The Jedi's foot struck the Kitsune square in the jaw. Staggering back he shifted his jaw it feeling numb from the unexpected blow.
In the next moment he sensed a distinct change in the mana flow. Soon he found himself being flung forward by an unseen grip. Closing his eyes he began to chant quietly to himself the air flow quickening. In seconds he was abruptly released.
Shifting his weight in mid air, the air began to quiver as his spell was fully actuated. Twisting he spun to land facing his opponent. Upon landing the air currents exploded outward from his person with considerable force blanketing the arena floor.
"Ah I assume that was the force..."

Valin tumbled on the ground, flailing a bit as the sudden explosion of air took the Jedi Knight for a nice little ride. That was unexpected. This guy was full of surprises.
Mr. Lobel jumped up to his feet, turning his body and beginning another run at his opponent. The lightsaber brought to bear in his hand of flesh in a pose that held his blade of light nonchalantly over his head, looking like he was leaving himself completely open to a strike. This was Vaapad, a very unique style of lightsaber combat that was based upon misdirection and channeling your own darkness, brushing along the edges of the Dark Side, as a means to fight for the Light.
Now he could really enjoy the fight.
As run stopped just a few feet short of foe, so close that the Kitsune could easily strike him down with his blade if Valin so choose such.
"Come at me," He demanded, "Time to really play."

Studying his opponent critically, the sage raised his blade arching it vertically.
"As you wish..."
Crackling with energy the sword flared to life a white flame cascading down its edge. Shedding a foot of length the dark serrated blade gave way to a pulsing runic form.
Dancing through the air, the great sword streaked forth in a blur of white flame with each movement. Pushing off the ground with balls of his feet, the sage leaped back whipping his body counter clockwise. Slashing in a wide arch, he simultaneously attacked while defensively moving out of range.
Striking from high to low the atmosphere was cleaved in twain in way that could deflect a strike advancing from multiple directions.

Valin whirled his blade over his head in a slight flourish and jumped up, out of the way of the massive falling blade. The Jedi couldn't help but think the sage's sword was pretty impressive.
Suspended in mid-air, he unleashed a Force push behind - effectively giving him the momentum needed to send him flying forward at his Kitsune foe. However, the tactic of moving himself out of Valin's assault had worked to some degree - he would not be able to land any harm on his body. But Kendo's arm was outstretched and holding to his own sword. With a great and showy swirl, Valin attempted to bring his lightsaber's green blade down upon his opponent's wrist.

Catching view of the Jedi in the corner of his eye, the Kitsune continued with his spin dropping to a knee. Sliding to a stop, he draped his sword across his shoulder parrying the lightsaber.
Using his tail like a spring, the sage exploded from beneath the clashing blades, spinning back up to his feet to face his opponent. Simultaneously whipping his flaming nodachi in an arch around his body, he swung the great sword at the Jedi's torso.
Whether he was deflected or connected, he was already spinning the sword back upon facing the knight.

Valin's blade landed and bounced off the sage's own weapon, which was over his shoulder for only but a moment as suddenly, the kitsune was in the air just as the Jedi hit the ground.
Coming down at him, the Jedi a perfectly timed backflip as he landed on the ground to avoid Kendo's sword striking at Valin's body. The Jedi righted himself and brought his lightsaber's emerald blade to meet the sage's blade, locking them into place for a moment, "Glad to see you're trying now," and defiantly twisted his body towards his foe.
He moved his lightsaber swiftly, hopefully to make Kendo stumble forward a bit. Either way, the Jedi Knight closed into striking distance and swung his metallic arm forward with incredible force to smash the closed fist right into the side of the sage's face. It would hurt like all hell and could easily break the jaw bone if he connected.

"I aim to please..."
Smirking the Sage spun back his blade seconds after they had locked. Releasing his left arm from hilt he backhanded the Jedi's attacking arm at elbow, in order to make it veer off course.
Going on the offensive, he snapped a quick kick to the back of Valin's knees aiming to buckle his legs and follow up with a quick round house to the head from the opposing leg.

His lightsaber veered from the hit on his elbow and the sudden hit to the back of his knees made him buckle as Kendo intended. He was a smart b*****d, a good opponent. But the Jedi wasn't done just yet.
As the leg kicked around, Valin brought up his metallic hand to block. If his leg collided with it, it would hurt as badly as kicking a metal wall. Metal was painful like that. While doing this protective act, he jabbed his lightsaber forward at his foe, a quick stab to inflict pain.

The kick struck the mechanical hand with resounding force, the shock reverberating up his left side. His face contorting into a painful grimace the limb felt numb. Ignoring the sensation he caught sight of the incoming sword thrust.
Pushing through the pain with the ball of his foot, the fox sage back flipped off the rigid defense. Whipping his sword forward again, he slashed as he moved out of range of the attacking energy blade.
Cleaving a blazing white stream of fire in its path, once again were the Jedi to attempt to attack in a normal capacity, he would not be able to advance without being struck by the blade.

And so the battle was waged, and its intensity sang out to match no other. The ferocity of the warriors was so great that it could be felt as sure as air could be breathed and the sweat on their brow began beading like bullets of determination.
However, in the midst of this battle, there was a sudden flash that consumed the fighters in its blinding light. They would find their eyes unharmed, but before them there was no longer an opponent. Instead, they would see around them nothing but white light, their feet weightless beneath them. No sooner do they realize this than the world comes back into focus as a large translucent film rises from the ring, devouring each warrior similar to the Disperse Halo that brought them here.
Both fought valiantly, but now the battle was over and it was time to move on. One fighter would find himself returned to the reception room and the other would appear immediately in the next fighting locale. The matter of discerning the victor from the defeated was as easy as that. It was time to move to Round Two.
