rant rant rant. I was flipping through channels today, and I saw that the majority of what was playing was reality tv. I can't stand it, I don't like it when the only thing I have to watch is a rerun of a scripted show that's supposedly reality. And MTV - if it's called music television, then why is it that there is a bigger amount of reality shows then music video shows...I live in the U.S. by the way. When will this obsession with reality TV end?!

I total agree with the OP. I can't stand 'reality tv' shows. In truth they are nothing more than glorified, prime time, game shows. They also often seem to bring out the worse traits of human nature, such as the idea of winning at all costs. I seriously hope that the 'reality' tv show fad dies off soon. It's one of the many reasons I'd rather not watch tv.

It's America, we love drama for some reason. It be honest I don't really think that reality tv is really reality. It's just some set up situations by producers to get more money. I think "reality tv" isn't really real. I think that the scripted stuff is more real then "reality tv". I would just change the channel and just really hope that there is something better. If not, I would just read. rolleyes

the sad thing is that many people that watch the show mistake it for what happens in the real lives of other people and try to emulate it. D:
however i do like reality shows like 'deadliest catch' 'Dirty jobs' 'man vs wild' and 'survivor man'. xD are those even technically reality tv? that's how they're listed on my cable o.O...

Reality TV sucks in my area MTV is "A huge crapload of ringtone ads, interrupted by music videos, dating shows and some reality TV".
Most of those shows are so obviously scripted...
...anyways, they all tell the same s**t!

I like to think that reality TV is scripted. Simply because I prefer thinking those people aren't that f*ing STUPID.
Though, I do like shows like Survivor Man. At least those teach you something useful. Anything can happen, after all.
