Keeping a direct eye on Jade, Ciel remained still for the moment only to turn once at the limit her head and eyes allowed. Thinking about it for a moment, it did make some sense. An enemy could expend their stamina by attacking too heavily or too frequently without success. Remembering the two giants briefly, she wondered if they resorted to being nimble, or would just bear down and assault their enemies. Ciel nodded to signify that she was ready, though she might not be entirely set.

At the northern shores of the island, Hrothgar had already settled in for a long wait. He had a decent spot to get a view of the horizon from east to west for any ships that may approach. The shorter palms gave him cover from lookouts. All he had to do was keep from going insane from the wait. As long as the sun was still up he would be able to keep an eye out for ships but as soon as the coming dark would arrive he would have little choice but to return to the marooned ship. This was a time where Hrothgar's uncharacteristic patience would come into play.

Jade smiled and hinted at Ciel's right side with her eyes and body language. A well trained warrior wouldn't ever do that, but this was the girl's first time in a fight so she had to give her something. With not very much force, she swung her right leg at Ciel's body hoping she would now apply the knowledge she had just acquired. If she could defend herself some what, she would be a good distraction until someone else could make the final blow. 'I don't think we're going to be enough... maybe if I alerted the guards at the shrine about the attack... Yes, I will go see them when I'm done here and see if they can get in contact with more troops.'

The smile left Ciel slightly confused at first. Seeing as how Jade had distinctively eyed her right side, Ciel managed a reasonable response time. To guard the kick to her right side, Ciel raised her arms to deflect with her right forearm and left hand. The impact didn't feel particularly powerful, but rather than dwelling on that, Ciel prepared for the next attack. Based on what she had seen in the past, she decided to spread out her stance to be more stable, so that the next hit wouldn't be likely to knock her off balance.

Jade smiled in approval as Ciel successfully blocked her attack. As she got into the steady dance of battle, she executed her next attack by firmly planting her leg that was just blocked on the ground and bringing up her other leg to kick her straight in the gut. She was happy to see Ciel spread out her stance to make herself harder to knock over. 'Fast learner.'

From continuing to watch Jade's movements, Ciel moved her left foot back and to the side, turning her body to avoid the next kick and leave her right side facing Jade. This way she wouldn't have to block her abdomen from a strike if she just avoided it. As long as Jade hadn't said anything further, Ciel figured she was following instructions properly.

As Jade followed through with her kick, Ciel moved out of the way in one swift movement which left her foot kicking at the nothingness in front of her. Instead of trying to retract her leg, she continued on and brought it down so that her back was to Ciel, "Catching on?" She questioned and then crouched putting both hands on the sandy ground to spin her legs underneath her. Hopefully the other girl noticed that Jade didn't attack with her fists, but heavily relied upon the strength in her legs to bring down her opponent. If she did, she could use that as an advantage.

"I think so," Ciel replied with a bit of confidence. She had a slight potential for reading motions at least. Whether or not her body was up to the task of reacting was another thing entirely. Jade appeared to be so proficient in not attempting a strike with her hands which by guess had to be a fairly uncommon skill. Just balancing alone for it would have been a trial for Ciel. Ciel hopped up bringing her knees to her chest to avoid the leg sweep a bit early, then keeping herself airborne by reforming her iridescent butterfly like fairy wings to hover. Hovering like that made her fairly stiff in the air and slow to move at first.

Jade spun, missing Ciel as she jumped/flew to avoid her attack, and slid to a stop in the sand. "Good, now try to attack me." Ciel seemed quite capable of dodging an attack from and enemy, but now the question was if she could throw an attack back if she needed to. They could use some defense against Fire but she doubted that would keep them busy for long, and they would probably just continue on through the area burning whatever they could.

Ciel dropped from her hovering to touch the sand with her feet again, feeling some stability again. At jade's command, Ciel nodded, "okay." She didn't know much of the finer points to striking in combat, but if it worked as well as with anything else, it shouldn't have been terribly difficult. Balling her right hand into a fist, Ciel brought her arm around to attack Jade with a right cross to the chest.

Jade watched intently as Ciel began to concentrate on her attack. She thought that maybe she should give her a few tips and pointers, but most people learned best through doing, not listening to someone tell them how and hoping for perfection. Suddenly, she took notice of movement in Ciel's right hand and quickly brought her own left hand up to defend when she saw it sweeping across. Her goal was to try an catch the offending fist in her own hand. It wasn't the best move, but as far as Jade was concerned, it was good enough for the situation at hand.

Feeling her hand come to an abrupt stop well off its mark, Ciel frowned slightly as her attack was thwarted rather easily. With her right hand now firmly caught in Jade's left hand, Ciel repeated her previous attack mirroring it with her left hand instead. She hadn't given it much thought at the moment, but wasn't feeling particularly confident in her ability to attack at the moment.
