cypress got a slightly embarrassed flush to her face, studied the diagram for a moment, then looked at Grave as an artist might; not with the intention of causing discomfort, but simply to learn. His feet were evenly spaced and balanced and, as he punched slowly, his fist rotated for added power through torque. Biting her lower lip, she pushed away her shyness and, putting her right foot forward, stepped into her stance, feeling awkward at first. Then, slowly with her left hand, she tried to mimic his punch, though it didn't quite feel right. Feeling rather silly to be standing in a library and doing this, she looked up at Grave for feedback. "Like this?" she asked, her tone doubtful.
Grave: Grave watched her critically, but not unkindly, a serious look on his face. "Not quite..." he murmured, stepping next to her and reaching out to take her fist in his hand. "Alright, bring the arm back and punch slowly again," he welcomed, gently steering and correcting her trajectory as she moved. "And make sure to stop the punch here..." he added, not letting her elbow lock into place, or her shoulder to dip forward out of her balance zone. "You got to keep grounded. The strength comes all the way up out of the earth, through your back leg and out through your punch. The stance is as important as the hand directing the force. Let's try that again..."
Cypress: Cypress closed her eyes as he directed her punch in order to feel it better; vision could be a distracting thing sometimes. Opening her eyes, she nodded, feeling a little more sure of herself. She widened her stance a little for better balance, feet parallel to each other. She extended the punch slowly, the rotation coming more easily to her, punching to what would be the center of her own chest if she were in front of a mirror. Almost without noticing, her hips joined in with the punch, adding more torque and, in essence, power, to the would-be technique. "That one felt more comfortable . . . " she said, again looking to Grave for criticism.
Grave: "That one looked good." Grave complimented, always amazed with how much more swiftly a journeyman picked up these things than an academic did. He let go of bracing her torso and stepped in front of her to watch her. "Give it another go, and let me see..." he asked, watching her again with that same penetrating glance of focus.
Cypress: Cypress smiled sheepishly, a bit embarrassed at the physical contact. But, such was P.E.; physical education would be physical. Taking a deep breath to clear her thoughts, Cypress tried again, slow motion punch moving towards the "target" of Grave, though she was out of range. It felt much like the last one, and Cypress almost felt she was starting to get the hang of it. It would definitely give her something to practice, though preferably in her room when she had some "alone" time.
Grave: Grave nodded approvingly, the slow smile returning to warm up his features. "That looks good. and there you have the first of the the four basics of P.E." Grave smiled. "Would you care to learn the next basic?"
Cypress: Cypress returned to standing normally, a big grin on her face. Oh, she'd have a lot to practice, no doubt, but she was getting the hang of it! Even if it was only the basics, that was the most important part. It felt good to actually do something. When he asked if she wanted to learn more, she grinned. "I'd love to!" she said, her voice soft as always, but undeniably excited.
Grave: Grave returned an equally excited grin and rolled his shoulders back. "The next thing you need to learn is how to block. Now, unlike the punch - which is designed for Kinesthetics - the Block is a move made for Journeymen. Sometimes you don't have the time to dodge out of the way, and a block is useful. But don't think it's just a block, just a defense. A block can be a great lead up into grabs and reversals. It looks something like this..." Grave returned to his short fighting stance, and brought up his forearm across his body, covering shoulder to hip. "from here you can move your body on an angle by moving your hips," and Grave gracefully swiveled his hips to turn his torso away and then returned to center, "or move your arm to catch various heights of attacks. This is just a basic block. there are more complicated and specialized blocks you can learn later if you continue to martial arts training." Grave smiled and repeated the motion with his other arm. "Give it a try."
Cypress: Cypress resumed her stance, though she could tell that this would be a bit harder to actually implement. Her reflexes weren't the best in the world, and she knew it. Well, maybe with training, she'd get quicker. She tried to mimic Grave's block, but she didn't understand how it worked, or what it was designed to block, so it was awkward and weak. The angle was off, and she hadn't paid attention to if he had done an inner block or outer block ((referencing the direction of the fist when blocking). Her wrist wasn't quite straight and her puzzled look said it all.
Grave: "Aah..." Grave said, coming at once to her aid. "Here, I'll punch towards you, very slowly, and you can bring your arm up and across, trying to connect with my arm at an angle..." Grave stepped closer, and very cautiously and slowly directed a punch towards her middle.
Cypress: Now she had something to work with! This is how Cypress learned; you had to throw her into a situation for anything to make sense. Carefully, Cypress watched the timing of the incoming punch and attempted to block it. However, her timing was off, meaning that Grave could have easily scored, but the block itself was formed with more strength. Her wrist was straight and the angle wasn't 100% right, but was at least slanted so that, if he had really been attacking her, the blow would have at least bounced off, instead of slamming as if into a brick wall. Still, it wouldn't have been the more elegant and useful slide off of the block that was desired, but it would come with time and practice.
Grave: "Cypress," Grave spoke gently. "When I throw my punch, watch how the rest of the body moves, you can often start to see where i'm throwing my energy long before the hand gets to its target. It can give you more time to angle yourself to better counter the attack. When you connect with my arm, aim for the elbow or upper arm, rather than the hand. If you misjudge where the hand is headed, you'll miss it aiming for just a fist, but if you get the elbow or the upper arm, regardless of where the hand is aimed, you'll still n** it's force in the bud." And Grave backed up to throw another identicle punch.
Cypress: Cypress smiled and nodded slightly more gravely, waiting for the next attack. Her block came in a few inches behind Grave's wrist, effectively blocking the soft punch for the first time. Cypress smiled happily. True, she had a long way to go, but she was getting a start, and that was what was important. "This is actually kind of fun" she remarked with a sheepish smile.
Grave: "Yeah, it can get to be a lot of fun," Grave agreed grinning and throwing another easy punch, this time a little higher. "And it feels good to be able to make use of your body this way..." He waited for her to have a chance to block his second punch and added, "and that's the second skill of your basics training. Let me know when you'd like to move on to the third."
Cypress: Smiling, Cypress put her block up for the higher punch, noticing that it came a little faster and, surprising at least herself, her block kept up, deflecting the blow. She was beginning to feel rather accomplished, but a tiny bit more practice couldn't hurt. "Maybe just a few more punches and then we can move on?" she asked, wanting to solidify things in her mind a bit more before moving on.
Grave: "Of course," Grave said, happily obliging her with a few more measured punches. Then when he felt she'd gotten a few solid blocks in a row, he relaxed his stance to let her know he was switching drills. "The third one is another Kinesthetic move. It's a kick. Now there are many different specialty kicks you can learn later, but a basic one is to pick up the knee and swing the foot to the target." As Grave spoke thusly, he moved himself to demonstrate, kicking to waist level with precision and speed. Then he slowed the move down to show her how it was unfolded en route. "Give that a shot, and start low; aim fo an ankle."
Cypress: Cypress honestly thought that the waist-level kick would probably have been easier. Still, she fell into her stance with a bit more ease than she first had and executed the kick, albeit rather awkwardly. How was she supposed to have any strength behind it when it was so low? Still, the idea of specialty kicks was rather promising and she made a mental note to check it out some more a bit later. She looked once more to Grave, ready for his critique.
Grave:Grave watched her and smiled. "Your kick bends at the knee, but the strength comes from the hip, turn your body, like an elastic when you lift the knee and unwind into the kick, like so..." And he over-exaggerated his body movement, his torso twisting and coiling as he prepared his kick, and then he threw his kick full power, low and brought it to an abrupt stop where some invisible ankle might have stood. Then he relaxed and shifted his weight into one hip. "You see, it's a lot more controlled, and far more easily redirected. It's also less obvious to an opponent. They'd be less likely to see where it was targeted, and it's much harder to block than high kicks that take a greater time to prepare. And, believe it or not, the ankle is an extremely effective target. Give it another shot, keep your hands up for balance, and that should help..." Grave shifted to stand beside her and in unison performed the kick slowly.
Cypress: Cypress brought her hands up, though they remained open instead of a closed fist. She found movement to be a tad bit quicker with an open hand. She paid close attention to Grave's demonstrations and, pivoting on the ball of her non-kicking foot, she threw her hips into the ankle-height kick, but overbalanced a tad at the end, flashing Grave an embarrassed smile.
Grave: "That's good!" Grave encouraged, laughing good-naturedly. "If that were a person, you'd not just have hit the ankle, you'd have splintered right through it. You might want to try kicking against the punching bags in the Arena for practice." And then he stepped back to watch her do a few more. "Once you get the low kicks comfortably, you can start to bring the height up. It totally changes where [01:37] Because I have a PhD in Horribleness: you need to hold your weight and balance." He murmured, eyes wide open.
Cypress: Cypress positively beamed at his praise. Splintered right through the ankle, huh? Even if he was exaggerating, Cypress was enjoying it. Finally, she had something easy to understand and practice. She didn't want to over-do it, however, and try high kicks in front of Grave. That was something she'd practice on her own. It would be even more embarrassing if she fell on her hind end trying to show off. She nodded, filing away the bit of information about balance. After a moment, she looked over at Grave again. "You said there were four basics, right? The punch, block, kick, and . . . ?" she trailed off, letting the question hang in the air.
Grave: "Ah, that brings us to my personal favorite." Grave said with a slow, sly grin. And without warning he lept away through the air to land some four feet to the right hand side. "The Dodge. An Academic specialty, the Dodge is perfect for times when an incoming attack will be too mush to handle, or will deal too much damage to withstand. It also is a proactive way of repositioning yourself to ready your next move, without looking too obviously like you are doing so." Grave paused in speaking then and came to stand adjacent to her again. Alright, we'll start with a simple thrown dodge. I want you to just throw your hands forward and pull your body back, skidding back on your heels. It'll start you with the motion. The key here is simply speed. you're trying to peel yourself away from your present location as quickly as possible." And Grave demonstrated, his slim arms flung out as his body curled back, all in the blink of an eye.
Cypress: Cypress, obviously, was much slower than Grave, who had startled her a bit with his sudden four-foot dodge. Still, this also looked like fun, but also awkward, like many things Grave had shown her. She put her arms in front of her and tried to skid backwards on her heels, but ended up tripping herself up and landing on the balls of her feet. She bit her lower lip in frustration. "There an easy trick to this one?" she asked, more because she was unsure of exactly how to do what Grave had told her.
Grave: Grave strolled around her, arms tucked behind his back lazily as he pondered that one. "Well, the key to a good dodge is not to really think about it, but simply to... react!!" And on the word 'react' Grave lunged at her, pulling a punch to whiz past her ear, in the hopes of getting her to jump and respond by getting out of the way.
Cypress: React Cypress did! Quickly on the balls of her feet, her back leg moved first, whipping the rest of her body to follow. While she hadn't moved as far as Grave had, the move was still lightning quick (well, for Cypress, at least) and she stood there, hands up, a little disconcerted at the sudden attack until she realized she had dodged it successfully. Then she flashed a wide smile at Grave, happy for her accomplishment. So what if she was more comfortable on the balls of her feet than the heels? You had to do what was comfortable for you, right?
Grave: Grave smiled happily and relaxed. "I'm sure you'll forgive me the attack without warning. But had I prepared you, it likely would have lost it's effect." Grave smiled again and bowed slightly in an apologetic manner. "Dodging is all about staying alert and trusting your reflexes. Once you grow comfortable with your body's capacity for movement, and an understanding of your limits, you can begin training yourself to move in certain ways, or incorporate other things while dodging." Grave spread his arms and leaned into one hip as was his wont. "And that is the basics. You now have the key movements you'll need to learn to duel."
Cypress: Cypress smiled happily. She was well on her way! And this was stuff she could constantly improve upon, not just memorize. It was almost like coaxing her seeds to grow into plants. It was something she could get into, in more ways than one. Still, with more knowledge came more questions. "What other techniques can be used in dueling? You mentioned martial arts?" she asked, wondering what exactly it meant
Grave: "Well, basically there are a key set of skills you can learn which are the bare necessities for Dueling. The four you just learned are among them, along with things like Dash, Jump, Feint and the like..." Grave swished his tail to one side and moved to lean against one of the study tables to the side of their impromptu practice hall. "Once you've learned the basic skills, you can build on those techniques to learn more specialized movements that can have lasting effects or increase the potency or effectiveness of your standard skills. And beyond that, at much later Stages you can learn to use weapons which have their own techniques." Grave paused, smiling, and regained control over his running tongue. "But aside from just P.E. skills, there are tons of other things you can use in fights, like Augments - Mudras are my personal favorite - and Familiars, Magic, the works. You'll learn all that in time."
Cypress: Cypress' head nearly spun with all the information and, with it, all the new questions. What was a Mudra? And when would she learn magic? Tribal magic in particular interested her as well. There was so much to learn and she was so impatient to learn it all! She sighed, glancing around the library, wondering just how much she could learn from a simple book. "Thank you so much for taking the time to teach me" she said, just now realizing that all she had asked for was some help finding a book. He had helped her with much more than that and her mind was already swimming with ideas and practice routines she could do. His mention of the Arena sparked her interest there, too. She wondered what all was there that she could practice with.
Grave: "By all means." Grave said amiably, running one hand through his dark hair and the other over the pages of the P.E. tome that had sparked their sudden lesson. "Why don't you borrow this and look through it. I guarantee you'll be able to pick up a few more new skills. The Diagrams are very helpful indeed." And Grave closed the book with a loving caress and handed it to her.
Cypress: "Thanks" Cypress said with a smile, opening her satchel and sliding the heavy book inside and adjusting the load. She turned back to Grave, one last question in mind. "Could you point me towards a good book on Castor Shells? I'm a bit lost in science . . . " she said with an sheepish shrug. Ninety-three castor shells . . . this was going to take a while.
Grave: Without missing a beat and with a completely deadpan expression Grave replied, "Crafting The Caster Spell Magics, How to Use a Caster Gun, The Mechanics of Caster Guns, or the Caster Gun Catelogue??"
Cypress: Cypress laughed out loud, trying to think which of the titles would be most appropriate for what she wanted to know. "Um, I'm thinking the Castor Gun Catelogue? I wanted to look at all the Castor Shells themselves . . . "How to Use a Castor Gun" might be helpful too though" she remarked with a chuckle, wondering how many books she could fit in her satchel and resolving herself to carrying a few.
Grave: "Well, you could borrow both. Since you can borrow three books at a time, and you've already got that Sparring by Orrys book, so that'd be today's quota." Grave tossed over his shoulder to her as he wheeled around a corner and into an adjacent aisle, leading her to the section on Caster Guns by second-nature. "The Caster Gun Catelogue has a full listing of the shells and their effects and prices. How to Use a Caster Gun is more about technique in battle, care and combining Shell effects both offensively and defensively." He pulled up short and skimmed a shelf shortly before smiling easily and pulling down first one tome and then another. "Heeeere we are."
Cypress: Cypress accepted the books with a bit of a groan; this was more than just some 'light' reading, and the books weighed a ton! "Better head the the checkout, I think" she said, peering at him over the top of the books. "Thanks again for everything" she said, knowing he had gone out of his way to help her out. Were all Ones this helpful? she wondered. She sure hoped so, 'cause there was so much more she wanted to learn!
Grave: Grave laughed kindly and took the two Caster Gun tomes back from her, carrying them to the check out for her. When he reached his desk at the front of the Library he found a few more returned books cluttering up what had been an empty surface before he'd left to help cypress. He eyed them a little obsessively but refrained from taking action until he'd properly signed out Cypress' picks and handed [02:44] Because I have a PhD in Horribleness: them back to her. He smiled and offered a wink. "happy reading!"
Cypress: "Thanks" she said, picking the two heavy books back up and heading for her room. She had a lot of reading to do!

Library Checkout
Well, I haven't been doing too well in Science, simply because all of those blasted Castor Shells are so confusing! So, I checked out The Castor Gun Catelouge and How to Use a Castor Gun, just to help me out. They're proving to be very helpful guides!
Also, to further my skills in P.E., which Grave so wonderfully tutored me in, I've checked out his recommendation, Sparring by Orrys. That should help me out!

Whew, another exhausting day of science class. Still, I'm learning more about Castor Shells, at least. I really should take my books back to the library though . . . I've had them checked out for a while, and I finally finished reading the last one a few days ago. I'll just head out now --- hmmm? What's this?
A party, huh? And it starts . . . oh, goodness! It's probably in full swing already! Well, library books can wait, eh? Let's go and parrrtayyy!!!! Oh dear . . . what am I going to wear? *followed by numerous bits of fussing and fancy gowns flying out of the closet and landing in silken heaps until the perfect one is found and donned, and the rest of the outfit comes together nicely and she hurries off to the party, leaving the rest of her gowns in a forgotten heap on the floor.*

I figured it was more than enough time since I met some new Empyreans, so I decided to throw a little traveling slumber party. I met a pair of Echos for the first time, Aureus and Argentum. They're pretty cool, even though Raya got a bit . . . personal with them. I also met Morrow, and Belwen and Khamsyn were there too. It turned out to be a pretty fun night, all things included. I'm glad it went over well.

There was a splendid Yule party this year! The Choleric Danna was decorating all the trees and the entire hall was absolutely beautiful! But . . . on to the doodle.
I ran into Cyphr at the party. He was dressed up like a gingerbread man and he was sooooo adorable! I dressed up kinda candy cane-ish and I think it looked kinda cute. But . . . well . . . he gave me this weird look and then . . . he kissed me!!! It was my first kiss ever! I can't even really describe it, so I'm not even going to try. But he got all cute and embarrassed afterwards and thought he did it all wrong, but he didn't, not one bit! It was a wonderful evening.

If the evening could have gotten much better, Professora Tamerind has been raising a herd of Cicus Reindeer, and offered them up for auction. And, lucky me, I managed to win one! Her name is Vixen, and she's pictured up here. She's everything I can't quite manage to be . . . openly flirtatious, show-offy, and confident of herself. I'm hoping she doesn't get into as much trouble as Raya, but I'm also hoping some of her confidence and outgoing-ness rubs off on me . . . I really need to work on that. But, she is beautiful, no?
