I also gotta ask, is any altos here a top-chair? do you know how to reach notes higher than your standard 2nd ledger F? i know its possible, but I cant reach it. can YOU?

would you reccomend using that rust-removing liquid thing seen on tv for cleaning your instrument? do you personally use it?

haha, when's the last time you cleaned your sax neck? so green inside, eww....calcium and mildew...haha gross.

Or, hows this for nasty...for all you reed-users out there, what's the longest time you kept your reed on your mouthpiece? don't lie. I know you keep it on...
and a less-nasty one: whats the longest time your (used) reed stayed in perfect condition?
or, do you have a "lucky reed" stored somewhere? do you use your lucky reed during concerts and special events ONLY?
what's your current reed size? have you played using higher sizes? can you play that higher sized reed now, after you got used to the weaker reeds? i can't even play a 3 half anymore. i now use 2s or 2 half. ha, i cant even play on plain 3s now... 3:

I want a black sax with gold keys...that would be AMAZING. <3 But I can't get one. :[
As for the high notes, I don't know if I could reach them, but I don't even know the fingerings. All I know up to is F.
I try to clean as much of the inside of my sax neck as I can, but it's really hard, because it's so small.
The longest I've used a reed is maybe one or two months. Only one has grown mold, and that was after a day...I didn't store it properly. xd

I like it when they're silver in color or black with silver keys.
My alto is gold with silver-ish keys, though. I love him anyway.
I reached high F once and oddly enough that was the first time I tried it. I never managed to hit that note again.

I never managed to hit that note again. you need a really trained jaw. hmm...i'm gonna figure out how to reach higher notes. and actually, you can't use your fingers to reach higher notes. its just not possible. you'd lose your power.

Yours could wear out faster, too. What brand do you use? Vandoren's really good. (I think that's how you spell it...) They're expensive, but they work well, have a good sound, and last a long time.

I like black saxophones, I think they look really nice. I've only ever seen like, one before, though.
I'm a top-chair, but I've never had to reach notes higher than that before. My sax has a high F# key... but notes higher than that are just harmonics, making it very hard to play them. I'd suggest that if you have to play notes way up there to use a smaller reed size - so you can reach them more easily. I play with a 3, or 3 and a half, depending on what I'm doing.
I don't use the rust removal stuff... but maybe I should. My sax is a bit rusty. I don't clean the neck, either...

I was taking care of one of my friend's alto, and i hated that one so much, considering that it was a lefty sax. it just feels so much different. wierd. and for the signature from DoR, I refuse to allow your one and only post to kill this thread. I WONT! rolleyes
