Hi! So I'm the president of the Japanese Culture club (JCC) at my school and its almost the end of the school year (yay~) and I want to have a Japan coming to our High School party and I don't have that many ideas on how to make it FUN. Its our first year and, let me tell you, we had a rocky start so I want this party to be okay so the old member will come back blaugh Alas, I don't have all that many ideas as I mentioned above. So far: Eat green tea ice-cream sushi DDR karaoke ah..um...yea. Thats pretty much it. I would greatly appreciate ideas and suggestions Oh and the party is in a week and our budget is $140-160 Please and thank you!

You could learn how to make Tamatebako a couple weeks before, then use those to give each other gifts. Also, if you're gonna go the DDR route, get Stepmania and load it up with as many quality J-pop and anime theme files as you can find. You'll enjoy it if you can get a friend to get the pads and a computer to hold Stepmania.

Well, if you've got an asian market around most 'popular' Japanese dishes can be made fairly cheap. We made yakisoba for probably 10 people for a total of 7-10 bucks. Sometimes you may have to google a korean or chinese equivalent of some ingredients dependent on your market heh. Have someone lend a few hotplates and you're good. (Not sure how indepth the food detail is going though, depends heavily on the space used I suppose.)
Jan ken pon, while simple, actually can get pretty competitive and fun (set up a small tourney thing.) Among the various other jp games.
If the ddr/stepmania isn't in the same room some ambient music (jpop, whatever kind of fun really) helps on the 'fun mood' part. A dead room is always kind of blah.

Bring Pocky, have everyone dress up (yukatas, kimonos, ect.), and maybe tell some traditional Japanese fairy tales, like Kaguya-hime no Monogatari (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tale_of_the_Bamboo_Cutter). That'd be fun smile

Thank you for suggesting it, especially since my club members are into fantasy and I need to bring in some more traditional and not as much modern culture heart

Thank you for the music, although upon further thought, I think they might be to shy to dance but I'll think of something Thanks again.
